When Lucilla and Acacius are shown to be the ones that have made a plot to kill Geta and Caracalla
You can tell that this hurts Geta due to his eyes getting glassy and his voice breaking
Honestly, I don’t think he was at hurt to find Acacius but finding out that Lucilla was helping…
He and Caracalla wanted her to adopt them as her sons! I mean, come on!
Now, Caracalla…
Oh my God, this actually hurts because he’s looking at Lucilla in disbelief then he looks away
It’s as if he’s thinking, “she wouldn’t want to kill my brother and I, right?”
I mean, they can’t look at them especially Lucilla because they can’t fathom that she would go along with something like this
They both have their outbursts but once Acacius and Lucilla are gone, Caracalla starts to calm down
You can’t tell me that Geta didn’t go to his room after this and lost his shit then broke down and cried while Caracalla stayed on his throne and broke down
I made my mind up and decided that even if I didn’t get any response back from my idea of an arranged marriage with Acacius, I was still going to write a part two because I can!! So, buckle up and let’s go!
Even though you two were husband and wife, you were two strangers living under the same roof
You slept in the same bed but your backs faced one another
When you awoke in the morning, you would find that Acacius wasn’t there
You had become accustomed to this
You would make your way to the dining area and see there was breakfast waiting for you but no Acacius
Again, you had become accustomed to this
You would spend your days trying to find something to occupy your time but you would always end up in the gardens
The only time you and Acacius occupied the same space was dinner
However very few words were exchanged then you both would retire to bed
Acacius would show you a bit of kindness by kissing your hand, “good night, sweetheart”
You would never deny that Acacius was kind to you but you were still lonely
Acacius was aware of this due to your maid telling him how she would find you in the garden crying so he invited your mother, uncle and younger sister
He didn’t know why he felt this sudden flutter in his chest when he saw your face and eyes light up at the sight of your younger sister
He was puzzled when you spent the majority of the afternoon in the garden with your sister and spent little time with your mother and uncle
It wasn’t until dinner when he realized why you had spent all the time with your sister
Your mother and uncle spoke about how much longer until you and Acacius had children
Acacius felt embers flaring in his chest at how your mother spoke about how you were nothing more than a “foolish, little girl with dreams”
You felt your cheeks flush and your heart beating against your ribcage as Acacius addressed your mother to not speak to “his” wife in such a manner
You and Acacius escorted your mother, uncle and younger sister to the door
You could feel a knife being plunged into your heart and twisted at the sight of tears in your sister’s eyes as she hugged you
You plastered a smile on your face and promised her that you would see one another again as you wiped her cheeks
Acacius had found you in the gardens. It was the only place that you would find some kind of solitude
He came to a quiet halt when he heard your soft sniffles
“Sweetheart,”
He watched as your spine immediately straightened and the back of your hand wiped your cheeks
You felt Acacius sit next to you on the bench but you didn’t dare look at him
“Are you all right?”
You tried to reassure him but you knew that you weren’t fooling him
He gently cupped your cheek with his large, calloused hand and turned your head to face him
He felt his heart twist at the sight of your puffy eyes and flushed cheeks
You don’t know what possessed you but you felt yourself melt into Acacius
Your head rested on his shoulder
You worried that he would protest by pushing you away but he surprised you by wrapping his arm around your shoulders and resting his chin on top of your head
This was pointed out in the replies on my last post about Geta so I had to give my thoughts about it
Can someone please give these two a hug?! Jesus H Christ!
Anyway…this moment. This moment is where I don’t see a man but a little boy
Gets is looking out at the crowds in horror because he’s realizing the consequences of his and his brother’s action toward Acacius
They were consumed in their anger at Acacius and Lucilla’s betrayal which led into the streets of Rome being filled with the angry citizens and fire
We can see before this scene that he was trying come up with a reason for their actions but faces reality when he sees the people of Rome rioting and calling for their heads
This is where we see Geta break down and hides his face in the curtain
This makes me go back to my theory of Caracalla not responding to Geta’s outburst possibly due to my theory that his father would hit him harder if he began to cry
Someone please get tissues! I believe that after taking majority of the beatings, Geta would bury his face in his mother’s dress so no one would see him cry
Oh my God?! Why could they not have had a happy childhood and someone to protect and love them?!
One side is the public image that acts like he can crush you like an insignificant insect and no one, not even the gods, can touch him
The other side is when he’s alone
He paces back and forth going through the emotions in his head as his tongue swipes across his lower lip and twists the ring on his pinky
He wants you to hold him to your breast and twirl his dark honey locks between your fingers as you give him constant affirmations that he’s doing well as an emperor
