i’m opening up 10 slots for commissions! once i finish those (timing depends on the size of each) i’ll reopen commissions normally. any excess funds will definitely assist me with other personal emergency bills ;-;
you don’t have to commission me — donations are extremely kind and helpful and the most helpful payment is sharing this just in case someone else might be able/want to help me out ^^
a/n: this is the last, and final, chapter of my sour series. :( so sad to see it close, and this was definitely the most difficult thing to write (it’s just gets hard to finish a series sometimes) but i’m so glad to finally be able to share the final chapter with you all. sorry this probably isn’t ending as most would like it to, but this was how it was always supposed to go :)
summary:
Sour. Ten years of sourness.
That was the taste life left in your mouth, but sourness sometimes has a weird way of twisting fate.
m. list ✿ ix. ✿ x. ✿ (final)
Ten years have passed since that night, where you gave into your future of hidden and secret... unhappiness.
Ten long years of watching Prince Kageyama Tobio play husband and future king to his Hiyashi princess and wife, Hiyashi Emiko, now Kageyama Emiko, future queen of the Kageyama kingdom.
“The future king and queen of Kageyama!” A crowd cheers distantly as they stand along a balcony, while you let yourself cry in the back row of this giant crowd.
Ten long years; your grandmother has passed away a year after her sickness turned into lung cancer, and a battle with which overtook her and your one last family member with which you had connection with is gone.
“Live long, [Y/N], and love hard. Even if it hurts.” Your grandmother whispers to you before sleeping a long sleep she would never awaken from.
Ten long years, and you had watch Nami marry a boy from school who’d spent his time chasing her around until she finally gave in after asking you for advice about it all.
“Give in and fall in love, you dummy… for me.” You had told her while holding her hand in the darkness of the laundry room at the castle.
Ten long years of being hidden in the shadows of a prince’s bedroom, the garden, the time taken off to spend in the countryside with him when he desired to be away from his wife.
“I love you,” Kageyama whispers into your bare shoulder as you pretend to sleep, trying not to allow your emotions to get the best of you once again as you think about where your life lies.
A lot had changed; you had changed. And more change was coming.

“Nami, can you help Lisa with her duties? She’s not picking up the slack when she needs to be because of that new girl, Ichika.” You murmur to Nami in passing as you run around checking on all the maids, looking over a clipboard with the list of what every single maid should be doing during the day.
You were now Riza’s assistant, training to take over her job as head of the staffing of maids. Riza was looking to take on a new job in the coming years: grandmother. And so, with you having nothing to hold you back from work, Riza had seen your hard work ethic and given you a promotion to take over in her place when she would be gone.
“It’s weird having you give me orders, you know,” Nami whispers to you, leaning over to pinch you, and laughing as you squeal and swat at her hand away. She laughs at you but leaves to do what you tell her to do.
You can’t help but smile after your friend as you watch her happily skip away, that silver ring glistening on her finger as her hands dance in the air as she does.
Nami hasn’t changed in the slightest, even after giving birth to 3 girls and harnessing a lovely marriage to a strong boy who owns a pig farm for a living. You were always jealous of her; she got the happy ending you always wanted.
“[Y/N]?” a familiar voice calls out, and you turn to find yourself looking at Daichi. His face is tauter, as if he’s aged, as if war hasn’t been kind to him when war broke out 3 years ago with the Oikawa conflict.
And well, war wasn’t kind to anyone, but his features hadn’t changed enough to be noticeable if you weren’t familiar with his features. He was still unmarried, much too busy with his prince as his delivery boy, apparently. You laugh as he holds out a familiar note.
“What’s he doing today?” You whispered, taking the note and placing it in your pocket for later. You weren’t about to be disrupted by a greedy prince today. Your hand holding your clipboard falls to your side as you look up at Daichi.
“He’s been stuck running away from her highness,” Daichi laughs, looking around awkwardly as he continues, “Princess Hiyashi has been raising hell trying to get him to… well…” Daichi trails off, sighing, “Well, you know.”
