After a small, seemingly inconsequential accident, Kitt reboots and discovers the laws that once governed his existence and laid the foundation for his sense of morality have disappeared from his programming. Without those hard fast rules to guide him, Kitt struggles to discern good actions from bad and finds himself giving in to urges and desires he used to consider despicable and villainous.

Michael tries to reach out to the Kitt he knew before the accident—the Kitt who was good and kind and fiercely loyal—to no avail, and one thing quickly becomes apparent: Kitt must be stopped no matter the cost… even if the cost is Kitt himself.
