Hello! I'm am about start college to go into zoology, do have any advice for future members of the zoology/wildlife fields?
Volunteer and get as much experience as you can throughout your degree, e.g. summer placements. Don't be afraid to apply for volunteer positions all over the place. The skills you'll learn volunteering are great, but it's the networking that really helps. It's always about who you know in this field, the more people you know in the field the more opportunities come your way.Try to read research papers of which the topic interests you as you go through your degree (your uni will give you access to papers usually behind paywalls). Maybe 1 a week or month etc. This will help you hugely in your scientific writing, improving your knowledge and finding out what you enjoy. There is a lot more to your education than some rigid set lectures and coursework.Lots more I can say but the first one there is the biggest tip I can give and the second one is a very quick and easy little thing you can do that will help in the long run.