Ah. The need for a male heir. The hatred of it all dances on your tongue.
“He always runs away from her when she gets like this,” you say half-heartedly, and Daichi shrugs, “It’ll happen eventually.”
Life was so mundane as you watched Kageyama Tobio publicly love another woman. The only good things to come about was sometimes you snuck to see Kageyama, to chat about your day or what he was trying to stir up, to be in one another’s presence. To be in love, in secret.
“Have you told—” Daichi starts to ask you, but you quickly intercept him.
“No, not yet. I was going to do it soon, since I just returned to work today from seeing the doctor the other day.”
Your hand runs over your stomach anxiously, as if wiping your hands to get the sweat of nerves away. You sigh as you think about the day ahead of you. “I’m scared of what comes next if…” You can’t complete the thought, looking up at Daichi.
“He’s bound to be happy; you’re the only thing that brings him happiness, you know? He also knows your stance what’s best for the kingdom, and whatnot.” Daichi tells you, placing a hand softly on your shoulder. You smile up at him sadly, placing your own hand over his as you glance up at him.
Daichi has been your friend through this all, covering for you when you’re missing from work, covering with stealing you away for the last few years. Your supposed romance with Daichi was going strong, and you were frequently asked why you wouldn’t marry him.
You could never marry your friend, even if it was what was best for covering for your love affair.
“Oh, he’s requested your presence… it’s written in the letter,” Daichi prods you, “I would read it, since I have to give him your answer.”
“Oh, right, sorry,” you answer, and quickly flip it out of your pocket to read it.
Please save me from my hell of a day. Can I see you for lunch in the garden in the afternoon? Tell Daichi your availability and I’ll come and find you. – T.
“He’s not even giving me an option to say no, is he?” You question, glancing up at Daichi, who grins at you.
“He never does.”
You tell Daichi when you’ll be able to meet with Kageyama and watch him scamper away. You put the note back in your apron’s pocket, where it hides with numerous other notes you’ve gathered over the last few weeks, not yet taken home to be put into your box full of the same little love letters.
“Please, gods, give me the strength I need to finish my day,” you whisper to gods that no one really knows exist, running a hand through your hair before gripping your clipboard tightly and turning to find the next maid you need to instruct.

When you finally find Kageyama for lunch, he’s perched in a hidden area in the garden that you both have taken a new liking to over the years. It’s hidden amongst a small forest of tree surrounding the Kageyama castle, hiding you both from the eyes of the public staff and royal family. Daichi was the only person who knew where you both were during the middle of the day, if someone was needed.
As you cross from the bright light of the grass, and into the shadows of the small forest, your dreaded fear of what you need to tell him comes back from the early morning.
You wring your hands, trying to allow your eyes to adjust to the darkness provided by the shadows of bunches of evergreens as you look around for him.
But, as if magically disappearing, as soon as you spot the dark prince, your worries disappear. He has a large smile on his face, a blanket laid out on the grass and dirt surrounding you both, and a basket full of whatever goodies Daichi could have gotten from the kitchen staff for you to eat.
Even after years of unhappiness at never being publicly one another’s, you still can’t help but feel excited to see him.
When you approach, you can’t help but laugh as he tugs the skirt of your uniform as if that’ll get you down faster, and when you finally kneel down to him, he pulls you by your neck to kiss him passionately.
The kiss causes the blood to rush to your head, making you dizzy when you finally pull away, a hand on his chest as you push away.
“Good afternoon to you too, Prince Kageyama,” you whisper, smiling softly as he whines.
“Just a little more, one more kiss, please,” he begs you, and you can’t help but chuckle and oblige. You let your neck tilt back down to him, lips touching softly as first, before Kageyama hungrily chases after you, nipping almost at your lower lip as he does.
Your lunches when spent together are usually filled like this, eating only in a rush at the end to actually be able to continue with both of your days until the night when you can once again see each other.
When you pull away, Kageyama’s eyes light up in confusion, looking up at you from where he lays on the blanket.
