The Pendragons’ Merlin Anniversary Festival 2018 - Announcement!
Ten years ago Merlin started airing on BBC One, and for five seasons we fell in love with the characters and ships, the most important one for our blog being Arthur and Gwen (Arwen). In order to celebrate the Tenth anniversary of Merlin and Arwen, we will be hosting a Fan Fic and Fan Art (graphics, gif sets, drawings, fan mixes, fan videos) festival where we will give people TWO WEEKS to submit prompts based on a theme. Once prompts have been submitted and posted, participants have ONE MONTH to write or make fanworks based on the prompts.
The theme of the festival is Celebration.
In a few days, we will post a thread asking for prompts based on the theme: Celebration. Prompts CAN BE anything: one word, a sentence, song lyrics, images, simple plot ideas etc, as long as it fits the theme.
People WILL submit their prompts via a Google Form and have TWO WEEKS (from the 10th till 24th of October) to do so.
Once this is done, we will compile all of the submitted prompts into a list and post it. Participants then can SELECT AS MANY prompts they are inspired to do, and make their fanworks.
Though this will not be compulsory, we will also POST a Google Sign Up Form. This is so we can have an idea of how many people aim to participate. Sign-ups won’t close, so if you decide at any point until the deadline to write/make something you can still sign up.
Participants then have ONE MONTH (from the 24th of Oct) to write/make their fanworks, before posting them on the relevant sites (FF.Net, AO3, Live Journal, YouTube, Tumblr etc) on the posting deadline, which will be 21st November 2018.
We will also require participants TO SEND links to their fanworks to us so we can share/promote your efforts on our sites for Arwen fans to enjoy!
Now we have briefly explained how the festival will work, here are the rules and guidelines:
Obviously, this is an Arwen festival so submissions must be focused on this pairing. However, other characters and pairings can feature, as long as they don’t infringe on the Arthur/Gwen pairing.
Submissions can be set in canon or modern AUs, they can be canon divergent, or canon AUs. As long as its recognisable as Arwen, anything goes.
Fan fics must have at least a minimum word count of 500 words.
Graphics and drawings should be a minimum of 500px by 600px.
Gif sets should have a minimum of 4 different gifs.
Fan videos should at a minimum be 1 minute in length.
Fan mixes should have a minimum of 5 songs.
Participants are ALLOWED to choose their own prompts if they want to. Also multiple participants can SELECT the same prompt/s.
Participants are ALLOWED to combine prompts if they choose to.
At the halfway mark, we will be ASKING participants to UPDATE us on their progress by completing a Google Form.
When posting your fanworks to the various sites, please make sure to USE any triggers and/or warnings if they are any.
On the posting deadline, participants MUST SUBMIT links to their fanworks to our email [email protected] with the following information:
In the subject heading, please put your username AND type of fanwork (i.e que-sera-sera88 - Fan Fic).
In the email, please copy, paste and fill in these forms (which ever one/s are applicable):
