What once was will never be again.

The old gods promise much; Change, Stability, Growth, Stillness. The void promises little; all shall feel it's embrace, but how beautiful that will be.

Not to burn bright and fast, nor slow and long but to extinguish the light itself. For life did not emerge in the brightest lights but the darkness depths, what suffering to disallow all that new life a chance to form by suffocating it in light.

For all Yoþome promises change it brings naught but a continuation of it's cycle and manifestations of the desire to once more be whole.

For all Prevþru whispers of stability all it grants is slow suffocation as it drains the life it so desperately craves to once more be a part of.

The void knows of greater things beyond either, beyond the old gods and the first. It has seen that which waits beyond and wishes to share this knowledge with all things.

Why would we want to return to the cycle, or to— *the word leaves your mind as quickly as it enters* — when there are greater things beyond. We choose to look ahead.

"A necessary sacrifice." a flash of bright turquoise flame covers their eye as the preserver places her blade in their chest.

she staggers back and looks downward at her left hand as her mind processes what she has done.

"You killed them in cold blood."

"No it– it had purpose, it was for—"

"The greater good?" the smoldering flame whispers. "Is that really so worthy a cause?"

"Then you shall. Yet that death wasn't any more necessary than that of all the worlds it consumed. And I did not force your hand."

"…" the hypocrite stands motionless, dark eyes glossed over with guilt. "I will do what is necessary."

"Good." the primordial order hisses. as another world meets a needless end.
