what are some tips for first starting with makeup? like your tips that you've found along the way that you wouldn't necessarily find on the Internet!! sorry if this didn't make sense~~

idk if these are on the internet or not but this is stuff i would want to tell people that are just getting into makeup ;u;

start off small! you don’t need to start off with a huge collection, and try not to buy into too much hype from youtube/bloggers/etc. if you’re just starting out then you don’t really need contours, a million palettes, every kind of eyebrow product etc. i know it’s really easy to feel the need to buy when you see all your faves with a huge, huge makeup collection but trust me, you’ll never use all of it and it won’t be worth it.

it will vary depending on you and your preferences, but i reckon you should start with one of each of: foundation/bb cream, eyebrow product, eyeliner, eyeshadow palette, mascara and a couple lip colours.

continuing from the last point, try to research products thoroughly and not just buy stuff because it’s cute/hyped etc. i don’t even wanna say how much stuff i’ve bought for cute packaging or from rave reviews and it’s crap or doesn’t work for my skin type.

in addition to that again, try to test stuff out before buying it if you can, and if you want to experiment with new colours/kinds of products etc that you’re unsure of, try drugstore versions first in case it doesn’t work for you.

you will make mistakes, but you will get better! your application isn’t going to be flawless the first time you use liquid eyeliner, and that’s fine!! (lmao looking at my old selcas still makes me cringe, my eyebrows were so :~~~~~~~( )

probably obvious but always clean off your makeup properly, and never, ever sleep with your makeup on. a good cleaning + skincare routine supports a good makeup routine!!
