Funny that you ask, though. I don't think about it often -- or at least, as little as you can when the Occupation's always five ticks from knocking down your door.

And if it ever comes to that... I don't think I mind the idea of being forgotten. There are worse things, y'know? As long as the work continues. As long as there are other programs willing to take it up.

But I fully intend to see it through. Someday, I'll see a free Grid again. So will you. So will all of us, System willing.

((I gotta ask - any thoughts on Lion King AUs for Ed? (Let's say at least one AU where he is a lion and at least one AU where he's an animal of your choice (which might also be lion, but I wanted to cover my bases, lol))))

I had to go and rewatch the movie for this, because it's been a while lol.

But yeah got several ideas!

So not Ed related but figured it is worth mentioning: Clu is Scar, the Hyenas are the Occupation, and Mufasa is Flynn... Not sure where Tron is in this one, though... Zazu?

But as for Ed... I can see another AU where Dillinger Sr. is Scar, and Flynn is either again Mufasa or maybe Simba. If Flynn is Musafa again, then Sam is Simba. I imagine in this one, Ed is sort of orphaned. His father has been exhiled from the pride, and living with the Hyenas and who knows where his mother is. Or maybe Ed isn't part of the pride and also living as an exile out with Pumbaa and Timone.

As for one where he isn't a lion... One where he's an Ostrich would be funny, though I think a vulture... either an egyptian or bearded would make a lot of sense, given he's kinda misunderstood by many, kinda like how vultures are. Otherwise I think one where he's scissortail kite would also be fun. I don't have a lot of plot for this one, I just think Ed as a bird would be fun.

Oh goodness! I would love to try my hand at Alan Bradley. I honestly think Pavel would be fun just because of how unhinged he is, but I don't think I could pull him off.

Other than that... I'd like to branch out, maybe write a fandomless muse that travels between universes, or maybe one of the other characters from my original universe, the Order of The Pharos (@order-of-the-pharos-universe) (I originally wanted to turn it into a comic, but never had the time, nor the patience to learn to draw... like maybe Tycho or Johannes.

It wasn't all bad being away from the city. It allowed him to avoid the stifling presence of the Admin for at least a little while. Though, it did give him way too much time to think.

Rinzler had been chasing a few rogue programs via Lightjet into the Outlands, and they'd gotten in a lucky shot. His jet went down, and though he bailed at the last second, he just so happened to land hard on his other baton, shattering it.

His leg wasn't in great shape either, but nothing Clu couldn't fix after he limped back to the city.

The Admin would be more upset he let the resistance programs get away. It wasn't often he failed.

You didn't fail, you let them get away.

He failed. A sound from above made him look up, snapping him out of those warring thoughts. A lightjet; one of the resistance members must have circled back.
