And he did exactly as he was ordered to do, releasing his grip of her as quickly as he could. “Would you shut the fuck up!” He snapped back, looking back over his shoulder the way they had come. Was she trying to get them found out? “Listen, damnit, and shut the fuck up! I am not handling some wet-behind-the-ears replacement.” Stepping forward, he grabbed her arm, dragging her close. “We are a team, damnit. And I am not breaking the team for any reason.” Letting go, he stepped back, scowling at the forest around them.
"Oh yeah? You don’t have jack-shit if I’m not with you. Dosu can take care of himself, but the others are already teaming up. And if you do buddy up with someone, they’re going to stab you in the back.” Flipping a kunai out of his holster, he passed it lazily between his fingers. “Look at it this way, at least with me around, they’ll go for me first. They hate my guts.” It was true, even among the other Academy Students he wasn’t well-liked.
Starting forward, he motioned at Kin with his hand. “Comon, we better start getting this thing over with. We need one kill each. Far as I’m concerned, we could clear out the whole damn bunch.” Truth be told, Kin being there was a relief. One more person wouldn’t be trying to stab him in the back (hopefully) and he at least knew what she was capable of. Mostly. And if she was an name-taking badass, then it helped if she was fighting with him not against him.
The way his fingers dug on her flesh hurt, not that she would say so out loud. When he let go, she rubbed the place, glaring him as hard as he could. He could be so annoying, but then again it was him and Dosu the only people Kin felt a connection of sorts. She wouldn't call them friends. They did tended to stick together more often than not; did that made them teammates? "You are right, you would be the perfect distraction while I maim them."
She hated being seen as weak and she would be damned if she didn't prove herself useful. Kill... It was something she had— no will do no matter what. Hesitantly she follows him. "We need a plan." Dosu's the smart one out of the three of them, by now he probably had figured out a way to win with ease and not be found. She wasn't smart and as far she knew Zaku was looking forward to a fight and she wanted to make a statement. "Can't kill everyone, there's too many and everyone is after each other's throat."
She walking a little faster, eyes looking everywhere. It's quiet around them, the masses of people already dispersed. Too bad neither of them were trackers, though maybe was stupid enough to leave tracks behind which reminded her. "We gotta make sure we ain't being followed."

"Sounds like a challenge. You’re on." He thought about making her bet something on it, but what could he get from her? It wasn’t like weapons were in short supply. Even if he had grabbed a few of the more exotic ones from the armory. "Know what I think? I bet you Dosu gets through this without a scratch." That was going to be the real question. Kin was useless, but Dosu was the great unknown. That guy had some tricks up his sleeve.
"Yeah, I remember you said that the last dozen sparring sessions. And you got your ass kicked." It was almost enough to make him wonder just what Kin had in terms of an arsenal. Needles, bells, and a bad temper? Very impressive. Smirking, he pointed at the people around them. “Hey, in case you’ve forgotten I’ve beaten these idiots before. I’m not losing to these second-rate chumps.” He wanted to include a few more words, but the instructor shouted the words.
And just like that, Kin was already looking dazed. Did he have to do all the work? Grabbing her, Zaku dashed forward. “For sucks sake! Two seconds in and I have to carry you. Kin, you better be real good at fighting.”
Sometimes she hated Zaku, other times she could care less and right now— you fucking idiot let go of me!" He was dragging her by the arm, staggering as she went by force. A few steps ahead she jerked her arm away once they were outside, glaring. "I can go on my own dimwit." Why did he have to be so damn cocky? Some days she swore she preferred Dosu's presence over his, at least the silent male was calm compared to him.
"I can fight on my own, I don't need you." She was pouting. "If you are so strong then why need me to be your 'aprtner'?" Just because she prefers the taste of steel, using her own well thought techniques and not the implants didn't make her weak. "You might have beaten them but it means shit out in the real world."
Kill, they had to kill, take a person's life, it wasn't something she felt exited about, it was to be expected from them. All she wanted was to prove her worth on the task. Dosu would be fine, he looks strong, acts like it too, sometimes he knows hings they don't and Zaku... he is good and she envies him, not that she says it out loud. Doesn't want to boost his ego.

