"Today was absolutely beautiful out! I think it might be the last weekend with this weather before it goes back to being cold again. I should really find more of my fall clothing and start on some knitted gifts for everyone."
Alphonse and January dancing, Swing style~
When muses are being cute as shit with one another.
"I'm sorry, what?" She paused, sighing and lying on her back. "Man I'll never get used to that stuff! Dragons pulse, chi, it's so confusing." She sighed. "At least I have books about it. Most people don't even have that right?" She sat backup, looking at Alphonse."I don't know it's all just confusing."
She frowned, doodling something on the pavement with her chalk. "My teacher said I shouldn't study alchemy. Said it's the devils magic or somethin." She shrugged, withdrawing to show a tiny drawing on the ground. "But I don't believe that. I think alchemy is educational and helpful." She smiled.
"Sorry. I was rambling wasn't i? I tend to do that a lot." She laughed nervously, rubbing the back of her neck.
"It is a bit confusing when you first start, I think you should just focus on Alchemy for now until you are comfortable with it before you start to learnĀ Alkehestry." Al nodded and chuckled as she flopped backwards onto the ground. "Most people don't, that is right. However the library has quite a collection, of course the more advanced books are kept else ware and only certain people can access those." He smiled over at her and nudged her shoulder with his own once she sat up. "Don't get discouraged you are doing wonderful on your own for Alchemy."
Al watched her doodle on the pavement and couldn't help but frown. "You meet quite a few people who share that way of thinking, it is mostly because they do not understand how it works so it frightens them. I am very happy to hear you think that way about it and I can see why you wish to learn it." He smiled and couldn't help but sit a little straighter as he loved to meet others who were so passionate about it.
"You weren't rambling, Caitlin. I could perhaps help you with Alchemy if you would like?"
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āThey could have come out badly, you know. Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Just because I made them doesnāt meanĀ theyāll Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā be any good.ā
Ā Ā Ā She watched him carefully eat the last of the apple fry. Giggling softly as he tried not to bite her, she finally lowered her hand when it was gone.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āThey are called apple pie fries. Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Though, Iāve been just callinā them apple fries. Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Itās a caramel sauce. Though they go good with Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā vanilla ice cream too.ā
"But they didn't as you are a wonderful cook, I don't think I have ever seen and or tasted anything bad you have made." Al nuzzled her cheek without really thinking and hummed once he finished the last of the snack. "Apple pie fries? How curious... I like this apple fries and you will need to show me how you made them." He could feel himself starting to drool but managed to hold it in. "Both sounds wonderful to go with them."
Ā Ā Ā A sigh of relief escaped before a smile adorned her face. If he liked them, then it was a job well done.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āIām glad you like them. Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā I wasnāt quite sure if theyād turn out. Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā There is suppose to be a sauce Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā but I didnāt have the ingredients.ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Sheād have to ensure she did next time. No point in making a recipe if you couldnāt make all the components.
"How can't I like them? You made them and you are a wonderful cook. What kind of a sauce goes with these, wait what is the name for them? I don't think it is tiny apple pies." Al laughed, finishing off the piece that was still in Jan's hand and making sure to get the rest carefully out from her fingers not to bite them.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āAh, this recipe. I tried somethinā new butā¦ā
Ā Ā Ā Pressing a finger to the top of the apple filled treats, she gently lifted one and held it up to him.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āTry it out for me?ā
"I love trying new recipes." Al chuckled, watching Jan pick up one of the items from the plate in front of her. "It smells like apple pie now that I got closer and I would love too." He smiled, leaning over to take a bite out of the apple filled treats she was holding up for him. "Mmmm" He hummed while he chewed as it really did taste like apple pie, just a much smaller version. "This is really good."
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āMmā¦not sureā¦.ā
Ā Ā Ā Someone has tried a new recipe. Sheās not quite sure if she liked how it turned out though.
"Not sure about what, Janny?" Al stepped behind her to see what she was doing.
