danny sat on the bench, just trying to take a breather. he had halfway fallen through the sidewalk when he was trying to get home and now he was just trying not to do that again or disappear for the whole day. his head in his hands, he felt someone sit down next to him. “this seats taken.” he mumbled.

“oh, sorry. i was just waiting for the bus; i didn’t mean to bother you.” since her car was out of commission at the moment, public transportation had become kayley’s best friend. thank god she didn’t work the night shift. “are you alright?”

Tink had once heard a rumor that it was a solo woman who had taken the lost princess, but she always refused to spread that potential piece of information around. The last thing she needed was people adding the fact that she had a single mother to list of reasons why they thought Tink was the lost princess. “Nope,” she lied with a shrug. “Just that they probably raised her like their own child.”

kayley nodded, plugging all of this into her phone. hopefully the more people she talked to, the more information she got and could gather a list of potential victims and suspects. “got it. do you know anything else? even a rumor could help me out.” did she take her job too seriously? maybe.

Tink hesitated before answering the questions. Kayley seemed chill enough when she helped her change a tire, but she also seemed quite interested in this lost princess thing. And Tink really didn’t want to open up or invite any question about herself. But it would also be rude to just not answer. “Well… She’s been missing for years. Apparently she was taken from her parents or whatever, and no ones ever found her. She’s blonde, today is supposedly her birthday, and she has green eyes. That’s about the most that we know since she was taken as a baby or whatever.”

kayley appreciated tink ever since she helped her change her tire. she seemed nice enough, and it was great that she was willing to help her out since none of her coworkers seemed to want to. “blonde and green eyes, got it.” she nodded to herself. “no one knows anything about the person or people who took her? man, woman, other identity?”

“so, you have a lost princess here? could you tell me everything you know about that?” being new in town, and a police officer, kayley figured she might as well gather information while she enjoyed the festivities.

“yeah that’s real convincing …” van mumbled, more so to herself but she was certain the brunette could hear her as eye stepped closer. her eyes had fallen onto the deflated tired, and suddenly the mechanic in van was interested. “run over a nail or something?” she asked, nodding to the vehicle.

kayley could hear it, but decided to keep her own comment to herself. “i must have, but i didn’t fully inspect the wheel yet. it’s more annoying than anything.”

lil smiled slightly, “you sure about that? i like insane people. they’re much more fun than normal people.” she tilted her head to the side and looked at the tire, “i can’t fix that. sorry.”

“maybe a little insane. not like the scary insane, though.” she smiled. “it’s not a problem. i can change it, no big deal.”

Sometimes a girl just needed to clear her mind, stop obsessing over the latest projects and just focus her mind on something else. That’s how Tink found herself driving aimlessly around the island. She was on her way heading back home, feeling much more relaxed when she noticed a car pulled over and a girl standing out near it. Pulling over, Tink shut off the engine and jumped out to go help. Corona was a great place to live, but that didn’t mean it was perfect, and it wasn’t exactly safe for a girl to be out on the side of the street alone. Plus, the blonde could get a look at her car, maybe get a new idea for something to add to Van’s racer. “Didn’t think you were insane. Just frustrated,” she promised as she walked over and bent down next to the brunette to check out the tire as well. “Do you have a spare?”

“frustrated. that’s definitely the word.” kayley nodded. she honestly didn’t think anyone would stop, but she definitely appreciated the help. it would go quicker with two people working on it. “i do! could you help me change it? i know how but i’m not the fastest at it.”

“everyone keeps telling me to do both! i might just have to do it.” jen had been hoping someone would talk her back into reason but it seemed that wouldn’t happen. kayley was right, though, she could worry about tomorrow later. “Then show me to the drinks!”

“because they know how to have a great party. i commend them.” she took a drink from the bar before taking a sip. “what should we work on first, then? the making out or the getting drunk?”

being new in town, kayley didn’t have that many friends, so when she heard about this party she decided to head out. what better way to meet people, right? looking around, she was in awe. “some party! do you know the birthday person?”

– “If my memory serves me well then it is not a good party unless you’ve made out with a stranger or gotten so drunk you can’t walk straight. So, which will it be for me? Making out with someone or getting drunk? Help me decide.” Jen said with a smile. 

“why not do both? i always say less is not more.” kayley laughed. “it’s a party, so you can worry about tomorrow later!”