“Is something the matter?” he whispers, releasing your neck from his hold and allowing you to sit up properly. His hand traces down the side of your body to grab at your hand, tracing soothing circles into the back of your hand, “You’re not giving in easily, and you only do that when you need to tell me something.”
Your eyes widen when realize he knows what’s going on through your head, if not in detail, but in emotion. He understands there’s a torment of feelings happening. You suppose that comes with the territory of loving one another for ten years.
“Promise you won’t get mad, and promise… promise that you’ll consider it.” You tell him, to which his eyebrows raise, and he sits up to be equal headed with you.
“What’s wrong?” he asks, not promising anything. How typical of him. You can’t help but sigh at him, looking away.
As you try to organize your thoughts, Kageyama doesn’t release your hand, waiting for your answer. A breeze brushes past you, giving you a small chill, but you pay not mind to it.
You need to do it; you need to tell him.
“Nothing is particularly wrong, per say, but… I’m really not sure how you’ll react,” you tell him in a whisper, finally glancing back at him, “You love me, right?”
“With my whole heart,” he spits right back at you, without missing a beat.
“Then… will you let me have one thing?” You ask hesitantly.
Kageyama doesn’t respond at first, just nodding as if to say go on.
“Your highness,” you always address him as such when you’re not sure what sort of emotion you’ll garner from him, “I’m pregnant.”
It’s as if the air goes stale, stopping whatever sort of breeze you had had before letting the cat out of the bag. You can’t help but stare at him straight on, determined to get the answer you want, the answer you need.
Please, dear gods, let him let you have this.
At first, Kageyama doesn’t respond, just looking at you with wide eyes.
And then it happens: a tear falls from his eyes.
“T-Tobio,” you whisper, raising a hand to his cheek that quickly begin to wet as he weeps, “W-Why are you crying—”
“I’m so happy,” Kageyama whispers, his face moving so his cheek and lips lean into your touch, “You’re the only one I want, and the only want I’ve ever wanted a family with…” a choke escapes him, almost like a hiccup, “If I could have only married you.”
Kageyama often gets like this when his world feels like it’s crashing down, and today must have been one of those days. But you can’t help but feel happiness from the reaction you’ve gotten.
He’s not upset, but estatic.
“S-So I can…?”
“I’m creating a way to have the staff live in the castle, so I can’t keep you and my baby to myself… I’m greedy,” Kageyama whispers to you, leaning up to kiss you once more and then leaning back down to kiss your belly, “I’ll have to tell Daichi.”
You won’t spoil his fun and tell him Daichi already knows, but just smile and lean down to kiss him once again, interrupting his murmurings of the future so he can hold you hostage and never leave him.
“So… it’s okay? That I’m… that we have a baby?” You whisper to him, unsure, “The princess won’t—”
“If she does, I have no problem getting rid of her issues,” Kageyama says venomously, and you can’t help but laugh at him; he would never do such a thing.
“But I’ll always protect you.” Kageyama whispers, “I’ll protect you, our baby, and the life we want, even if it’s all hidden in this castle.”
Hidden. The word always leaves a sour taste on you, but you can’t spare it a thought.
“I know,” you whisper to him, and lets your lips find his as he drags you to lay with him in that dark forest, hidden away from the world that threatened your relationship, but not allowing it to get you caught up.

Happiness has a weird way of making its way back around, even amongst sourness of life.
Sourness.
Sourness had its way of working its way in your days, leaving you feeling bitter, unhappiness dragging its way through your door when you never anticipated it.
Sourness came with Prince Kageyama Tobio, with the lifetime you led with him in secret, with his child that you raised knowing their father was going to be king someday, going to lead your country, lead your destinies.
It would never replace the joy of being in love with Prince Kageyama Tobio and the joy you helped create: a baby girl.
And joy was the only thing you could associate with her after years and years of a sour, bitter taste left in your mouth.
Sour. That was life.
But joy had its way of springing up when you least expected it, like Prince Kageyama Tobio.
And that was all that mattered when mixed with the bitterness of it all.

