“This is nice.”
Hell yeah Bojack writers.
It’s hard to get all the things I admire about this show out in a single post, but in short, I’m so in awe of the writers ability to deal with such harsh real world issues with care, compassion and humour. Whilst at no point diminishing how horrible and genuinely traumatizing they are. ‘Time’s Arrow’ and ‘The View From Halfway Down’ are my absolute favourite episodes and I’ll be thinking about them for a while.
I love that the ending doesn’t feel completely hopeless. It’s not perfect, not happily ever after and not all questions answered… But it’s satisfying enough…. you can fill in a lot of gaps for yourself. It doesn’t feel like a full stop on all of the characters stories and lives. And I love that. You know they’ve still got growing to do, and hopefully they’ll continue to do it after the credits. Because life goes on. It’s not happy but it’s hopeful. It feels very Bojack. I’d say it’s realistically hopeful too. You can’t change what you’ve done, you have to take responsibility for it all. Face the consequences today, and you can do better tomorrow…. but no one has to stick around to watch you do it.
Hell yeah Bojack writers.
