Occasionally he still lets me wear him. He’s such an active little guy, and he’s grown to hate being constrained. But sometimes, the stars align ✨ and he’ll rest against me and watch the world around him, observing rather than doing. A late night post just to pop in and say hey, happy new year 👋🏻✨ We’re still here and we’re still kicking, although weakly so because at the very least I’m still sick. No matter how slow I take these first days of this new year, whatever this is that I have has long overstayed its welcome. But in my downtime I have managed to make myself a few goals for the new year - reading a book a month, knitting as many hexipuffs as I can for our very own family #beekeepersquilt, simplifying, finding a better rhythm for us. Savoring the good moments with my babies. We’ve had a rough week over here, with an urgent care visit on Christmas Eve, one little one with pink eye, the other with pink eye and a cold, and mama with a bad case of strep 😩 I. am. exhausted. But also incredibly grateful it’s only pink eye and a cold and strep, and not the millions of other much worse things it could be. Almost 8 months in the books with this one. He started taking steps a couple of weeks ago. He’s full-on mobile and fast and so hard to keep up with. He loves when I hold him just like this, eating whatever I’m eating, and clapping his hands. He hates his car seat, sitting in a shopping cart, and when I walk out of the room. A few days ago I realized I hadn’t knit a single thing for either of my babies for Christmas. The few spare moments I get each day for picking up my needles have gone to so many other projects, but I just couldn’t stand them not having something made by their mama.
