it’s going to b r e a k her heart once helo catches onto her true intentions, but there’s no way to avoid him as he stands right by the eligius ship door. people were missing, perhaps wounded or slowed down and they’re getting ready to miss their deadline to get aboard the ship before it takes out, the threat of the hythylodium getting closer and closer. zara wants to do at least one good thing in her life even it it meant risking it for death. unusually quiet, she attempts to hide her face as she briskly passes by the group at the door — she didn’t want those, especially helo, to see her teary eyes with her attempt at leaving without saying goodbye, she couldn’t say goodbye. zara feels a hand grasp her forearm firmly and while she doesn’t want to, she forces herself to look up at helo, his words echoing hauntingly in her ears.
“ i can’t lose you too! ”
it’s enough for a sob to escape her throat, the rush of emotions overwhelming her greatly and she can’t maintain eye contact long, if she does she will never follow through. “ i have to do this, helo! ” her voice falters slightly, glassy green eyes blinking away warm tears. zara badly wants to reassure him that he wasn’t going to lose her, that she would come back to him just before the door closes, but she is stubborn and does what she wants — and she knew exactly what she wanted to do. if it were her out there, she wouldn’t want to die alone. shakily, her hands cup his face and finally she allows herself to look into his eyes, the saddest of smiles pulling at her features before she spoke softly, “ may we meet again, helo. ” with final words, zara frees herself of his gaze and dashes out the opening of the eligius ship before the door shuts.
