Gagosian Gallery: London

This gallery was separated into two areas one which contained a small room around the corner from the much larger gallery. The small room had some work by Harmony Korine (b1973) which was called Fazors (Image 1, 2 and 3). These pieces showed a very illusional effect with the vanishing point concept to them. They were painted in oil, which you noticed more when walking up close to the art pieces. However these pieces seems to have influences of light by adding white to them it created a much brighter feel to them, which almost made them seem like they moved slightly, but not as strongly as an optical illusion,
“I’ve never really felt certain in the way things begin or end. It mostly exists in its own time and logic. More like a vision”. —Harmony Korine
The other larger gallery contained artwork by Albert Oehlen (b1954) who created these unusual style piece on very large scale (Image 4). Plus the layout of this artist’s work reminded me of art in Saatchi gallery with a lot of white space surrounding it apart from the flooring. The shapes and structures within these painting had a sense of movement and secret images within, but made you interpret it in different ways. He overlapped different surfaces and creates a combination geometric or gestural forms to his work. There was even pieces that showed the bleed of paint, which you can see above in the close up (Image 5).
