The humidity outside was brushing against your cheeks, slightly different from the one under your mask all day.

Today the weather was strange, fresh in the early morning, hot later during the day. Air felt vague, heavy, carrying something it shouldn’t. Walking up to the door of the cottage like mansion you noticed heavy clouds, ´storm coming up’ you thought to yourself.

You already told Arthur that you’d be sensitive today, stressed out, you would make a fuss if he was being lazy or messy.

Some days, patients, lab work, coworkers, management, traffic was making you lose sleep, trigger nerves that you didn’t know existed.

Days where you saw the schedules and knew those coworkers that you secretly call vampires, would suck your energy, break times, lunch time and what’s left over of your energy.

Greedy little vampires too absorbed by their work ethics and have to make sure management thinks they’re better than you.

Their world revolved around work, working, management recognition. You just didn’t need to be involved into their ethics. The pay was good enough to work respectfully, not enough to get involved dramatically.

You knew Arthur worked from home on Sundays, in case he’d need to called for any national or international emergency. He couldn’t be stuck in the middle of London. He had to be close to any airport.

When you pushed the door open of your shared house, the air was still heavy but with a familiar scent and comforting light coming from the living room.

You felt home in this dark (almost dark academia) aesthetic you chose for the main entrance. You slipped off your shoes, socks humid from standing up all day, you threw your coat on the chair next to the door. Skipped on the stairs to take off these uncomfortable clothes sticking up to your skin all day. You immediately changed into something way more comfortable of your choice.

Arthur was a man of routine, he couldn’t live a day without having his morning walk, his lunch sandwich or the sacred tea time he loved so much.

Tea time with Arthur was on the couch, in the living room, facing your garden, the sun blinding you through the storm clouds coming up from the eastern side of the country.

17:34 - 5:34pm

You sat next to him on the high end couch, the matching wooden table filled with pastries, baked goods, the simplest earl tea. The tea essence filled the glass cups you had against the table. The smell and the heat coming up from those fine cups made you already feel better. Today, out of usual he made chocolate chip cookies, however he usually goes for those plain, but rich and buttery cookies with a bunch of nuts. He probably asked someone for a some American cookies recipe, they were so good, so comforting, the chocolate chips melted in big chunks of creamy and sweet pieces altogether. Arthur wanted pastries, like every weekend. Creamy pastries, large macarons filled with whipped cream, strawberries, any sort of sponge cake. Sunday tea time routine was filled with sweets, warm tea, and naps.

You sat there silently having your tea time together, then before you could bother your mind with the thoughts of dinner or what to pack for tomorrow’s lunch time. You two chose to nap on the couch, tea time barely cleaned off the wooden table, the storm already drowning the country side with large grey clouds and heavy rain, insects sticking to the windows looking for shelter and dry areas.

You both slept comfortably into each others arms on the large couch, until you had enough energy to wake up from this tea time food coma, stomach filled with sweets, brain filled with happiness, and well rested now, until you would wake up for dinner together.
