I watched Lars and the real girl I never thought that movie would make me feel better about my autism. I mean Lars stims in public, has his comfort item everywhere, has fidget toys at church, doesn't apologize for his behavior, he has a community that cares about him, sticks up for wanting things explained to him. I know he isn't confirmed autistic (probably bc they didn't want to say if he was or wasn't) but he is very heavily autistic coded. I loved seeing him get a solid friend group and fall in love with a friend who I also see as being autistic as well.
I picture Grace as Ryan Gosling during Lars and the real girl. Not just bc chubby Grace mmm good but bc it feels more realistic for a middle school teacher to just be some dude.

yesss!! They just hear he is a convict and run with it!! When in the movie is is extremely selfless and has a HUGE sense of brotherhood. He has soft moments and cares a lot for others. Those people are doing this to him but he still feel bad when he hurts them. He was wrongfully jailed and has trauma from events in his childhood, being in prison and losing his friends. Sure he has gone cold and shut down more emotionally because of what happened to him. But He still has feelings and a personality.

I think him finding out one fictional character of his is being shipped with Ryan Gosling is milder and hilarious in comparison.

He does have like an. energy drink and is like oh fuck no how do you have this Grace its just straight acid. Grace explains he used to chug them almost everyday in college.
he lets Grace yap and Grace didn't question why he grabbed his face to "see if he was real"
he gets frustrated when Grace, Rock and Adrian talk science to each other and once exclaimed "we get it your all smart". Grace then had to apologize. Then Simon had to say they don't need to dumb their conversations down, he just got frustrated and how the COI talked down to him despite him being somewhat intelligent people just assume he isn't.
When they first found him the Eridians treated his infections, skull fracture, bleeding and arm. But he is blind in his left eye, still has the scars and still has the teeth.
They had cell samples from the others on the hail mary and treated his wounds with the skin they made from them. Grace had to inform him he does technically have a dead mans skin on his forehead along with some taken from him.
he NEVER goes anywhere near any clothes even close to the ones he had on in the ship. He does have to wear some of Grace's outfits. (they don't exactly fit but Grace doesn't mind)
Grace once joked "you're quite the butcher" as they were making dinner and Simon snapped shouting "that's not who I fucking am don't you EVER say that about me ever", and had to apologize profusely.
On the rare occasion he still prays but mostly because of positive events and for thanks. He also prays to his mom. He knows that's not how it works he just likes the idea that she cam still somehow hear them.
Grace LOVES hearing Simon talk about his life especially his childhood and all the games he played with his friends and all the trouble he would get into.
He likes knowing he still has positive memories about that place and tries to keep them alive. Grace finds it interesting what games made their way to space and what games seem to have started on the space station.
Adrian shows him how to craft jewelry and he is surprisingly good at it and finds it calming
he finds himself making tree shaped jewelry most often especially if he just makes whatever his brain wanders to.
He crafts Grace a wedding ring when he's ready and tells Rocky and Adrian about this human mating ritual.
