Detective Conan ShortFic 1:

Don't Mess with the Kudo's!

5 days after the Tropical Land Incidents

Somewhere in Japan

"Umm, Aniki? Do you know why did That Person called for all the Codenamed members to meet now of all times? We just finished that deal and the check for the trouble that was cleaned up is going well isn't it?" Asked the man that perpetually wore sunglasses.

"Hmph. Probably someone messed up and a big cleanup needs to be done or a big mission is in the works. Either way, sounds like fun." Gin replied with a malicious grin.

Just then, an old man with one eye and a couple of body guards walked in.

"Oy... Aniki... is that..." Vodka nervously asked.

"Rum..." Gin growled. "Looks like this might be bigger than I expected if the geezer actually showed himself."

Then, after reaching the front of the room, Rum had started speaking. Initially sounding calm but then gradually screaming his lungs out. "We were called here for a reason... and that reason is simple. All Codenamed operatives where given very specific and very detailed instructions and warnings! Amongst those was a list for people and locations that you DO NOT APPROACH! On that LIST!!!" Rum spat out while tossing a pile of papers with names and pictures. "The Suzuki's, the Ooka's, and worst of all, THE KUDO family and ANYONE connected to them!!!" He screamed then slammed his hand on the desk in front of him. "So... WHY IS KUDO YUSAKU ON A WAR PATH AGAINST US WITH SUPPORT FROM THE SUZUKI'S AND VARIOUS COUNTRIES' SECRET AGENCY'S BACKING HIM!!!!"

"Kudo?" Asked a woman with wavy strawberry blond hair and wearing a labcoat. " Oh.. Well, Rum. I think I know who's to blame for that." She said while pointing in Gin and Vodka' direction. "You see, these two thought it was a brilliant idea to not only take samples of APT-4869 when I explicitly said it shouldn't be used, but when they returned, I got report from them saying it was used on one Kudo Shinichi, and upon checking his residence - which showed no signs of the boy returning and thus indicating he has indeed died - he is indeed the son of Kudo Yusaku." She finished while nonchalantly batting away a loose hair.

Then the temperature in that room felt like it dropped drastically as Vodka paled and Gin stood there uncaring despite everyones eyes(eye, rum...) was on the two.

Potential Detective AU/Crossover Ideas:

[WARNING, most of these if not all will feature a Conan that is less upset about being 'Conan' either from the start or soon after, and in general a more wholesome-happy-Conan]

{Free reign to use the ideas if curious, but if so please post on AO3 for ease of searchability. These are basically just story ideas I'd love to see.}

1. Starforce Detective; A Detective Conan, Megaman Network Transmission, and Megaman Starforce Crossover where Geo Stelar and OmegaXis ends up in Beika after encountering what OmegaXis dubbed an EM Portal soon after investigating a signal that felt like both a navi and an EM-Being. After arriving they encounter Edogawa Conan who seems to have bonded with the source of the signal, an evolved ancient navi-turned EM-Being that goes by the name of ZeroDelta or as Conan refers to him, Zd(pronounced Zed). These four work together to solve a strange new Digital Virus phenomenon that is plaguing Conan's world while going through they daily lives an strange to wild encounters.

Takes place after MMSF2 and Mid-RUM Arc for Detective Conan after all three RUM suspects are revealed.

Key points:

A. ZeroDelta meets Conan a few weeks prior to Geo and OmegaXis. The latter two first stumble upon the 'traces' of ZeroDelta and then later the EM-Portal after checking out a bunch of old server systems - which later was discovered to have reactivated following the events of Starforce 1 - that was found by Aaron Boreal and Tom Dubious one month prior.

B. ZeroDelta first meets - and kinda crashes into - Conan while the later is on the roof top of the Professors house, testing a new set of glasses with upgraded frequency detection as well as a prototype phone like device with super high speeds and storage that are both made by Professor Agasa. The encounter causing the glasses to be able to show the EM-world and ZeroDelta residing in the Prototype Phone-Like device when resting or hiding.

C. After the intial confusion is over and Zd(ZeroDelta) gets introduced to Conan, Agasa, and Haibara. The 4 agree to Zd staying with Conan using the prototype, which Zd compairs to the PETs from his past except with out the battle chip/card features which Agasa adds in later after Zd struggles with a Giant Virus program and describes the Chips/Cards to the professor whilst also providing some sample data as a base.

D. Conan can initially 'Jack-In' Zd, but latter is able to eventually EM-Wave Change with him with the transformed name of RedZero. While transformed, Conan is able to become 'fullsized' when 100% Synchronized with Zd, achieving the form of FullZero as well as much more power.

E. The device gets named the Z-Carrier and later receives various modifications after the group meets with Geo and OmegaXis.

F. The Virus problem starts on the Net but spreads when EM-Viruses from Geo's world start merging and using strains of a new NightBaron Virus to become Boss Viruses.

2. The Beast Kid of Beika

An AU that starts after Kir Arc, but 2 weeks before the intro of Subaru.

Key points:

A. Conan is less stressed about being a 'kid' and gets along really well with animals, to the point that Kogoro agreed to adopt John the dog after the case it was used in, due to Conan growing attached to it. (Conan also gets frequent visits from KID's dove that he saved and visits Eri more often to play with Goro)

B. Conan gets kidnapped and experimented on for a week after being seen surrounded by a crowd of cats near a park and is later secretly found by a mysterious man with pink hair, who after comforting Conan, sends an anonymous tip to the Mouri's and Agasa to rescue the little detective due to the state that Conan is in.

C. When Conan is found in an abandoned warehouse, he is suspended in a large tube of green liquid marked 'Gene Bath: Project Animalia while connected to various tubes for breathing, nutrition, and filtering.

