The secret about being "cool"
Let's spill the beans about the concept of "cool girls" and why you don't feel cool. The other day I was having a conversation with my boyfriend about how I used to be "cool". He was confused and asked why I thought I wasn't anymore to which I explained it was because I don't go out anymore and I don't dress up like I used to. He said something that made me reflect on my statement.
Is being cool really about what you wear and what you do? Or is being cool being authentic to who you are?Â
Any person that I have ever deemed as "cool" was authentically themselves. They expressed themselves in ways that said "This is who I am, and I don't care what you think." This is not to say that following the polka dot trend and buying the newest Rhode lipgloss makes you lame, but learning how to follow trends that truly inspire you instead of following every trend to fit in can really change the game(although I do love a good polkadot).Â
There is a trend on social media, chasing the "cool girl aesthetic". Do we see how inauthentic this truly is? Why do we care about being cool? Why are we living for others? Has this always been an issue people battled?Â
How can we relearn to live for us? I'm sick of being judged solely because I don't dress like everyone else.Â
I wanna know what you guys think.Â
