❛ You look like this gerbil. ❜
Izaya appears smug, pressing the forward button on his remote until the gerbil in question is located. He presses play and motions toward the screen, settling back comfortably.
❛ I even named him Kida-kun. Look. So tiny. So helpless. A naive, brave little gerbil in a dark world. He has the same look in his eyes as you, don’t you think? Melanccholy, with a hint of irony and teenage angst, mixed together and blended with boyish cuteness. ❜
❛ You really gotta stop psychoanalyzing rodents, Izaya-san. ❜
He doesn’t see it, but he isn’t really looking -- he settles against Izaya despite his own clearly begrudging words. They had settled into an odd kind of relationship, one that Kida did his very best to not fully question the majority of the time, as that often led to a great deal of panic attacks and existential crisis.
And Izaya-san lacked patience for those. Kida rests his cheek against his shoulder, eyeing the gerbil.
❛ ... God. You don’t think of me as a caged gerbil, do you? ❜