People had been saying there was going to be a live training exercise. One with real weapons. The sort of training exercise that secured a person’s place in Otogakure. Those rumors hadn’t been helped when large numbers of Academy Students (or kids with that equivalent rank) were getting taken off and released into the wild.
Zaku was practically on tenterhooks as he waited for the orders to come down. This was it, this was it. The big moment, the moment when the training and the sparring went away, and what was left was the real combat. When the instructor announced what it was, he could have jumped for joy. This was going to be amazing. Kill or be killed, three survivors, anyone could team up. Looking over at Kin, he elbowed her, “Hey, five bucks says I can get a higher kill count than you.” She didn’t look ready for it.
Great, he had the weakling on his team. But it said three people could make it. Leaning over he pointed out Dosu somewhere ahead of them. “You stick with me, Dosu can handle himself. I’m not dealing with some fucking replacement.” He could already feel the adrenaline shooting through his system. God damn it felt great. He was already running through just how he’d dispatch every opponent he’d run into: a Zankuha, execution style, a knife to the throat? Zaku drummed his fingers against his kunai holster.
"About time, eh, Kin? Who knows, maybe your little bell-and-needle trick will work for once."
The small bump to her shoulder brought her back to reality's cruelty. All around them people seemed exited others fearful, she felt neither. Cold, it is how she felt if put to words. "Who knows, maybe I'll beat you." Her voice did not sound that confident, but it was something she believed she could do; beat him. She saw Dosu as well, going ahead of them to do his thing, whatever that it was.
They had known each other for awhile now, trained together they weren't friends to be exact, but at some level trusted each other for what it was worth. "It'll work." She sneered, it was something new she had been trying out for awhile, she preferred it's over her implant one. It had to work. "You better not drag me down idiot, this is the real thing."
The instructor gave a shout "Scatter!", and the doors to the forest opened, the bright shinning light almost blinding her.

All of them had been gathered into a tiny room, it stank of sweat and other odors Kin did not bother to classify. She was used to it anyway, might as well drown in them. Impatiently, she rocked back and forth on the balls of her bare feet waiting for the instructor to arrive and give them orders.
Today felt odd, dread, she could feel it sticking to her clothes like sweat. It didn't took long for the instructor to show, a grumpy old man with bad manners and a sailor's mouth through the heavy metal double door that lead to a forest on the outside. Instructions were given. A test; kill or be killed.
A shudder ran down her back. They had never killed before, taught how to yes, but actually doing it? No, this would be the first time. "Only three of you are allowed to live." The words resonated in her ears. "Kill everyone, team up if you want. Survival to the fittest." Kin swallowed dryly. She was going to have to go against all of these people until only three of them were left— kill them.
During a festival, Otogakure literally turns into a musical, everyone is publicly donning out their instruments, playing them happily, people singing left and right, making sounds. It's a bit crazy and odd knowing their nefarious ways, yet it is during those days all that is bad is forgotten. Just for a moment everyone is in sync and harmony, but once all is over everyone return back to their duties.
Tell my muse who you ship them with. Be as subtle or as obvious as you like!
"Listen here, Kin. Just because we’re both under Sound doesn’t mean I have to do squat for you. Don’t bother me unless your head’s about to roll off your neck."
Because he had no patience for the scrubs that were Zaku, Kin and Dosu.
"And here I came to ask nicely for a favor. Know what, screw you too," The poisonous mushrooms in her hand was squished, juices dripping between her fingers.
"You are just an ugly snake, less girly but far more horrendous." She dared not fight against him, knowing how much stronger he was than her, yet that did not stop her mouth.

In the series we never saw Kin's implants, however she does have them, but unlike her teammates they are not visible. Back then when she was a little girl she was a really good singer. Orochimaru took notice of this, and gave her a vocal implant. It is located on her larynx, so it cannot be seen. After the operation, Kin could no longer sing like she used to, her songs now were made for battle.
Basically the abilities she has with her vocal implants work similar to genjutsu, controlling the target to do as she wishes or putting them to sleep for awhile. Yet she is not fond of using these abilities, it takes away the fun from them, and if the proper conditions are not set she could loose focus and her teammates could end up trapped on the sound waves— she needs to focus in order for it to work.
