“Peridot, huh? That’s a lovely name!”

Despite her disgusted manner - as he could quite obviously see - Hatty believed that he could have an interesting conversation with her, and even make a new friend! She did have a strange name, but he’s met people with equally strange names. From Nostridomus, to even the ridiculous Smelford Tibblefast.

“Oh, uh, Hi Hatty!” Johnny greeted,stifling a yawn he hoped the dark circles under his eyes weren’t noticeable. Nightmares about the theater had come back to haunt him, he would wake up screaming for help, he hated cats, and that hell hole didn’t help with his fear at all.

“Alright, but make sure to go to bed early! And to drink plenty of water– and maybe if someone was there with you then you could sleep better?”

Hatty sometimes tended to go off on ‘mother hen rants’ as they might be called. Although they were meant in the kindest way possible, his friends usually found it a bit annoying.

Johnny rolled his eyes “Yeah yeah mom,” he said jokingly  “At least you aren’t scared of cats,” he muttered, shivering at the thought of those furry little demons.

“You too? I thought my fear was ridiculous, but I suppose it isn’t.”

Once those guards put the hat on his head, he felt strangely numb - which frightened him, of course. He only had a vague - but haunting - memory of what happened there.

“You okay, buddy?”

He’d noticed that his friend - and many of the others - hadn’t been getting enough rest ever since they got off of that awful island. He, however, was sleeping normally even if he was one of the ones who seemed to be causing so much trouble back at the theater.

“I don’t mean to sound rude but you don’t look so good.”
