How do we feels about gaylois with Asterix speaking in different languages? In like, the fanfiction lovey-dovey way?

Yk, the flirting / admiring / actually expressing their lovee for the other person? But in a different language so the other doesn't know?

I know that in some comics Asterix can speak languages that Obelix doesn't, so it is possible to do in a fairly canon way, but... idk how I feel about that trope for them specifically. Like, yk, does it fit at all?

Cuz I'm mostly in the boat of "can practically read each others minds with how close they are" but I just read a fic with the whole language trope and thought of them QwQ so!! tell me;

Would Asterix talk to Obelix in a different language to hide his feelings from him?

Ngl there are a LOT of medias that I wish I could just download every last scrap of lore for so I could go crazy with AUs, redesigns, comics, "fics", etc. This time its Asterix and Obelix XDDD

I still wish I could just download all that lore, but I made some decent progress none the less! And it hasn't been a drag so that's a plus! XDD

43 days after this post and I've read through 10 of the original comics, seen the Mansions of the gods movie, secret of the magic potion, conquers America, and the 12 tasks of Asterix. I still plan to keep consuming more comics, shows and movies where ever I can, but that's a good start!

I also had a wonderful back and fourth conversation with a brilliant fanfic writer during this time. And she was so gracious and allowed me to adopt her fic into my AU structure! So that will be a fun thing to talk about soon enough! :DDD

BUT FOR NOW! I figured a great way to kind'a "officially" step into the Asterix fandom was to try and redraw some of these test sketches in my updated/practiced style! :))

I was very pleased with that updated hug drawing. The first one looked so stiff to me, and those thick legs just don't belong to Obelix <XD

I've got so many ideas brewing for this AU.. 😈🙏 on top of branching off of that awesome fic I was allowed to use, I have angst ideas for Getafix and Valueaddedtax because of course I do XD

I plan to get around to all this in due time, but I fear that Art Fight might get in the way for a while.. Oh well, I'll see ya'll in the fandom whenever I see ya! :DDD

Watching Asterix and Ceasar (1985) right now, and I absolutely love when that one legionary starts describing the gauls & Asterix' village like—

"[…] Gaul is the most troublesome. And of all the villages in Gaul, *that* one is the most terrifying. Never set foot in that village. They're bloodthirsty savages, nameless monsters, horrible brutes with no human feelings, they're wild animals."

And then the camera just pans over to Asterix and Obelix happily returning from a hunt, all smiley and everything lmao :DD

Astérix at the Olympic Games is my personal favorite live action film.

Up until this film included, the live actions were great. Then the 4th and 5th live actions happened……

They're just each other's people. I love that, I love them both whether they're viewed as platonic or romantic— as long as they're Asterix & Obelix, I'm happy.

Julius Caesar and his army conquers all of Gaul except that little village over there because they're using drugs.

This is (funnily enough), actually true and a part of canon of Asterix & Obelix (actually maybe more of a throwaway gag than anything, but it is there!!), as in the comic Asterix and the Banquet Obelix does say this line here:
