It’d been three months since they saw each other, the rigorous demands of work and school separating them physically for hopefully the last time in their lives.
They didn’t sleep.

Bright once joked that he and Kongpob must have the best angry sex in the world for often as they bicker and occasionally argue. Arthit throws a coaster at him and Knot laughs so hard he spills his drink, distracting everyone from Arthit’s flushed cheeks and Kongpob’s subtle eye-roll, the one he only breaks out when their friends say something he thinks is truly stupid.

Once upon a time, there was a kingdom high up and close to the sky.
Within this kingdom were all of the usual things that went into a kingdom; crops and livestock, storefronts and inns, gentry and knights, a royal family and common folk. Most importantly, to this story at least, there was a prince.
The prince’s name was Kongpob and, as the youngest child, he was third in line for the throne. While his oldest sister had been raised from birth to be queen and his middle sister raised to be her right-hand, Prince Kongpob could rarely be found within the palace walls. From a young age, he would find adventure wherever he went and soon found himself beloved by the people for his heroic and straightforward nature. Be it slaying a beast or pulling carts for elderly farmers, the prince was never far from the hearts of his people.
Prince Kongpob was, to any who asked, a beloved young man who had only one fault, which makes itself known shortly after his twentieth birthday.

Khaofang isn’t bitter.
Sure, she’s liked Kongpob since she first saw him, and sure, she’s been trying to gather the courage to confess for months, and sure, her feelings are hurt and her pride is hurt and she is sad. But she isn’t bitter, and she’ll get over it. She liked Kongpob, but she wasn’t in love or anything. Maybe she could have been, given a few more months, but Kongpob had been blunt but kind in his let down. Hadn’t given her even a hint of hope to hold on to.
And she can appreciate and respect that. If she can’t be with him, then at the very least, she wants him to be happy. If he’s already taking care of someone’s gear, and he seems so serious about the responsibility, well…that must mean something. Must mean he loves the person he cares about very much. Is happy with them. She very much wants him to be happy.
So she isn’t bitter.

Arthit has never been a very jealous person.
He’s always been a cowardly person, and that has led to him losing out on relationships or things he’s wanted, but he’s never begrudged whoever actually managed to gather enough nerve to reach out for what he’d been silently yearning for. If anything, he’d been envious of them, that they’d been brave about it. He’d never been angry at Jay for confessing to Namtan; it hadn’t been jealousy that pulled him away, but a bone-deep ache that, once again, he hadn’t been brave enough to try first.
