“ you should go home and rest. ” karly whispered as the apparent dryness of her throat began to bother. “ you can’t miss work to watch me lay here like a slug. ” elbows adjusting her body weakly to sit up in the bed. brunette locks unruly from not being washed in several days.
her body was aching. head light headed from the sudden movement, but she dare not say a single thing in front of the woman who looked like she had only stopped crying ten minutes prior. " some water would be nice?" she asked gently, forcing a smile as a shaking hand found her oxygen tubes and put them back on. so much for being stubborn.
" where is dad? " the question posed with curiousity as she inhaled sharply from her wound. " a-and what about the wife? did … umm, is she okay? ”
"I'm not going anywhere. I can rest right here in this chair if I need to." It was the one thing Kim was adamant about, having already cleared it with all of the necessary higher ups. True, her bed would have been a hell of a lot more comfortable, but as Karly's mother, she wanted to make sure her daughter didn't suffer any setbacks.
Grabbing the nearby small pitcher, Kim poured some water into the plastic cup that had also been provided before cautiously handing it over to her daughter. For a split second, she'd considered adding the straw, but she knew Karly would more than likely either just ignore it or toss it out anyway, so there really wasn't much point, even if it was what she was supposed to do.
"Your dad is taking care of things." Sure, the response was vague, but rest was the most important thing right now, not knowing every single last, little detail. "Last I heard, she was in recovery. It looks like she's going to pull through, partially thanks to you."
