I'm trying to curate my tumblr experience so I have far less mental breakdowns, so if something has vanished from my blog that doesn't mean I no longer support the message - it just means it tanked my mental health and I had to do something to keep myself from getting worse. I just need a space that doesn't make me anxious to even think about, not that I should even have to explain myself.

Edit for the one asshole I had to delete from my inbox, let me clarify one thing: I am poor, unmedicated, and have severe anxiety. Every time I see a post that flares my anxiety beyond a certain point, I have really nasty mental downspirals. So no, I will not be putting up anything on my blog if it pushes me to that point just seeing or reading it.

If I wouldn't subject myself to it, I won't subject my followers to it. End of.

With the sudden bot plague, I am currently even more vigilant when it comes to what might be a bot. I just blocked three certain pornbots and 5 blank blogs.

If your blog is blank, with the default header and icon, I am blocking, no hesitation. Maybe you're not a bot, but right now, I'm not taking that risk.

So, if you're not a bot, get rid of the default icon and header, and reblog something. Anything. Reblog this, if I missed you in the purge. Find a cat picture, they're all over this site. Something.

Because the bots will be malicious, and they will be posting malware links eventually, and I don't want to deal with that.

Not people saying “Fandom has always been like this” in that vent post I made. No. It hasn’t always been like this. Fandom has NEVER been like this until recently and if you were in fandom pre-tumblr purge, pre-twitter, pre-netflix boom, pre-tiktok….then you would fucking know it was nothing like this.

We still had the drive to create. We still sold prints and charms and made zines…but it was never like this.

The introduction of streaming, binge shows that drop all at once, tiktok and vine RIP i still love u vine but you were the beginning of a particularly ugly era) creating this bite sized, quick paced ‘content’ era of creation and it bled out into fucking everything else.

Fandoms didn’t die down when the show ended or the season was over. You didn’t mass unfollow artist, writers or moots just because they changed fandoms. There wasn’t this need to please the algorithm in order for your posts to get seen by people and enjoyed.

Fandoms used to last YEARS. Star Trek is literally the oldest running fandom out there and you got people in there that could care less about the new stuff and still have been happily prancing through their fucking fifty year old fandom today. Hell, even SPN after all it’s fuckups and shitshows has a dedicated fanbase STILL creating tons of art and fic.

There is no patience anymore. No calm feeling of taking in fandom and friends at a pace that which doesn’t make you stressed and is still fun.

Do I blame fandom for this? Of course not, but people are complacent with it and start changing their vocab to accommodate and end up making the situation so deep it cant be fixed.

We call Art & Fic Content now, completely stripping the value of what it is to a level of consumerism instead of personal entertainment & community bonding.

Okay reblog if you’re an artist who STRONGLY PREFERS reblogs with commentary

People are apparently under the impression that reblogging someone’s art and adding a comment is frowned upon and that can’t possibly be true, every artist I know of sees a reblog-comment as like the ultimate definitive reward for their hard work.

Obviously don’t feel bad for NOT adding a comment if you’re shy or just don’t know what to say, but if there’s something you would like to say about a drawing you’ve liked enough to reblog, I’m pretty sure most artists crave hearing it.

I once read someone’s post saying “NEVER ADD A COMMENT WHEN YOU REBLOG SOMEONE’S WORK CAUSE YOU’RE TAKING ATTENTION AWAY FROM THEM” and it’s what prevented me from doing so for a time, until I became a creator of stuff myself and I can say that’s absolutely untrue. For one, I’m not a five year old who needs all the attention to be on me all the time. For another, the fact that someone would take the time to sit down and put real effort into writing something, whether as a comment or in the tags, means so much to me and is the most inspiring. Finally, you have a voice too, and you have as much right to speak it as I do :)
