Queer readings aren’t “alternative” readings, wishful or willful misreadings, or “reading too much into things” readings. They result from the recognition and articulation of the complex range of queerness that has been in popular culture texts and their audiences all along.

NEW HOUSE = NEW SUBURB = NEW TRAM LINE = NEW FACES.
being gay is such a ride because if you meet another gay person you can just bring up some gay popular media to break the ice and it’s not an exaggeration that the other person absolutely will have seen it because if something gay happens in pop culture all the gay people are like ‘yes gotta see that one gay thing’ because there are legit like 8 gay things ever like imagine if straight people got excited about every single thing with straight people in it and all flocked to watch it like sorry but that’s physically impossible it would take you 12 lifetimes to consume all that, but gay people? nah takes us about 2 days.

There was a wave which lost its way and found a tree. There were questions in the air. These two awkward creatures were not by their education prepared to meet. The one could have drowned the other. The wave could have had its brow broken. But they fell in love and since, the sea is green and the forest is blue.

“The concept of portraying evil and then destroying it - I know this is considered mainstream, but I think it is rotten. This idea that whenever something evil happens someone particular can be blamed and punished for it, in life and in politics is hopeless.”
Hayao Miyazaki (via study-of-annatomy)
The love expressed between women is particular and powerful because we have had to love in order to live; love has been our survival.

The rarest of the rare! Photos of Susan Sontag and her girlfriend, Cuban-American playwright Maria Irene Fornes. If the dates on the back are accurate, Susan would have been around 28 years old.
These were taken by Morton “Morty” Schleifer (Walter Kerell’s brother) and posted to LiveJournal by the user personalist in 2010.
