“Oh no!” the girls chorus, big eyed. Scanty looks thoughtful, brow furrowed – but Goushi gets closer to Camie, looking a little nervous. Finally, she tugs a little at the bottom of Camie’s shirt, tail twitching between her legs.
“Do… do you think you’ll get home someday?”
“Well,” she replied, “That’s what I’m hoping for. There’s always the underlying fear that I’ll arrive home, but it will be far too late and everyone who I’ve known will be gone, y’know?”
The girls look at each other again, and Goushi’s the first to look back up at Camie as she hugs her legs, trying to comfort her, tail raising and wiggling some, “You’ll go home in time! It’s okay!”
Scanty pads over next to Goushi, peeking up at the young woman, “She’s right! You’re my uh... niece! And her niece! You’re grandpa’s granddaughter! You’ll definitely go home in time!”
