If you wanna dance the mask, you must service the composer. You gotta sublimate yourself, your ego, and yes, your identity. You must, in fact, stand in front of the public and God and obliterate yourself.

“I have had the time of my life with you. But we are bad for everyone around us. Other people suffer because of us. Apart, we’re okay, but together… we’re poison.” BETTER CALL SAUL - S06E09 - Fun and Games

Rhea Seehorn as Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul S06E05 Black and Blue
it’s weird bc we talk about “the moral decay of kim wexler” but i actually think her moralizing impulse is stronger than ever. although filthy casuals interpreted kim for a long time as being the moral bulwark holding jimmy back from becoming saul goodman, usually what we saw from kim was not “don’t do that, jimmy, it’s wrong,” but “don’t do that, jimmy, you’re gonna get one or both of us in trouble.” not the same thing! what’s really happening imo is she’s becoming more convinced of her own righteousness, which, y’know, is a good thing when you’re right but a very bad thing when you’re wrong. forcing the kettlemans to pay back their victims was cool and good. but i’m gonna wait and see what she can convince herself she’s right about
