Kirin took a sip of energy before they could muster an answer. “It’s... it’s hard to know. There’s someone out there, for sure- old sightings of Tron from a few cycles back. I don’t know if it’s him. Some part of me hopes so, because he’s our best shot at taking down the Occupation without Flynn. That is, until you showed up,” he added quickly.
“I’ve never been out to Argon, but I think it’s the best place to look for him. It’s the last city that hasn’t fallen to Clu. Flynn never saw it, it was too far form the portal to make the trip, but maybe... Maybe they’re both there.”
The medic shrugged. “They were practically inseparable. I never met either of them, but everyone knew how close they were. There’s a good change they’d look for each other.” Kirin looked out the window, into the hazy mist on the horizon. “Clu can’t find either of them, not as long as they’re outside of the cities. The terrain is too hard to navigate his search parties through, and even fast data takes a while, if it’s not torn apart by gridbugs.”
"Yeah, from what Flynn wrote, I... I got the feeling they were pretty good friends. Sounds like Tron kept him out of trouble, or tried to, anyway. Hard to manage at the best of times." Alan smiled shakily. "Can't help but wonder if the reason Flynn never brought me here was because one of us at any given time was bad enough."
It was all starting to come together, to become real -- the Grid; the coup; the absolutely senseless violence of the Occupation. The devastation and loss in Bostrum, where Kirin was from.
"Regardless of whether they're out there... I can't stay here. The portal's closed now, but someone must have seen it." He looked out toward it then -- the beam no longer stretching up into the eternal starless night.
Maybe all of this should have scared him. But where the fear should have been, Alan only found cold, bitter anger.
He shook his head, swore under his breath, and took a moment to collect himself. "...What's the quickest way to Argon?"
