Travelling and fear

For most of my life i have wanted to travel to different countries to experience as much as i could in each cultures. Since I’m African American and currently living in Atlanta a lot of people here are afraid to leave. Talking to some people about travelling to outside countries and especially African Americans is usually met with a fear of dying overseas. My response is always “What?! You can’t die in America?!” with all the injustices against Blacks I would think it’ll be an unanimous decision on leaving American soil. With the fear I also have an understanding into where it comes from. The mainstream media rarely show other countries in a positive light, it’s either wars, death, and kidnapping. When i start travelling I will show everyone that even though travelling can be frightening just like everything else in life, having the right mentality you can overcome any challenge presented to you.