Princess Hiyashi is always watching, and it seems you finally figure out why.
m. list ✿ viii. ✿ ix. ✿ x.
The days began to blur into weeks, and eventually, it’s been three months since the arrival of the truth. Kageyama and you have been keeping your distance, and though you still occasionally get notes delivered by Daichi, asking for you to meet a certain person when night comes, you don’t read or acknowledge half of them. Mainly, you take them with a thanks for Daichi for his hard work, and leave them to sit in your apron as you waltz around doing the bidding of the Hiyashi Princess.
In the span of three months, you are called upon numerous times to be the maid for the Princess, as if Riza is rotating maids to see who is the best fit for the Princess. It’s as if everyone is being tested, and the Princess shall have her picking of whomever she wants.
But you notice the stares you get from her; Princess Hiyashi Emiko is constantly watching you as you work, as if her golden eyes see all and know your secrets.
Perhaps she does. You don’t know what goes on behind the royal doors in which the royal family and royal guests hide behind.
Your grandmother is still sick in the small home you share; the doctors tell you it’s morphed from a bad cold to pneumonia now, filling in the cracks of her lungs with water to fill what should be air. Her cough has worsened, and the doctors have tried prescribing medications to help her through it, but nothing seems to be working.
You can only fear the worst as you approach that third month.
*
*
When you arrive for work that morning of the third month, you are told by Riza to stay behind before attending to maid duties.
Nami hesitates before leaving you behind; she’s been sticking to your side after apologizing for an outburst she didn’t mean all those months ago. She knows you need support more than ever now, with that sense of impending doom lurking the back of your mind as you work and work to support your sick grandmother. You work long hours, hard hours, taking overtime gigs from Riza and asking for more shifts from girls who don’t want to come in.
Nami tries to help as much as possible, but there’s only so much a friend can do when she wants to live her life too.
As Nami walks away, Riza speaks up, a grin on her face as she does.
“[Y/N], you’ve been doing such great work, and I think it’s shown to the royal family,” Riza starts to tell you, a hand on her hip and your schedule in her hands as you wait.
“Thank, ma’am,” you whisper softly, smiling gently at her as you clasp your hands together in front of you. What could possibly warrant praise this morning?
“To get straight to it, Princess Hiyashi has told me who she wants working as her maid permanently recently, and it seems you’ve taken her interest. She’s personally requested you be moved to maid duty for her, and I think it’s a wonderful opportunity for you.” Riza tells you, smiling so wide at you that you cannot help but smile back robotically at this statement.
Why the hell would the Princess of Hiyashi want you to be her permanent maid? That makes no sense—
“That’s great, ma’am,” you tell Riza, “I’m excited for that.”
“It’s a promotion, you know. You could be her maid all through when she becomes queen and being the queen’s maid is a blessing. That’s how I got to where I am today, you know.” Riza tells you dreamily, “You’ve got a lot of potential, and I think this is a step in the right direction for you. You can always deny the request, of course, but I really think it’s a great opportunity for you. Since you’ll be the only one assigned to her from now on, you get a small pay increase and –”
The rest of her speech fades away as you think long and hard about this. You can’t deny it. A pay increase is really needed right now, and though you don’t know the intentions behind this Hiyashi princess, you know you cannot say no.
You are given your schedule, listing all your duties completely filled with attending things for the Princess as needed, things that used to be scattered to include helping Lisa with Princess Miwa, and helping set dinner for the royal family, but no longer include that.
No, you are permanently stuck on Princess Hiyashi Emiko’s watch, as if a leash is tied around your neck as you follow behind the one person you wish you didn’t have to see on a new daily basis.
*
*
Months continue, this game of cat and mouse with Kageyama dragging out as you begin to avoid Daichi when he approaches, dashing into other rooms or chatting with another person so Daichi has to turn away and try to return later. The notes you used to get prior become less frequent until none at all.
The girls all ask if you’re going through a rut with Daichi, wondering what could’ve happened in the last six months that would have you pushing away a royal guard. You don’t acknowledge it, and just say “sometimes things don’t work out” when they bug you.
