Now that art fight is over, I'm going to post my latest li'l guy here!

I had seen inklings of other people making their own Redwall OCs, and upon searching here and in art fight, I WAS RIGHT. THEY DO EXIST!

So of course I had to make one of my own!

So here's Fitz!

He's a small chubby dormouse, and was supposed to be an apprentice Recorder (with hopes of becoming the official one). However, he was found nodding off and doodling way too much in the margins and kinda got fired, so he's trying to figure out what he wants to do.

When he was slightly younger, he took a dare and climbed a bit too high on a dormitory tower, got attacked by birds, got scratched and fell. While he survived, he now has a great dislike for heights and birds.

I imagined him as a more sidekick/rogue type character, as I imagine him realizing he's deft with his paws and can fiddle and dismantle things. Not a warrior, but definitely good moral support for one!

some quick Redwall fanart! I always had a soft spot for Veil. I never completely bought into the idea that all vermin were born evil in the Redwall universe, so Outcast of Redwall was one of my favorite books as a kid.

Hi my name is Ublaz Mad Eyes and I have hypnotic eyes (that’s how I got my name) that are jet black and almond-shaped and I have a deadly pet coral snake (AN: if u don’t know what that is get da hell out of here!). I don’t have the Tears of All Oceans but I wish I did because I’d be a major fucking hottie. I’m a pine marten and my teeth are straight and white. I have fine brown fur. I’m also an Emperor, and I live on the isle of Sampetra where I’m the Emperor (I’m the Emperor). I’m royalty (in case you couldn’t tell) and I wear mostly robes. I love Holt Lutra and I steal all my clothes from there. For example, today I was wearing a green silk robe with a gold border. I was wearing a shark skin belt with a silver dagger with blue sapphires thrust into it. I was walking around Sampetra. It was warm and sunny so there was no rain, which I was very happy about. A lot of corsairs stared at me. I put up my middle finger at them.

Kudos to fanfiction writers for writing about all the trauma and emotional and mental turmoil that the original content creators dont acknowledge when putting characters through hell

This has evolved to one of fanfiction’s major assets in my eyes. To every author that cares enough about the characters in their stories to examine trauma, but also the slow, tedious processes of healing and recovery: your stories mean so much to me and other persons with mental health problems. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Okay, so @dibbunsagainstbedtime

gonna finally type up some thoughts about minor characters I love. I need to reread the books again (always) because I’ve been in a Mossflower headspace for so long I’m forgetting everybody else but 

Ashleg deserves some love. I want to know more about him and how he wound up serving Verdauga hell, I want to know more about Verdauga but that is a whole other essay. I mean, Ashleg was great, and I want to know how he got where he was, and where he went after he left Kotir. Not many “villains” get away, and Ashleg did. How did he lose his leg? Was he born with birth defects, or was there some terrible accident? I just–he seemed one of the few sane creatures left under Tsarmina, and damn but I’d love to see his character explored more.
