Facts
"Political philosophy is found in great books--those by Plato, Aristotle, Locke, Rousseau and others of the highest rank... You should spend much more time with the great authors than with the professors, and you should use the professors to help you understand the great authors; you should not allow yourself to be diverted or distracted from the great books by professors.”
Harvey Mansfield (1932-) American academic.
Boom.
The push on the far Left for the United States to cut military funding to Israel will do nothing to improve the plight of the Palestinians. In fact if successful, it would almost certainly worsen their plight. For Israel will still be vastly more powerful militarily, but they will now have fewer high precision weapons and less technology for isolating hostile targets and intelligence gathering. This means that if it is attacked in the future by Palestinian terrorists, it will have to rely upon cruder military methods that will rack up even higher numbers of civilian casualties. The option of text messages, phone calls, and leaflets providing advanced notice to civilians, delays (all of which can forewarn the enemy) and any [militarily] inconvenient assistance provided by the Israelis to the Palestinians may be off the table. These are all indulgences that Israel can better afford because of the rich assortment of technologies furnished by the U.S.
But these protesters do not care about a logical assessment of outcomes just as they do not care about a logical assessment of why so many innocent Palestinians are being sacrificed in the first place (the immoral tactics of an utterly unscrupulous terrorist organization willing to sacrifice its own people).
