“You really were. Too bad you couldn’t stay that adorable,” she said, pretending to shake her head sadly that he wasn’t the same little boy any more. “You know what I mean. I promise I won’t be a hover sister or something like that and completely make you hate me by hanging around too much,” she said, letting it go so he could move back. “You’re not supposed to make me feel bad for my height and lack of strength. You’re supposed to say I have other strengths,” she said, sticking her tongue out back at him like a child.

“Cute, you know it’s a wonder how your boyfriend finds you cute. When your actually annoying.” He argued as he made a face at his sister as he nodded. “I wouldn’t hate you, think you are annoying oh yeah, but that’s also a daily thought.” He teased her as he then smirked. “Like blushing, or tripping over air, or dropping books and being clumsy.” Kory now was just poking fun a Diana because he could be a dick.

As the male passed him and made such a normal approach to the male being home after such a long time, he smiled. He turned and closed the door. “No…I don’t want him too either… I didn’t know anyone was home.” he admitted. He moved forward and enter the living room before looking to the baby. He was handsome on video call but in person he was perfect. “Hi, little one.” he said softly crouching by the baby.

“Just got back with Ryder maybe an hour ago? Lizzie had a doctors appointment and didn’t want to take the little man so I brought Ryder home for the night with me.” He said as he grabbed a bottle for his son and then walked back into the room smiling. “That’s your uncle bub, he’s one of the good guys.” He gave his son a little nod but the baby just reached for his bottle. “Sorry he’s like us, got a one track mind when foods on the table.” He chuckled picking his son up and sat on the couch giving his son the bottle. “So what are you doing back home other than meeting this little stud?” He asked his little brother.

It had been several years since Theodore had set foot in Mystic Falls. After his second break up with Liam he found it difficult to stay in such close proximity to someone he loved completely but couldn’t be with him because it was a distraction for Liam. Still he kept in touch with family. He hadn’t intended on coming home…especially unannounced but when he reached the house, he unlocked the door and stepped inside dropping his bag on the floor and sighed. Leaving the front door open he looked around the house. 

Kory had Ryder and the little boy was playing with his toys on the floor and the puppy, or well looking at his playmat.  Kory was grabbing the baby a bottle when he passed by his brother. “Would you shut the door man? Or do you want to let mom’s heat out. Plus I got a baby I don’t want to freeze to death.” Kory wasn’t phased by his brother showing up. “By the way the littlest man is in the living room, welcome home bro.”

“I think telling you how adorable I thought you were was helpful too,” she joked, grinning up at her brother. “I would never leave you. Not ever. I may not be around twenty-four seven like I was when I was single and lonely, but I am always going to be here for you. Whenever you or Lizzie or the baby need me, I am there. Got it?” she said, hoping he understood that. “Good. I’d have to try and beat you up if you didn’t love me and we both know that would be awful.”

“Uh because I was adorable, come on don’t fool yourself sis, you loved your baby brother.” Even if he never saw himself as such he did like teasing her. “Lord lets not make it 24/7 I’d like some alone time with my girl thank you very much with the baby of course.” He understood and kissed her head as he let her go and then shook his head. “You beating me up is like a flower falling over, and your the flower.” He said sticking his tongue out at his sister.

Lizzie blushed slightly, Kory had always had that effect on her. “You look pretty handsome yourself.” She complimented looking up at him. She was more than ready to spend some one on one time with him again and get a night out. She loved Ryder of course, but she could use a night away. She looked at the skates as she followed him out.

Kory slid his hand into Lizzie’s as they walked and swung their hands lightly. “Well you know it’s easy to clean up once your not covered in baby spit.” He teased as he looked down at her. “I mean I would have worn my uniform but I didn’t know if you’d want to be arrested.” He winked obviously teasing as they got to the pond and he found a bench to put his skates on. “I hoped skating was alright for a date? I just wanted to get out of the house and figured you’d want too as well.”

“Don’t lie. You have loved me since I won you over when moms brought you home,” she pointed out with a sweet smile in his direction. “Exactly. Which is why I held off on it,” she admitted, resting her head against his chest as she hugged him. “You say hate, but I know you really mean love. And don’t you dare say that! You have tons of worth. You are worth so much to me and Lizzie and Ryder and the rest of the family. I love you always, you big idiot.”

“You and those damn sour patch kids. I was an impressionable child.” He teased but he did love his sister that wouldn’t change. “Yeah, yeah I may love you. But you’re going to leave me now that you got some fancy new boy toy and I got Lizzie. I can just see it now.” Kory told his sister as he heard how much worth he had he nodded. “Yeah I know, and I love you too you big nerd.” He teased back playfully.

“No, just have my foot glued to my mouth,” And usually her fists in more than a couple faces.  She wasn’t sure if that needed to be said.  "It’s easier said than done, Kory.“  Being a hybrid was touch and she wasn’t sure her wolf side was the only reason for her temper.  It wasn’t like she had an easy life before she was adopted.  It left a mark.  "Maybe I’ll apply.  See what it’s like,” Then she laughed.  "Yeah, if I didn’t use magic.“

“Oh come on Effy, don’t bullshit me. Do you see me going around punching things or losing my shit because I’m a wolf? Or sucking people dry because I’m pissed off. Bullshit everyone else, but not me we’ve been through too much for that bullshit. You’ve got people that care about you now, time to let the past go.” Kory knew it was easier said than done, but honestly they had been here long enough, and he knew the Rosa’s they weren’t bad dads.

