I've been looking for a throne for quite a while. I spotted this one over on the Merchoid site this week. Unfortunately, it's a bit out of my price range - maybe if we could shave off the first digit?

My "micronational library"
It's a small collection so far, but it's gradually getting bigger!
If you ever want to start your own micronation, I've gathered together a few links from different micronations that provide advice on doing so. I could put my own such advice page together, but the ones I've linked to cover a lot of the essential stuff.
One of the frequently-asked questions in the micronational groups over on Facebook is, "I want to start my own micronation - where do I beg
As seen on Instagram!
Did you know I'm also on Instagram? I typically post on Mondays (MEDALS Monday featuring awards from the MEDALS archive) and Thursdays (Travel Thursday, featuring me in strange or exotic places).

Another seasonal card
Christmas is over, and we're a week into the new year, but another Christmas card arrived in today's post, this time from West Who.
If you didn't know, 2025 was the "Intermicronational Year of Exploration". To celebrate, Slabovia organized an expedition to the headwaters of Deerlick Creek, a small tributary near the embassy. We authored a report on the expedition, which can be found via the link below.
To mark the Intermicronational Year of Exploration , the Slabovian Geographic Society recently dispatched an expedition to find the headwate
From my (mostly) loyal court, I wish all of you the very happiest of new years!
More Christmas cards
We were away over Christmas, and while we were gone two more cards arrived in the mail. On the left is one from the Aerican Empire featuring their cat, Bacon, and on the right is one I received from one of the citizens of Slabovia.
I received both of these cards in the mail recently. The one on the left is from Aigues-Mortes, who will be hosting the European version of MicroCon 2027, and the one on the right is from Molossia, who hosted the very first MicroCon.
I received both of these cards the same day I mailed out all those other cards (December 10th). The one on the left is from my chancellor and his family (the picture was painted by his wife, who's a pretty talented wildlife artist), and the one on the right is from Zar Antonov of Obscurium. We first met Zar when he attended MicroCon 2019 (the one we hosted) and we've maintained a friendship with him since then.
I sent out the first batch of holiday cards today. This year's design is pictured - and yes, it's an AI-generated picture (from Meta).
Many micronations make overly-complicated flags. The Slabovian flag, by comparison, is relatively simple, yet distinctive and symbolic. The purple fields represent the royal aspects of the country (which is, after all, a monarchy) and the grey (technically, silver) center bar represents the origins of the country - it started as an online presence on a bulletin board system back in the 1980s, so silver represents "cyberspace".
Since we're entering the holiday season, here's a picture of assorted Christmas/holiday cards from other micronations (from 2022). I regularly send and receive cards to/from other micronations during the holiday season. Although, truth be told, I send out a lot more than I receive, and with the cost of postage and custom cards, it's not a cheap endeavour! Nonetheless, I think it's an important part of ruling a micronation - keeping up the foreign relations with your fellow micronationals!
By an interesting coincidence, after I'd written the above and queued it up for go-live, I got the first micronational Christmas card of the 2025 holiday season, from Duckionary (including a pamphlet for the Micro Euro Summit 2026, to be held in Brno, Czech Republic).
Coming soon...
So, you know how Star Trek has "Stardates" which apparently count the number of days since the founding of the federation?
We're announcing a similar concept for Slabovia - "Slabdate", representing the number of days since the founding of Slabovia, which has been retroactively established as 1 July, 1984.
We already canonically have a 42-hour clock (it's in my basement), and for some time now I've been signing proclamations using AUC (ab urbe condita, literally "from the founding of the City" - referring to the founding of Rome in 753 BCE) rather than AD or CE. So, changing our day reckoning and moving away from the Gregorian calendar (named for Pope Gregory XIII) completes our obfuscation of time! So, now, we can say things like "It was 42 o'clock, Slabdate 15206, in the year 2779 AUC."
Why are we doing this? Eh, I never got along with Gregory.
A bit of a historical artifact today... We occasionally hold gatherings of our citizens, called "RegCon" (short for Regressional Convention). This photo is from the very first RegCon, back in 1990. I'm not in this photo because someone had to take the picture and that ended up being me.
Commemorative patch - Operation Pole Dance
One thing about Slabovia, we love our patches, rank insignia, and other uniform bits. For the recently-completed phase one of Operation Pole Dance (getting flag poles from Montreal to San Diego) we had these ones made up! (Kudos to my chancellor, Rankin, for this and the many creative endeavours he does to help Slabovia!)
One of our citizens has a laser engraver, so we had special commemorative pens made for the co-signing of the West Who Space Treaty by Slabovia, Westarctica, and the Aerican Empire! The pens have a llama above the words "Operation Pole Dance" (since the treaty signing was part of that operation). Great job, Chris!
