i read a load of dead girls dance yesterday. and. i have so many thoughts i will eventually iron out. but mostly claires from a small town, tho not as small as morganville, and the danvers are working middle class. they can afford a house and debt isn’t constantly on her mind but she mostly looks for clothes in thrift stores and rarely buys new expensive clothes and she uses the same beat up back pack for a long time.

there’s this one bit in home where shane says olivers a son of a bitch, but he’s their son of a bitch. which honestly is one of the only good bits of the story besides the gangs relationships w vampires. and honestly that is the general feeling about oliver among them, he’s their asshole and if anyones gonna try and kill him they’ve currently got dibs.

so i hated basically everything about ‘home’ (the new morganville short) which literally reduced claire to looking after a baby and being there for shane to worry about. but there are definitely a few things i liked.

claire canonically sits on amelies left hand side. that is her seat and she goes to council/war meetings. i will be maintaining this : even tho claire doesn’t live in morganville amelie still considers claire her left hand and oliver her right. she still weighs in on the town meetings via video call and travels back when needed.

i will keep the concept of witches w morganville however the witches in the series developed specifically in response to vampires which is why they toxic to them.

also there are now demons. and therefore there are angels. so i will maintain claire being fae and how the fae came about.

!!!! vampire blood can be used in magic and is linked to demons. so i will keep my origin of morganville vampires. that they came about due to a deal w a demon and were made due to demonic magic.

claires magic isnt dangerous to vampires bc of that. hers is more in line w a demons and so there’s no negative effect from mixing fae and vampire.

theres a qoute in the story about how claire won’t back down from a fight even with a child, and how maybe that means she’s even less likely. bc she has a child to protect. and honestly thats right, especially in her legacies verse. she cares about the kids she teaches and she will fight to death for them
