– ☆ – Pearl let out an incoherent noise of embarrassment as Amethyst told her she was important. A teal tint returned to her cheeks and she couldn’t help but to smile down at her. Pearl’s arms wrapped around the younger gem’s waist, lifting her up into her arms, hugging her close. “We might have to keep this from Garnet for awhile… Can you do that?” She asked, resting her hand on the back of Amethyst’s head.

She knew Amethyst sometimes had trouble telling others how she felt, but this wasn’t like any of their other conversations. They were discussing attraction and interest in affection. They were talking about what they would become after this. “I… I’m not sure…. I mean, I don’t know how human relationships work. I always assumed a bond between gems was more complicated, more meaningful. I…. Want to share that with you. I want to consider this a romantic relationship…. If you’re willing to.” Now SHE was having trouble expressing her emotions. – ☆ – “It doesn’t have to mean anything, if you don’t want it to.” She offered, returning the rather tight squeeze. “We can continue to be what we’ve always been just…. With something special between us now.” Pearl didn’t know exactly how to describe it. What she meant really, was that they could continue to be close friends and kiss whenever they liked… She didn’t think official titles were necessary. She’d heard humans give each other many affectionate names. Girlfriend, boyfriend, lover, wife, husband. It was all too complicated for Pearl to follow. She believed gems were different from humans in a lot of ways and that this was one of them. Two gems could feel a strong connection but not refer to each other as something different. “It was… Nice… Really nice. I’d like to do it again… If you’d like to.”

“That’s the thing, Pearl. I D O want it to mean something.” Amethyst wanted to be more than friends. Kissing as friends was okay... but she had feelings for the taller gem for quite some time. “If you just wanna keep being friends, that’s fine. I just... just...” Her shoulders began to slump, her eyes focusing down on their hands. “Never mind. F-forget I said that, it doesn’t have to mean anything.” Talking about feelings was difficult for Amethyst, it always had been. “I’d like to kiss you again though.”

– ☆ – She pulled away after a moment, blinking rapidly. Cheeks flushed, she smiled down at her younger ally. The other gem’s pudgy hands were still positioned on either side of her face making her chuckle softly. She pulled them away to hold them in her own slender ones, looking into darker eyes as she brushed Amethyst’s bangs away from her face. “H-How was that…?” She asked with a hint of nervousness in her voice. She could still feel the electricity. Her fuller lips felt so nice against Pearl’s own, and she knew she would have continued the kiss if she was sure she could. One thing was certain. It may have been her first kiss, but she wanted several more in the future.

“Heh. It felt pretty great, P.” There was sincerity in her tone, her gaze drifting from Pearl down to the floor. She started to smile, thinking about wanting Pearl to kiss her over and over. – ☆ – Pearl obliged, resting her hands on Amethyst’s shoulders. Her lips connected with the younger gem in a chaste kiss. It was short and sweet, and so simple…. But so special. One, because it was her first kiss with anyone. And two because she was able to help Amethyst in this way. The kindergarten gem was important to Pearl, and while she didn’t always treat her with the respect she deserved, she did have strong feelings for her…. Even if she wasn’t sure exactly what they were.

Amethyst’s eyes widened at first, being caught off guard. She never thought Pearl would ever want to kiss her. She could feel sparks in the kiss, and she felt... giddy. She gently placed her hands on each side of Pearl’s cheeks as she returned the liplock, her eyes flying shut.
