Bugging at Greatstone with the Peter Lynn Vapor 3.8
Back to Blackheath for some wind traction fun. Just re-discovering Wilco from my music history, who have been prolific in their output since I last really listened to them. One of my favourite tracks is the soundtrack on this film.
Some haphazard footage caught on my iPhone which was sat on my gear while I tried very hard to squeeze something out of what was a non-existent wind. Made entirely on my phone it reminds me what a great tool it and iMovie are - not a plug for Apple, but to think you can do this so quickly and so simply. The music is Frank Black of the Pixies from the album Teenager of the Year (1994) - given the link between the Pixies and an Apple advert at the moment it felt apt.
A low wind day in May - much less wind than forecast, and even with the biggest kite I had with me (9.4 Vapor) it was hard work. Mind you watching back I can see I needed to go more downwind to kick off those up wind runs. The benefit of watching yourself back and doing a bit of self coaching!
A video record of Spring time kiting in the UK - all on a buggy, but at different locations and with different kites (including PKD Century IIs & Peter Lynn Vapors).
The new Ozone Chrono Depower kite - which is setting the bar higher in terms of power and finesse for kites that suit land, sea and snow.
An interactive map of kite buggying locations. Please leave a comment if you want to provide information about a particular location, or have a location that you'd like to include.
A great place to buy and sell second hand kiting kit - over 1000 members worldwide, so a great place to hook up with other people interested in this constantly developing sport.
A different take on a kite buggy using as much carbon fibre as possible.
Light winds on Blackheath - but some good medium kite action: those turns are getting better.
Greatstone - SE England. A kite buggy session in which I achieved a new PB - 30.7mph.
A great film of the Ozone Quantum race kite filmed in Romo, Denmark
The website of XXtreme - the manufacturers of the Xxtreme Apexx Race Buggy, based in the Netherlands, selling worldwide.
The website of a Dutch Race Buggier manufacturer. These buggies are designed to combined strength and speed. Based in the Netherlands, these biggies are designed and made by Martin Faber
A top video of an expert buggier navigating strong winds on a blustery beach.
Kite buggy session in the sunset on Blackheath in SE London.
