Datsun 720 Kingcab

KINGY - Its a 1984 Nissan/Datsun kingcab 720. We picked it up for a song as the the previous owner said the motor was dead. It isnt. Went for my first ever drive in my Kingcab today!

It had been sitting for a few months but fired up first pop once I remembered to pull the choke out!

Drove it to the gas station and put some nice fresh fuel in it then went for a totally uneventfull 20min drive...so good

got the buckets out and the benck kinda in tonight....problem is the bench doesnt actually fit! maybe the seats in a single cab and a kingcab are different?

heres the new filter and the old filter. notice anything missing from the old filter? thats correct...no filter! how the hell does this happen?! lol

So we got the Datsun running properly today! the guys from ratsun told me to try the fuel filter so i went to super cheap auto and got one. only $8!

got home, fitted it, checked the old one and it had no filter in it at all and some big chuncks of some crap.

fired her up and then Caleb took it for its first 100% successfull test drive.

bought some no more gaps from the warehouse today and filled the hole we found. now I actually hope it rains this week so we can test if it works.

we also stopped at an old friends in Shannon on the way home. scored a sweet roof rack for the dx for $20

so as I mentioned below, I found an og seat for the 720 on trademe. what I didnt say was that the seat was in Patea.....Im in Wellington. thats quite a hike for a 45$ auction pickup! Im super lucky that the other guys in the KiwiJDM crew are at least as car crazy as me (more probably) and they didnt even blink at the thought....even tho all they knew about Patea was the legendary Poi e song. NZ had a long weekend so we decided Sunday the 5th would be the pickup day. 

We loaded up the trusty corolla diesel DX and headed for the servo for alot of energy drinks and a fair amount of diesel.
