vivianabernathy:
Marriage was never something Vivian had ever even considered. She was the opposite of Knox in that respect. Sure she’d had a string of boyfriends, but none had every amounted to anything over than a broken hard. Meanwhile her brother seemed to crave that type of relationship - although admittedly his attempts weren’t always successful. “Do I really strike you as the settling down type, Knox?” she asked, raising an eyebrow at him. “I’m married to work, and that’s really all I need to be to be successful.” Maybe it’d be nice to feel looked after, but it wasn’t necessary. Although if she was honest, she was enjoying whatever was going on with Harry. She couldn’t let anything like that on though. “If they do exist, it’s hardly going to be in Frostford. The calibre of the men here is decidedly low. I don’t think any of them would know how to compete with my working hours either.”
It was a foreign concept to him, that anyone would not want to settle down. Perhaps it was the way their parents had practically beaten it into his head from a young age, but there wasn’t much Knox wanted more. But maybe his sister was right, and it wasn’t in the cards for her. He’d heard rumors that not everyone was the marrying type, but if anything that was bad for Viv’s business. He shrugged, moving to settle back in the pool chair. “You deserve to be happy. Maybe you should let yourself. That is all I have to say about it. If you are truly happy alone, then I have no problem with it either way.” And that was true; all he cared was that Vivian was content. “That is true. But the city isn’t terribly far, surely there could be a catch or two there. And it would make them conveniently located for work. A nice lunch date or plus one for work affair,” he suggested.
