What Had Happened Was || Vincent & Alma
He muttered a quick apology for almost endangering her fruits basket. He gave one last squeeze before breaking the hug. Vincent step aside to let Alma enter the apartment. As usual, Socrates relished with the attention and purred happily in Almaâs arms.
âUm, my last job was in Grenada. Kinda a letdown,â Vincent said. He made the most of that trip by buying some spices for some interested people.Â
He smiled brightly and grabbed the fruits basket. âThanks! These look amazing,â Vincent told her gratefully. This was going more pleasant than Nateâs sudden appearance (no offense).
âOh, Iâm sorry to hear that,â Alma said over Socratesâ happy purrs. Had Socrates been with Vincent the whole year? Alma hadnât seen him. âBut Iâm glad youâre back. Light has missed you so much, but donât tell him I said that.â Alma scratched behind Socratesâ ears.
âI figured you missed my fruit,â Alma laughed. âI grew all your favorites, just for you. They donât have produce that tastes like that in Grenada.â Alma cleared her throat. âSo, I ran into Nathan on my way in.â
Vincent smiled at the mention of his best friend. âDâaw,â he drawled in a cheeky manner, âmy lips are sealed.â To prove his point, Vincent pinched his thumb and pointer finger and slid them across his lips.Â
His grin widden as he plucked a couple of grapes. âYouâre the best!â he said and popped one into his mouth. Ah,Â
âO-oh,â Vincent breathed out, âdid you?â He wasn't really surprised that Alma and Nate knew each other (when you're immortal, you're bound to know almost everyone). It was the sudden change of topic that caught him off guard.Â