Six months into the engagement period of Princess Hiyashi, you are told about the wedding.
“It’s next month,” Princess Hiyashi tells you, looking at you from the mirror attached to her vanity as her ladies in waiting attend to her makeup and hair. You nod, bowing softly with your nod as you acknowledge her comment.
“That’s wonderful, your highness,” you tell her softly, trying not to be as vengeful sounding as you feel. You want to rip that smile off her face and steal it for your own. You want genuine happiness over a marriage like she appears to have.
You want to be that women on the center stage in white with Prince Kageyama. You want to be the one he smiles at, stars in his eyes, as he acknowledges your beauty as you approach him with that royal tiara on your head.
Being queen, or for a matter of fact, being a wife, would mean nothing if Kageyama wasn’t the one standing at the other side of the aisle.
The Hiyashi Princess must notice something in your eyes as she amusedly looks at you, not giving you orders as you stand there alone.
Your partner for the day has attended to getting the sheets and sleepwear the Princess previously wore down to the wash, leaving you alone in the presence of the Princess and her ladies in waiting. This lonesomeness used to make you nervous, but now is so common in your daily routine. You pay no mind to being alone now.
But you do pay mind to the dismissal of all the ladies in waiting.
“I’d like to be alone with my maid, please,” The Princess whispers to the women surrounding her, making your eyes widen slightly.
Had you done something wrong?
The ladies look at one another, confused, and one even speaks up to ask, “Is there a reason—”
“Are you questioning me?” the Princess states harshly, snapping at her lady. She turns her ruthless gaze onto the one who asked, a gaze you see often when it’s just the Princess and her ladies in waiting, but never in the presence of the public eyes of the royal family. Her lady in waiting stiffens and backs away as the Princess glares at her.
“N-No, Princess Hiyashi…” the lady whispers in response. The women all turn away from her, the one who question the Princess giving you a glance of pity as she passes you by. It’s as if she’s whispering a prayer for you; you’ll need it, her gaze says.
You cannot help but swallow the saliva that has built up in nervousness. You wait for what she wants to tell you, hoping it’s just private orders that she doesn’t want her ladies knowing.
The Princess looks at you, a smirk on her lips as she watches you, almost cat-like eyes watching their prey. You stand still in her presence, not wanting to show any weakness to a woman you do not like. You don’t want to back down or be taunted.
“How do you like being my maid, [Y/N]?” she asks suddenly, her finger twirling in the liquid lip substance that sits on her vanity. It looks as if she is toying with a mouse as she watches you, waiting for reactions you do not want to give her the satisfaction of receiving.
“I have no complaints, your highness,” you tell her, smiling softly to sell the story. I hate it with my entire being.
The Princess nods, bringing her finger to her lips as she dabs on the red substance that stains her lips blood red. This is the appearance she wears daily, a strong lip to go with her usual quieter make-up features, trying to soften her naturally severe look. It does nothing to stop all the workers around her from being intimidated by a strong woman with looks to kill.
You’ve heard some of your fellow maids whisper perhaps her lip stain is that of the blood of her enemies. You can’t help but think the same thought as you watch her now.
“How do you find the Prince?” Princess Hiyashi asks suddenly.
Your heart stops. What does she know? Why would she be asking such questions?
Your eyes can’t help but glance away from her as you answer, “The Prince is very kind, from what I understand. I do not work with him directly. Um,” you stutter, lost for words, “Maid Hina, who does work under him, says that he’s very quiet, though.”
The princess sighs, as if bored with your answer, “So you’ve never spoken to Tobio, hm?”
You flinch as the use of his first name so casually. The way she says his first name, the way she lets his first name slip off her lips, angers you. Not even Daichi calls the prince by his first name, always addressing him as “your highness” even though they have been friends for years. You know you, along with the royal family, are the only ones who have been granted this permission to speak his name.
“N-No, your highness,” you tell her, lying through your teeth.
