Users are already sharing their fear of NexusMods allowing more bigoted mods in the future, and taking down inclusive ones to follow the current "anti-woke" trend in the gaming industry

Another User, this time on NexusMods forum, noticed queer and inclusive mods being removed following Dark0ne's post

It is also worth mentioning that Chosen and its CEO are seen using AI generated images on their website (including generated images depicting Tracer from Overwatch) hyping up ChatGPT on his Linkedin account, and are including "rewarding gamers with crypto money"
Users speculate that Chosen buying out NexusMods is to potentially train an AI model that generates mods

UPDATE: NexusMods' new owners, Marinus, Nikolai and Victor, posted a new pinned comment on Dark0ne's post to "clear the air on a few things"

"Hey everyone,
Thanks for the warm welcome! We’re as excited about Nexus Mods’ future as you are. This post was all about Robin, giving him the credit he truly deserves. He built something incredible, creating a culture that’s shaped gaming and modding as we know it. We're here to honor that legacy and carry it forward, but we need to earn your trust.
Now, let’s clear the air on a few things:"

Will you sell mods?
No. Mods will always remain free.
Will it cost money to download mods?
No. Nothing changes here.
Will you claim ownership of mods uploaded to Nexus Mods?
Absolutely not. Mods belong to the creators who create them. No changes will be made.
What additional monetization will be added/changed on the site?
Monetization is hard and Nexus Mods is a complex platform. What matters most is continuing to support mod authors, delight users, and keep the lights on. We’re not changing the core model. No aggressive monetization. No paid mods. If anything, we’re aiming for fewer ads, not more. We’ll take a community-first, listening approach, and we won’t compromise on what’s made Nexus Mods special.
Concerns around general statements about early monetisation of games industry start-ups
Hosting billions of mod files and running the infrastructure behind Nexus Mods isn’t cheap. The site was “monetized early” back in 2007 with premium memberships and honestly, we think it was done right. It enabled healthy growth while supporting the community. We have no plans to change the core of how premium works. It gives users choice based on their needs — and that’s a good thing.Ads? We’re not fans either. They’re a necessary trade-off to keep the site running, but our goal is to reduce them over time, not increase them.
Will you revoke Lifetime Premium?
No. Lifetime Premium means lifetime and it's safe.
What restrictions are going to be placed on free accounts?
None. Free accounts stay as they are.
Will Robin's [Dark0ne, ex owner] hands-on approach be lost?
Robin’s legacy remains, and he'll continue to be involved and help guide the overall direction of the platform
You won’t understand the community’s needs.
The Nexus Mods you see today is built by 40 incredibly talented and dedicated people - we’re listening to them, learning fast, and here to support what’s already working.
You have never made a Skyrim mod - how can you possibly understand us?
True - we haven’t. But neither did Robin, and he built something amazing. We’re here to listen, learn, and support the people who do — the mod authors and players. That’s how we move forward: together.
You didn’t mention Chosen in the post - why not?
This post wasn’t about Chosen — it was about Robin and the legacy he built over 24 years. We’re the new owners and ultimate decision-makers at Nexus Mods. We’ll share more about ourselves when we’ve earned that right. For now, we’re focused on listening, learning, and making modding even easier, and yes, you’ll see us around in the community being active.
Trust takes time.
We're committed to putting control back in the hands of creators, players, and communities. We’ll get back to building now.
I love the part in Oblivion when you get back to Cloud Ruler after trying to recover the amulet of kings and Martin's like "you're back! I told Jauffre not to worry :D" And then you turn around and talk to Jauffre and he tells you Martin barely slept while you were gone.
did y'all know there was originally going to be a moss shader in skyrim, but it remained unused until the dragonborn dlc used its own moss shader for the forests of solstheim? after admiring the mod markarth is mossy af, i realized the rest of skyrim was lacking in the moss department besides maybe a few models that have the moss in the texture itself so i installed a couple mods that execute it in a pretty compatible way. definitely feels like something that should've been in the game this whole time.
because i was already fucking with mods that required a new game and rerunning dyndolod anyway i switched to nature of the wildlands for trees and the new freak's floral meadows for grass and i think ive finally found the best combination of grass and tree mods. and this is without even seeing what the rift, hjaalmarch, and the reach look like yet.
the morrowind subreddit was infested by people complaining about no morrowind remake (which todd himself said will never happen lol) meanwhile i have morrowind remastered at home.
actually im keeping natavi's yellow eyes but still changing his hair because the yellow eyes are iconic. to me. the blue eyes we're not doing it for me lol
i was thinking of redesigning natavi Again to have azure eyes to indicate his lineage from azura/alandro sul but also give him a darker blonde hair color as a trait from being half altmer, since he wouldn't have yellow eyes anymore. and spent like a solid hour figuring out how to save texture files correctly for morrowind to actually load them. hell.