"Yeah, people can be judgmental. Itās terrible." She smiled, laughing. "He sounds very nice." She blinked lightly. "Yeah it is pretty hard, but itās slowly making sense." She paused. "How alchemy should work? What do you mean? Donāt they have the law of equivalent exchange? " She paused, blinking at him.
"I hope it continues to get better and I have learned to never judge someone by appearances." Al nodded and smiled down at Caitlin. "He is really something and I do hope you get to meet him one day, just beware he gives out really, really tight hugs." He wanted to prepare her for these tight hugs. "Well.... it is a bit different from how we use alchemy.Ā Alkahestry uses the Dragonās Pulse which uses the earth itself as it has a constant flow of chi, which is life energy of the whole world."
"So do I, itās always great." She chuckled, smiling as she looked down at her feet. "Oh course he seems odd, heās a very muscular man. People donāt think theyāre nice or smart." She looked over at him, blinking lightly. "It is? Thank you very much! It means a lot coming from you." She laughed, pausing. "Be careful, itās very sharp. Could kill a man." She sniffled, rubbing at her nose. "Iām trying to learn different types of alchemy too, xianese alchemy, amestrian alchemy, you know? More ways to invent or create things."
"That wasn't the impression I got from him at all when I first met him, I can see however why people would think that. I am quite sure he likes surprising people with his alchemy knowledge and just being a wonderful man." Al wanted to be like Armstrong to be so passionate about everything. "I told you that you were a lot better than you realized." He chuckled, moving the knife once more in his hand. "I will be very careful when handling it. That sounds wonderful, Caitlin. I knowĀ Alkehestry takes a little bit to understand, I actually learned it from a close friend of mine. We had a few fights over how it could work as I knew alchemy before hand." He laughed as he was quite sure everyone thought they were so angry at one another during these heated discussions.Ā
"Thanks!" She smiled, laughing. "Itās so nice to meet you!" She paused, chuckling. "Stripping his shirt? Interesting." She chuckled, frowning lightly. "No reason in particular, I just like helping people, and state alchemists do that." She paused, before pulling out a knife and handing it to him. "Course you can, here." She frowned lightly. "Thing is, Iām not exactly the best at being mocked, and seeing as state alchemists are called dogs of the military, wellā¦You get the gist." She put her hand into the other, sighing. "I just hope my alchemy gets better, you know?" She managed to smile once more.
"You are very welcome and it is nice to meet you as well, I love meeting new people who share some of the same interests as me." Al nodded and let out a small sigh before laughing lowly. "It would always surprise us when he did as he would do it without warning. He just seems a little odd but deep down he is like a big teddy bear." Al hoped he might have learned not to hug people quite as tightly as before. "I was just curious that's all and alchemist do help out lots of people." He took the knife from her to observe it to see just how far along her alchemy has gotten to. "Thank you and you do get better at ignoring people when they call you that, for the most part anyway." He nodded and moved the knife in his hand. "I think this is a wonderfully crafted throwing knife, you are a lot better than you think you are."
"Oh yeah sure, itās not that impressive though." She laughed, looking over at Al. "Oh, nice to meet you Al, Iām Caitlin Dakalov. Youāre part of the Elric brothers right? Iām honoured to meet you!" She chuckled once more, before taking chalk out of her pocket and sketching an alchemy circle. She put some metal sheets down, before putting her hands onto the circle, making a few throwing knives. "Iāve heard of General Armstrong." She smiled, picking up the throwing knives. "Iām not even good at alchemy, but I hope to be. I might even become a state alchemist one day!"
"Nonsense I am sure you are amazing at it." Al nodded and tilted his head slightly to the side when she looked him up at down for a moment. "It is wonderful to meet you, Caitlin. That I am! I am the younger brother." He chuckled as her eyes were practically sparkling up at him making his cheeks turn a light pink in embarrassment. He stayed quiet as he watched her take out a piece of chalk so she could draw an array onto the ground before placing some metal objects over it to create some throwing knives. "That is quite impressive! He is quite well known around the base for, well ripping his jacket off to flex his muscles... he is one of the nicest people I know." It had been awhile since he had one of Armstrong's tight hugs, least after getting his body back anyway. "Being able to understand and make something in an array alone is great, Caitlin. Is there a reason why you want to become a state alchemist if you don't mind me asking? Also may I look at one of the throwing knives?"