“You always love me,” she pointed out with a grin. “Well, I didn’t interfere as much as I could have. We both know I could have done way more. But I’m glad I made you think more. I’ll add that to another point of me always being right,” she said, reaching up to hug him. “He truly has. And I’m glad you have him. He’s made you realize you are worth loving.”

“Always? I don’t know about that.” He countered, there were sometimes he was beyond annoyed with his sister. “Yes and we both know I would have dug my heels in more and resisted.” He countered as he sighed and hugged her back. “Yup see that’s why I hate you.” She always had to be right, the annoying older sister trait. “Yeah I don’t know how much worth I have in being loved but he loves me for now and that’s enough for me.”

Lizzie had spent an embarrassingly long time picking out what to wear and getting ready. She hadn’t been on a date in forever and the fact that it was Kory made it even more important to her. She knew he had told her many times he didn’t mind how she looked, but she wanted to look nice for him. She smirked at him. “Definitely ready.” 

Kory’s brows rose as he saw her. “You look amazing you know that?” He told her as he walked over and kissed her cheek. “Come on lets go.” He grabbed the skates by the door, as he intended to take her ice skating tonight, something a little different for a first date. There was a lake that had frozen over, he had tested the ice to make sure it was safe earlier and well he knew they could skate on it.

Part of Kory was wondering what the hell he was doing. Taking Lizzie out on a date, he dropped their son off with his moms he was shooed off to go enjoy his night. Kory walked downstairs and saw Lizzie. “So uh, you ready to go on out?” He questioned and then cursed inwardly, why was he so fucking nervous? The last thing he wanted was to start another fight between them because he didn’t want to lose her.

“This is great! This is like my birthday and Christmas combined!” she squealed, jumping up and down in her excitement. “I can’t help it! I have wanted you two to admit how you felt for ages. Do you know how hard it was for me to not interfere?” she pointed out to him. “Well, having the baby really made you grow up. You’re become happier and more open about things, which I am happy about for you.”

“I both love you and hate you sometimes sister.” He told her but his tone was light, as he then gave her a look. “You did interfere. If it wasn’t for you and our last conversation how Lizzie saw both sides of me and loved both of them. I would have never gone back on what I felt.” On how he focused on wanting to be a man only not the vampire he was or the hybrid but just his name. “Yeah well, the little guy has worked wonders on me.” Kory told his sister.

Lizzie nodded. She listened to him continue to speak as she headed for her room, but stopped and turned back to him when he asked. “Kory, are you asking me on a date?” Aside from his ex, Lizzie hadn’t known Kory to be the type to ask on dates. Her tone was teasing, but a smile was on her lips. “I couldn’t think of a better way to spend Valentine’s Day.” She answered honestly before going to pack a few things in a bag. 

Kory rolled his eyes when she questioned him. “No I am asking you to marry me. Yes I am pretty sure I used the words lets go out on a date.” He told her, as he shook his head. Women they were like his sister, always had to get a rise out of him because he wasn’t one of those over emotional guys. “Good, because I wasn’t taking no for an answer.” Kory got Ryders things packed up and then saw his son was awake making him smile. “Hi buddy, did you have a good nap?” He asked lifting the boy out of his crib as he gave him a little kiss. “Were gonna go see Rex, and mama’s coming too.” He told his son as if the boy could understand him.

“You did?” Diana asked, barely able to contain her excitement as her face lit up. “Oh Kory! I’m so happy for you! I have been waiting and waiting for you to finally admit it and do something because I just thought you two were perfect together and I was dying that you didn’t get together with her earlier!” she said, speaking quickly and excitedly, which was usual for her when she was like this. “I always want to spend some time with my favorite boys.”

“I did, and were going on a date.” He said with a shrug as he rolled his eyes. “Alright cheerleader calm down, fine yes you can see all of my feelings before me.” He said laughing softly. “I think we both had to change as people the guy that she first met is not the guy I am now.” He was excited to explore what could be with Lizzie though. “Don’t tell Shawn that he’ll get jealous.” Kory teased his sister.

She smile at hearing it had always been her. It was hard to have faith before with her thoughts and him being with someone else. She tightened her own grip on him, almost afraid to let him go. Her lips broke from his for a moment. “Should we get ready to head to your place?”

“Yeah, why don’t you go pack your bag and I’ll go grab some stuff for the little man myself.” Kory told Lizzie as he then looked over at her. “So my moms offered to watch Ryder on Valentines day if you want to go out on a date maybe?” Kory asked her figuring they could get around to that first date if she wanted.

  “How can I help you?” the blonde asked when she saw a costumer in her flower shop. “Or do you just want to look around a little first? We have got some fresh roses today in some pretty colors.”

Kory glanced over at the girl and just shrugged. “Was thinking I would just look around, I usually leave the flower picking to my sister.” But Kory wanted to do something nice for Lizzie for valentines day coming up, so he was just looking at the flowers for now.

“Not a lot of people like to hire someone with references that would say better off calling the cops,” She didn’t hide the fact that her wolf temper had affected her career more than it should.  She gave into that part of her more than her witch side because of her level of power with magic.  It was too powerful to control sometimes.  It was easier to give into the wolf than deal with that.  “At the police station?  Come on, Kory, be serious.  I’m never getting a job there,” She wasn’t sure they would consider someone with an arrest record.

“Are you stealing or something? If so tell em to call the cops, I’ll take the call and plug you.” He offered to her as he shook his head. “You gotta control that temper Effy, I can’t keep telling you that until were old and gray.” He got it they were both hybrids in their own way it just was tricky. “Why not, Kai loves corrupt people, and I have a say in the hiring of personnel and I’ll keep your ass in line. I could still kick your ass.”
