Talk of Sophia made me want to go and make up designs for some other statue-only heroes. These two are researchers who founded the Animal Museum (now Conservation Museum) in Appondale.

I haven't drawn something of AJ purely for fun in a while, but the dtiys contests got me excited about doing more art of the game again (especially considering it's what I draw on), Cool Buddies!!!

What do ya use to animate (and/or) draw? :0

tldr: I use ibispaint to draw rasterized art, and moho to draw vector art and animate! More in-depth explanation because I love this subject: Raster art (the most common digital artform) is made up of pixels! If you take any regular image and zoom in or resize it, it loses quality/ get pixelated. Its really good when you have lots color shifts and blending. For my raster art I almost always use Ibispaint on a tablet! Here is a wip of human graham for an example :)

For my vector art I usually sketch in ibispaint then draw over it with vector shapes in moho. (Inkscape is a good free alternative!) vector shapes are based on mathematic formulas I'm not smart enough to explain, but just imagine a bunch of shapes made up of connecting points you can move as demonstrated below. Its harder to make detailed vector art, but its great for crispy and clean art! Since its math based, its also infinitely scalable, meaning it wont lose image quality! (until you convert it to a normal image..)

When I animate I do a mixture of rigging and frame by frame animation. To rig an image for animation, you set vector points attached to what is called a bone, which is like a control to move the points in a certain way. (I can make a more in-depth post about rigging if desired!) (I use moho for rigging, but I recommend you use blender or a different free software instead. I've heard some people use synfig?)

Animal Jam uses a mixture of raster and vector art in ajc! Most of the promotional art, animal assets, and den items use vector art, where as the more detailed background environments tend to be raster images!

Animated my favorite lesbians hugging!! :DD Context: In some official assets these two appeared twice!! I also think that the penguin looks a lot like Lori from special delivery, so I headcanon that the arctic wolf is her girlfriend! I took some creative liberty with the designs!!

First ever tumblr post I headcanon that Rose was Owlbert's mentor and role model, and that Owlbert took over as head delivery owl after Rose retired!

For context: Rose is an NPC from the AJC special delivery seasonal adventure, and Owlbert is a delivery owl NPC from AJPW :). I also drew baby Owlbert to look like the pet owls because I also headcanon that pets are children.
