Philip Johnson, Ghost House, (1984)

This enclosure located on the grounds of the Glass House is built in the shape of a gabled house, but made of chain link and steel. The structure is a tribute to Johnson’s friend, the architects Frank Gehry, who elevated chainlink fencing ti the status of avant-garde architecture. The function of this 16.5 x 21 foot “house” was to protect the flower garden located within from roaming deer.It is split down the middle and rests on an old foundation left from the original farm house that occupied the property.
