"Miss, I’m afraid I’m going to have to ask you to leave.”
Well, this was embarrassing.
The library’s security guard stood towering over Kou as she quietly pack her things. Her face was as red as her hair when, from the corner of her eye, she noticed several onlookers staring in her direction. She wasn’t a troublemaker, honestly, and she always followed the rules--especially the library’s golden rule. It’s just she wasn’t expecting a spider to fall out of no where and right in the middle of her open book.
Naturally she screamed. How else could you react to something like that?
Still, her reaction came with repercussions and now she had to leave. The old woman who mandated the front desk, having barely said a word to Kou when she first arrived, was now sneering as she was being escorted from the library.
When Kou and security guard stepped outside, a fresh, cool fall breeze was well welcomed for her overheating body. She couldn’t wait until she was far away from this place. However, it only meant that there was no other place (that she could think of, at least) where she would be able to read in silence.
Her apartment was deafening; the lack of anybody there but herself had prompted her to leave for the library in the first place. If she were to find a place outside to sit, however, Kou was sure she’d be distracted by whatever was going on around her. So...now what?
Anger and frustration swelled within her because of her predicament. Stupid spider, stupid fear, stupid old lady who had absolutely nothing to do with this!
