Basically my first thought when this scene came up....my second thought being "omg venti"
I know he probably couldn't see the little projections of venti and varka and whatever but imagine if he could he'd be so confused

Hello there! I'm really glad I found a blog that gives wakfu the critique it deserves, I feel like a lot of fans just glaze the show to no end and either ignore and/or fail to see its shortcomings. I agree with a lot of the criticisms you've presented on your blog, and idk if you've talked about this, but the number one thing that really irked me about season 3 was the weird trauma guilt trip they did with Yugo regretting his actions against Nox and Qilby. Qilby I can maybe understand feeling guilty over that, but one of the things that made Nox such an interesting villain was that Yugo didn't actually defeat him. I saw you've talked before about inconsistencies in the plot so you're probably aware of all that, but one of my favorite aspects of season 1 was that Yugo technically lost to Nox. Nox defeated himself because his goal was too far from his reach to begin with. Claiming in season 3 that Yugo "killed" Nox annoyed tf outta me. I love this show but they coulda stopped at season 2 and i'd be fine with that.
Sorry for the ramble! I also wanted to say that your art is gorgeous! Have a lovely day 🌸
Oh, that's a hilarious topic. I've brought it up plenty of times with friends, just never on Tumblr.
Whether people agree with it or not, I've never understood why Yugo suddenly became so hung up on this. Between Season 2 and that point, we had the Wakfu manga and the OVAs, and then Yugo suddenly wakes up one day and goes, "Now is the time."
Honestly, this is one of the reasons I don't see Yugo as a particularly autonomous character. He often feels more like a puppet of the plot. His personality shifts depending on what the author needs the story to be.
That's why in the OVAs he suddenly turns into this aggressive, jealous guy who insists he'll never be with Amalia while simultaneously sabotaging negotiations with the Count at every opportunity. At this point that even Eva calls him out on it. Earlier Yugo, while admittedly a fairly archetypal kid, would at least try to understand his enemies. Look at Nox situation in s1. Yugo wanted to talk to him, understand him.
Then OVA Yugo shows up screaming shonen lines and trying to punch his way through every problem. But where did that come from? What was even the setup for the fight with Adamai? What happened in Emelka that suddenly awakened all this aggression?
Season 3 just continues this trend. Yugo becomes a vehicle for the author's reflections on past villains and moral responsibility, all while criticizing... the very people who helped save the world multiple times.
What a terrible Brotherhood of the Tofu.
Saving the kingdom from collapse and preventing the Shushu from taking over the world, truly unforgivable crimes.
Yugo already let Nox go. Nox got his farewell. As for Qilby, there wasn't exactly a better option at the time, especially considering Yugo was still young and not even a king yet. So where is all this guilt and resentment suddenly coming from?
And then Season 4 puts him right back into angry chihuahua mode whenever Qilby is involved. Which makes the whole angst arc feel even stranger, because it doesn't actually lead anywhere. It doesn't change Yugo, it doesn't resolve anything, and it doesn't produce any meaningful conclusion.
And thanks for the compliment! Have a nice day too.
Thank you for the lovely reply! Your insights on Wakfu's writing has helped me a great deal in understanding specifically what irks me about the show. I always knew I was frustrated with the way Yugo's personality took a nosedive after season 2, but I probably would never have described it as accurately as you. I really liked Yugo in the first two seasons because I enjoy happy, innocent characters. But I strongly agree with you that afterwards his writing felt almost like fanfiction, like a teenage author taking out their issues on their favorite fictional character, completely ignoring that character's canon personality. If that makes sense.
Thank you for all your wonderful analysis on Wakfu. Your blog has helped me understand the show a lot better, as well as what to be careful of in my own writing.
The funniest thing is, this isn't even an analysis in the full sense of the word. If you read interviews and artbooks with the lead writer's words, you literally have the whole picture before your eyes. And which characters are referenced to what, what anger Oropo personified at the French government, that Yugo represents Ukraine, and the Dofus are nuclear weapons, and so on. From such interviews and words, you can understand his attitude toward the character and his writing. Regarding Yugo, he said he wanted to "teach him lessons" through villains and, again, Toross.
…Maybe I wouldn't be so harsh if I hadn't read all this, but it is what it is.
I see! I don't do a whole lot of research into wakfu itself, so I guess I meant to say that your blog is a very convenient source of concise information. I might look into those interviews now, though, because that's really fascinating. I could always kind of smell the political agenda behind wakfu, but I didn't realize how rampant it was. Thank you for indulging my ask, this has been a lovely conversation!

Hey girl do you play dragonvale
omg how did you know HOW DID YOU KNOWW!!!! I DID A LONG TIME AGO FOR A BIT But then I actually found myself playing the spinoff of Dragonvale a lot more!! It was called Dragon Story... I remember always wanting the diamond dragon but to breed it was like winning the lottery 💔💔 My 10 year old brain did not know how the system worked LMAO! My goat...
I remember drawing the dragons from that game on the side of my worksheets over and over again, and watched videos on how to breed the diamond dragon, but I never had the in-game funds to make it possible 💔 omg bro thank you for asking me this I totally forgot about my roots!!!! I might need to download dragonvale or dragon story and give it another go actually!
YESSSS OH MY GODDDD I recently got dragonvale again to get ideas for dragon designs and because ya know... That's my childhood..... And I kept thinking "wow Tumblr moot tosterkoi would love some of these..." I WAS RIGHTTT
I'm currently trying to get my hands on this guy:
I'm so obsessed with this thing omg
Gahh that's so exciting I knew you were a dragonvale kid
Diamond dragon low-key looks like majestic pony she's gorj
WAITTT I LOVE YOUR GUY 🥺 I love the hanging flower tail so much awewww what a creature... I can also see your dragon venti in this guy a bit with the butterfly-like wings!! Speaking of, now that I think about it, I can definitely see the dragon story dragon style leak into my own dragon designs a bit BAHDHSHS
Naw bro I'm actually goung to try dragonvale again, I somehow forgot that downloading childhood games was an option.. Literally just got the game again to try it out later too 🫡 I wish you the best of luck getting your hands on your guy!!! Breeding dragons can either be the best thing ever or a grind but for peak designs like that I think it's all worth it 🔥🔥🔥 It's like a hive mind, fellow mobile dragon game players know another when they see one LMAOOOO
HEHEHEE THANK YOUU and actually I discovered this dragon yesterday..... So I actually liked him for his design's similarities to my style, not the other way around hehe. Also I don't have to breed him 🙏 there's an event right now and I almost have enough event currency to buy him, though I can't collect the purchase until I'm level 25 sighh
Gahh I'm so excited I miss having dragonvale friends

Venti: Mom? ....Don't be mad. I'm pregnant
Istaroth: ....*How*?
Venti: I don't know! I wike up and there was a dragon in there!
Istaroth: are you sure it's a dragon?
Venti, holding the egg: ...yeah, I'm pretty sure
Asmoday: Is that allowed?
Istaroth: It is now
Zibai: oh, hey. How'd it go?
Venti, holding a juice box with one hand and a box of baby clothes with the other: Mom said no wine
Zibai: lmao get wrecked
I imagine it's like shugo chara when she sat on her bed and prayed really hard and the next morning there were eggs in her sheets with no explanation
