Born in Germany. Has a sister who is 14 months older than her. Her mother abandoned them shortly after Klara was born.
Her and her sister were very close but people gravitated more towards her sister even her father.
She wanted her father’s attention and love more than anything.
All her life she’s been jealous of her sister but not to the point of hating her, she loves her and just wishes she wouldn’t feel this way.
They moved to San Francisco when she was 11.
All her life people have shunned her away because since she was a child people and other kids thought she had a mean streak.
Found out that her mother was not dead like her father had told them when she was eight, but kept the secret. Visited her when she was 16 and realized pretty much that her mother is a nasty woman, like evil to the core and she fears that’s why she has all this meanness within her.
Was accepted into Yale, thought that would gain her father’s approval but it didn’t so she spilled the truth about her mother in front of her sister (who was clueless) and then left the house. Hasn’t spoken to them since.
Moved to NYC for a while before heading to university at Yale.
After graduation got a job at a publishing house in Los Angeles and she’s been here for two years.
People might think she’s a bit mean or cynic but she’s also deeply emotional and feels very deeply even if she doesn’t show it. Realist but still has some of that youthful idealism.

Despite her own opinion, she is not ‘evil’ or ‘mean’ by nature. That’s an idea she has formed given who her mother is and how she takes after her personality-wise. Klara is a realist and that has driven her to be a bit of a loner as not a lot of people like to listen to the truth —although she could work on her delivery.
She has an emotional side and after all, she craves for the affection that was denied to her throughout her life although she will never admit it. She feels too deeply but she keeps all these emotions inside, rarely letting them out.
Klara is a bit of a contradiction. She has an external cynicism and wrath that is countered by a pure hopeful and idealistic youthful outlook. Despite her best efforts to follow what she thinks is her nature of being hard-hearted, she is continuously drawn to poetry, beauty, mystery, and even love.
She has a great moral compass and can discern right from wrong so when she is being mean or hurtful, she is one hundred percent of what she’s doing and the consequences of this.

Klara speaks German fluently, and her accent is pretty much gone although sometimes when she is upset her German accent slips.
She used to play tennis back in Germany, something she picked up again to impress her father but he only attended a few of her matches even if she was actually really good. She doesn’t play often anymore, but once in a while she likes to hit some balls.
Has no idea what she wants to do with her life. She is only content with her work at the publishing house, she likes being an editorial assistant but her boss is starting to ask her about her plans for the future in the company and she doesn’t know how to respond.
Often takes walks after midnight, she has trouble sleeping so that helps her.
Lives in a one-bedroom apartment which is barely decorated as she always has this feeling that she might have the impulse of leaving one night and never coming back to California. This is also why she hasn’t gotten a pet but she is convinced that the day she gets one is the day she has found her home.

I think you're so good and I'm nothing like you: Her sister. She is fourteen months older than Klara and she is someone who is very charismatic, people really like her and everyone thinks she can do no wrong. You can go along with that or maybe change it and in reality she is not as good as she makes everyone believe.
Echoes of friendship: Klara has never felt like she’s had friends of her own. She has always struggled to get people to come close to her, let alone try to befriend her but since she moved to college she is more receptive to establishing friendships. Perhaps this person is the closest she has to a friend.
I'm the loser of the game: People from her past when she lived in San Francisco or people who know her sister.
Strictly business: Someone who works in the publishing world or wants to become a writer. This could also be her boss, I’d love that connection.
Thin walls: They live in the same building, so pretty much this is a fancy way to say neighbours.
Bad blood: Now while she doesn’t have a lot of friends, she probably has made a lot of people mad over the years. I wouldn’t say they are enemies but they are people that have been victims of Klara’s meanness.
You wouldn't be the first renegade to need somebody: This could be a friendship that could turn into something more kinda connection. It could be angsty idk. But pretty much this is someone that wants to get to know Klara or at least become friends but she keeps putting these walls between them even if she really enjoys their company.
Wicked games: Friends with benefits connection. There’s something between them but it’s mostly physical and not really an emotional connection.
Right where you left me: The only person Klara has ever formally dated and she liked being around them. It looked serious but then Klara broke up with them out of nowhere.