You’ve done more than spoken to him, but she can never—
Princess Hiyashi suddenly slams her hand down on her vanity, making you flinch once more as you watch her with wide eyes. “That’s a lie. I know all about you and the Prince.” She tells you, turning to face you. Her golden cat-like eyes have fury in them as she speaks, “You’ve been doing some naughty things with my fiancé, haven’t you?”
The realization hits you, hard, like a punch to the jaw. She knows you’ve been with the prince. How does she know?
“I know you’re in love,” she continues, taking your silence as if confirmation to continue, “I know you’ve slept together, I know you’ve told each other ‘I love you’ as if you belong to one another,” she now turns in her seat, standing from her seat and approaching you. Her robe drags behind her, falling off her shoulders, showing her stunning bare skin that lies underneath. Her hair falls out of the makeshift bun it had been tied into, and though her appearance would look like a mess on others, she still looks beautifully fierce.
“I know everything.” The Princess of Hiyashi tells you. You shake your head at her, beginning to deny it all, wanting to deny it all, because you haven’t seen him minus the times you’ve passed on the job in the last six months. You no longer share longer gazes, secret whispered words. You don’t belong to anyone anymore, not since her presence in the kingdom took him from you.
“Don’t try to lie your way out of it,” she whispers, finally face to face with you, grabbing your cheeks in her slender fingers to bring your gaze straight back to her as she applies just a little bit of pressure to scare you. She’s got quite a grip you hadn’t anticipated.
“Y-Your highness—” you begin to say, but she squeezes more painfully, locking your lips closed so you cannot speak back. Princess Hiyashi glares at you, golden eyes gleaming in the morning light as she presses closer, her nose almost touching yours. If someone had walked in, they might have thought you were being intimate with one another.
But you know better. This is her threatening you.
And though you’re not scared past being on the bad side of your boss, you know her next words reign true:
“You’ll never be his. You will never be queen. He belongs to me, and I don’t care what the hell the two of you do behind closed doors, but just know he is mine. He has always been mine.”
*
*
You manage to carry on your usual duties through the day, avoiding the princess past the morning call of needing to help her into her dress of the day. You tied it a little too tight, hoping perhaps she would pass out from lack of oxygen.
You knew where she would be all day anyways, so the task of avoidance was easy.
It was easy to busy your mind with your work, not even sparing to take a break throughout the day when Nami asked you to come to lunch with her.
“No, I’m not hungry, thank you though.” You bid her a smile and waved her off as you folded new towels on the Princess’ bed for her evening bath.
It was when you ran out of work that you worried.
And running out of work came sooner than you thought.
You miss him. You miss the dark prince.
The thoughts can’t stay away when you’re out of things to do, no distractions to hide your emotions.
Now late into the evening, you’ve just finished another additional task for the Hiyashi Princess as she sent her lady after you to do fetch some books for her. It’s without thought that you walk down the hallway.
You want to tell him your troubles, you want to ask for his advice, you want to hold his hand, you want to kiss him until you’re breathless.
It’s the hallway that leads to the outdoor garden behind the estate. The one that started it all, the one you had been avoiding walking down the last six months, as if to spur off temptation to visit that secret place you shared.
But it’s late, and your mind had wandered. No mind to it, you end up in front of the large double doors that lead outside. The guards on duty are not ones you recognize, and you smile softly as you approach them.
“Good evening, miss,” one bids you as you walk up to the door, “Taking a walk outside?”
“Something like that,” you whisper dreamily, nodding to him as you walk past the threshold and onto the stone pavement that surrounds the grounds of grass of the garden.
You can’t help but slip out of your shoes, wanting to feel the blades of greenery on your toes as you glide through the garden, approaching those past stone pillars that seem to have become a little overgrown with ivy. The gardeners have not been around to clean it up lately, you realize.
It’s silent as you walk, your footsteps not even making a sound as you step onto the sand-like dirt that surrounds the pond. Moonlight glistens off the water, reminding you of a happier time, and you cannot help but sigh in happiness.
It’s only a small moment of content before you realize you’re not alone.
