Have a Magical Moment Christmas!!!
You’ve been looking at the sparkling lights on the trees for weeks! You’ve stared at your presents for so long, you can almost hear them saying, “open me, open me, open me”! (And it’s taken every bit of your strength not to.) You’ve marked off the days on your calendar; you’ve heard every Christmas song ever written. It sincerely feels like it’s taking F—O—R—E—V—E—R for Christmas to get here! But today’s the day…
CHRISTMAS is FINALLY HERE!!!
Whether it’s the new bike you’re hoping to get, the dress that looks just like ‘Suzie’s', the party you’re having, or all the candy you’re going to eat, you probably have some big EXPECTATIONS of how especially awesome today’s going to be. (Expectation is just a big word for how we want things to be or how we think they’ll be.)
I love expecting great things; it keeps me excited. But like everything else we love, we have to be careful with our expectations. Sometimes, we become so focused on what’s getting ready to happen, or what might happen, we miss the MAGICAL MOMENTS – or you could say “Sparkling Moments” - that are happening right now!
Magical Moments can be hard to explain; everything can seem normal. But you know in your heart that this moment is extra special—your smile’s a little brighter and you laugh a little longer than usual. You can share magical moments with your best friend, your parents, even your puppy dog! Other times, you might be the only one who thinks a moment’s magical. That’s okay! Magical Moments are different for everyone—what makes them magical is that they’re special to you.
Now, here’s the thing about Magical Moments— they’re way easy to miss! Imagine yourself playing softball or baseball. You’re outfield. You know your job is to catch the ball, but even though you’re in the right place, if you’re not paying attention, you won’t see the ball when it’s coming toward you and you’ll miss it!
The most important thing about Magical Moments is that you experience them! So, if you’re sitting around the tree and happen to find yourself gazing out the window wondering if Christmas is moving faster at your neighbor’s house, or thinking that Grandpa is taking too long making his coffee, or wanting your mom to hurry up and take the cookies out of the oven (they sure smell ready!)…if anything like this starts to happen… if your mind starts taking you on a journey.…
