finally getting started on reworking my character refs for the millionth time starting with the one i struggle with most: Amelia!!

she's one of my favorite charcters that i've written and i wanted to portray her personality accurately with the perfect outfit but i'm such a perfectionist with her because i love her so much. i think i've finally done it, this is the first design of hers i've made where i feel happy and don't immediately want to go back to the drawing board

will post more ref sheets as i go, gotta get em done for art fight!

happy to say that i got my code and im finally an artist on VGen!

very excited to soon be accepting commissions again on a new platform - nothing against ko-fi in terms of functionality but vgen seems to do a better job at getting your name out there from what i've heard

Artist New Years Resolutions!

I try to create a separate list of new years relations related to my art so that I can be sure to focus on them rather than mix them in with the miscellaneous ones of my daily life. I figured I'd post them here so that I can reference them myself, and maybe someone can find some inspo from them!

Down below so things don't get cluttered ⬇️

1. Find fun in my art style again

This one is the biggest problem for me. There's a lot of backstory towards why I don't like my current style, but all of it can be summed up by me trying too hard to impress the wrong people. My older art style wasn't great, but I had fun with it. I would've loved to improve upon that style and shape it into something I could be really proud of, but instead I completely regressed and threw myself into something else, something I don't find fun anymore and end up hating days after I finish a piece. I want to go back and find my cartoony and fun style instead of these try hard attempts as major details and realis, so this year I plan to overhaul my current style again and hopefully come out with something I love this time.

2. More style consistency

Obviously this one will happen a while after the first lol. My art page is a mish-mash of totally different styles and it's starting to annoy me. I know some people have a few different styles but usually you can see the similarities between them or can tell they stem from the same artist. I don't see that in mine and it just gets on my nerves.

3. Take more commissions

My current full time job gives me existential dread I would love to not have to be here.

4. Build an illustration portfolio

My depression got really bad in college and everything I made for my graphic design courses was really low effort and I hated them. So much so that I didn't bother putting a portfolio together with them, which you kind of need to get a job in any art field. I've made my peace with the fact that graphic design is actually not my passion, but illustration/character design is. I hope to put together a portfolio this year and maybe start looking into the industry.

5. Backgrounds

This resolution has been on my list for 2 years now. Maybe this year will be when the lovers part of our enemies to lovers arc starts.