"Well I donāt have a teacher, Iāve been learning myself, and Iām not exactly a prodigy." She laughed, looking at her feet. "But yeah thanks, I mean everyoneās older and taller. Except Iām not short! Everyoneās just a giant!" She chuckled nervously. "Fall is great. I can just wear a t-shirt and jeans, sometimes a scarf."
"Learning on your own is quite something and very impressive. Would you mind showing me something you can do?" Al flushed slightly hoping he wasn't being too curious about her alchemy. "Ah, sorry I am an alchemist myself and I like to see other peoples alchemy." He nodded before laughing at her statement about everyone being a giant, it reminded him of his brother. "That is true some people are quite tall around Central, have you ever met Major Armstrong? He is one of the tallest people I have ever met." He could only imagine her eyes growing large when seeing the man for the first time. "I keep a scarf with me just in case I get cold-Oh! I'm terribly sorry I haven't introduced myself yet! I'm Alphonse Elric and you are?"
"Yeah I agree! Though my preference may just be the fact my birthday is in fall." She laughed, rubbing the back of her head. "Iām turning 15, I feel so young compared to everyone else. My alchemy isnāt even that good."
"I'm sure it is only partly the reason why you love the fall so much. I know it is one of my favourite times of the year as I can wear a light scarf if I get a bit of a chill and not worry about over heating." Al chuckled lowly and smiled down at the girl in front of him. "That is wonderful! I mean you turning fifteen and I used to feel like that when I was younger. Everyone I knew at the time was so much older than I was." Though he was a giant compared to them. "You know alchemy? Did you learn it from someone or have you been studying on your own?"
"To be honest, I prefer fall. Not too hot, not too cold."
"Fall is quite lovely and with all the autumn colours and it not being too hot or cold. I find the air has a bit of a... what is the right word? A sort of spicy like smell to it?"
"It is starting to feel more like fall once the sun goes down, we didn't have much of a summer this year."
{Terribly sorry for not mentioning earlier that I might not be on as much due to being busy with classes. I am going to try and pop on once a week and hopefully after a little while twice or more.}
Ā ļ¹Ā āāāĀ ļ¹ Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā January gave his fingers a light squeeze as they threaded with her own. Turning her head just slightly she nuzzled his shoulder. He smelled really good, like the earth and pages of an old book. Itād become such a comforting thing to her as of late. A small giggle fell past her lips as he flushed. She always found it amusing when he did, mostly because sheād been the one to incite the reaction.
Ā Ā Ā āIāll have to start taking you up on that offer, love.ā Her gaze followed his as he looked towards the sky. Hopefully theyād make it back before they got too wet. Though being able to snuggle up with him to keep warm was certainly an attractive idea. āAs do I. But Cyrus can be quite the trouble maker when left alone. Crazy kitten that he is.ā
Al continues to glance down at Jan once and awhile to smile at her fondly, he didn't want to walk into someone or something but he still wanted to look at Jan. It was hard not to look into her beautiful caramel eyes which were sparkling up at him, not to mention he thought she was the most beautiful girl he has ever met. He heard her giggle making him wonder what she was giggling at, had he said something weird?
"Please do, hopefully nothing will be overly large on you as I do have some wide shoulders." He chuckled at the image appearing in his head of Jan drowning in his clothing, it was quite adorable. "He is a little bit younger than his sisters so he has that rebellious side to him right now, but I think his sisters can keep him in line." He nodded, tugging Jan closer as someone was passing by and not moving out of the way. When he did he felt a rain drop or two falling onto his head, good thing he could see his building and they would get there before it starts to rain, hopefully anyway.Ā