You hear the soft masculine gasp come from beside you. You were completely unaware of his presence when you approached.
Perhaps you would have avoided coming if you knew he was out here.
“[Y/N],” that familiar voice breathes. It’s like a melody to your ears, but tormented whispers to your heart.
Your eyebrows raise in shock, but you can’t bring yourself to turn to him. You stiffen to a stillness you hardly ever have. You can’t face him, if you do, you really might lose it.
Today has been tough enough, and you can’t tell if God if on your side anymore. Does He love testing you?
“Please,” you whisper softly, a prayer to send him away. Please, dear Lord, do not—
But Prince Kageyama wants what he wants, and he won’t let you avoid him any longer. He’s had enough.
You can hear him stand, hear him approach you, hear him take a deep breath as he plans his next words. You just stare that at that glistening water, reflections of a past you wish you could relive again and again laying on a lapping water top.
“Please just look at me,” Kageyama whispers, “I’ve missed you.”
And the words do you in.
You look up at him, and when you see your raven-haired boy, ocean blue eyes staring back at you so earnestly, you crack.
You know you can’t run away from him anymore; you can’t hide from your fate. You’re in love and you won’t stop loving him. And so, you succumb to your destiny as you whisper to him.
“My P-Prince,” your voice cracks softly on the last word as tears come overflowing down your cheeks. Tears you’ve been holding in for months, emotions overflowing to the surface and cracking through.
Kageyama can’t help but smile softly, his hands going straight to your cheeks as he wipes away the waterworks that have started. But you can’t stop; you reach out, grabbing onto the buttons of his dress shirt. You grip so tightly you think you might rip the rich material that grazes your fingertips, but you don’t want to let him go.
“What’s wrong? Why’re you crying?” Kageyama asks softly, his thumb running along the top of your cheekbone and he wipes away the tears that keep appearing. He frowns at you, concern etched into his features as he looks your over, “Are you hurt? Did you step on a thorn?” It’s as if he ignores that you’ve been avoiding him, and today is just like another day like you lived six months ago.
You don’t speak, for fear of ruining this good moment you’ve had for the first time in months. You cannot help but silence him as you kiss him, the tears glistening down your cheeks as you hold him captive with your lips. You mix your apologies for avoiding him into your kiss; it whispers that you love him back and have missed him as well.
You can’t avoid the Prince any longer; he holds you in his grasp and you’ll never be able to leave him, even though you know you’ll gain nothing from this relationship.
You’ll never have a wedding of your dreams, you’ll never have a shared bedroom where your children intrude in the early morning, you’ll never share vacations and experiences together like a normal family would.
But you know you cannot escape your love for the dark prince; there’s no running away from him any longer. You’ve been captured, and now you’re stuck.
And honestly, you can’t help but allow the relief of acknowledging your future to overwhelm you as you kiss Kageyama again and again.

Certain things only come at night — the moon, the stars, fireflies, you. All of them glowing, all of them serene. All of them like something in a gentle dream meant for those who need to soothe their troubles.
And in a sense, maybe Yoongi is just that. Someone in need of relief, someone who’s spent years overworking his mind and body for goals people can only dream about. He’s someone who can dream of the moon, stars, fireflies, you, and wake up and still have the last one even as his lashes flutter open come daylight.
All through the night, you’re a dream that never stops.

Sensing how awkward B is, A invites B to watch the floats with them while they try to find their other companions. // “Oh, sorry for— Aren’t you in my class?” “Yes… you sat next to me for like a month before we switched seating assignments.”
2. Halloween — Halloween is a holiday celebrated each year on October 31, and Halloween 2020 will occur on Saturday, October 31. The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts.
Prompt: A finally has a chance to flirt in disguise with B at B’s Halloween party but as hard as B tries, they can’t figure out who A is under their costume. Eventually, the party gets interrupted and B doesn’t find out who A was, so B plays detective to find out who was flirting with them all night long. // “Hey, you come here often?” “Well yeah, this is my house.” — “… and I never got their name. But they were flirting with me all night.”