D. Conan gains animal abilities but has a hard time controlling them when stressed, leading to Agasa and Haibara making a custom size changing wristband that stabilizes them so Conan can switch between full, partial, and mixed beast forms as well as enhanced human(stronger senses but no animal features), and full normal states.

E. Later on Conan gets the ability to alter his human form slightly - hair color/length as well as his height and also return to full-sized Shinichi, but only with the wristband on as the apotoxin has yet to be full purged from him.

F. Conan also reveals that he is Shinichi to a small handful of people including Subaru and Ran due to growing closer to them. Subaru being like an older brother and Ran handling the beast powers secret well so him trusting her nore.

G. LOTS of Fluff!!! Plenty of wholesome scenes with CatConan, Subaru, Ran and Haibara... oh and Agasa!!! As well as more when a few others are in the know about BeastKidConan as he is able to keep it well hidden most of the time.

H. Intial group that knows of Conan's full range of abilities: Subaru, Agasa, Haibra, Ran, Kogoro. All due to being the ones that find and help him tame his powers. Police know about the kidnapping(which gets labeled as a misunderstanding and not a proper case later on for a good reason) due to being contacted when Conan disappeared and when he was found but only Megure, Takagi, and Sato know about the experimenting due to Conan having cat ears and a tail as a default when freed from the tube just as they arrived. The whole case is kept secret to protect Conan. The ones that learn later are TBD but at least Eri, and also Sera Masumi finds out after noticing some strange things and investigating.

3. The White Steel of Belltree

An AU that starts 10 years before the start of canon where a 12 year old Curacao gets adopted by Suzuki Jirokichi during his travels - thus avoiding her getting involved with the BO - after she helps him out with some attackers and he realizes she's an orphan. He gives her the name Shirogane Belle to give her a connection to the Suzuki's without getting her involved in inheritance disputes as well as in reference to her strength and silvery hair.

Key points:

A. Belle grows close to the Suzuki's especially Sonoko and Jirokichi, and sooner after Shinichi and Ran (Shinichi may or may not have a crush on Belle while still being best friends but not in love with Ran and Sonoko).

B. Belle and Shinichi both get shrunk but Belle doesn't get properly identified due to wearing a wig and contacts at the time, as well as Gin and Vodka running away before getting the chance since Belle and Shinichi fought back initially and made enough noise to attract some attention. A barely conscious Belle drags herself and Shinichi to a corner out of sight and calls Ran and Sonoko on the phone for help before she and Shinichi start Shrinking.

C. Shinichi is less of an arrogant prick initially and isn't very stressed about being shrunk since he's with Belle(who gets the name of Shirogane Suzu as a "public identity" despite all of the ones close to her knowing the truth.)

D. Wholesome scenes, LOTS!

4. Living with a Cop

Takagi is the first to find Shrunk Shinichi and... he believes him? This is an AU where Takagi takes in Shinichi and the benefits and oddities that result from that.

Key points:

A. Takagi lives with Conan

B. Conan grows closer to the Police, namely Takagi, Sato and Megure.

C. The protagonists are more competent than usual (stares at Kidnapping of Edogawa Conan silliness).

D. Kogoro and Ran are very competent. They figure out Shinichi is Conan after seeing him with Takagi and are able to solve cases that Conan might not be available for.

E. Megure recognizes Conan as Shinichi due to knowing him as a kid and Sato is able to clue together all the weird details.

F. Happy police mascot Conan

G. Big brother Takagi and later big sister Sato.

H. Sato bonds with Haibara after the case in the Stadium where she is originally introduced and later helps to save Haibara during 'Reunion with the Black Organization'.

I. Agasa and all the usual folk still learn about Conan and assist as usual.

J. Conan and Haibara play matchmaker for Sato and Takagi.

K. Those that know about 'Conan', know about the BO and share info with each other... eventually(some folks are a bit stubborn). Said info is gotten from private investigations that mostly avoid using 'Police Resources' so as to not attract attention. The investigation and info is kept of the records does not have official police involvement despite including Takagi, Sato, and Megure.

5. A Sense for Danger

Shinichi gets the ability to sense BO members after becoming Conan and takes advantage of it.

Key points:

A. First time Conan notices the BO Sense is while walking to school and thinks it was just a particularly dangerous potential crook that he noticed due to the murderous air the person also had. He later realizes that person was an unnamed BO operative due to the sense not triggering for regular criminals after the train case.

B. He confirms the ability when he senses Gin and Vodka on the train before even seeing or hearing them, and notices that those two's 'scent' is similar to but much stronger than that of the random operative Conan passed by once.

C. Thanks to the ability Conan identifies Akemi due to her having the 'scent' but it being extremely weak. Thanks to that he is able to help save her and fake her death.

D. Conan learns to identify specific BO 'scents' after encountering them for the for time.

E. After the 'Kidnapping of Edogawa Conan' case, he takes lead in the BO case but agrees to Yusaku's help and sends him a list of any BO operatives he detects and secretly takes pictures of with a custom hidden camera Agasa adds/builds for him.

F. Conan developes a separate KID sense much sooner and instantly identifies him after the Black Star heist when randomly walking past him on the street.

G. Conan befriends Aoko and Kaito

H. The Organization that Kaito is hunting is an old BO rouge division and Conan helps to track down and arrest them with assistance from the FBI and INTERPOL thanks to assistance from Yusaku after learning of it's involvement in Toichi's disappearance/death.

I. Kaito and Shinichi learn they are cousins.

J. Conan learns how to willingly ignore/detect friendly 'BO scents' that he knows are nearby.

K. The 'scents' don't put pressure on Conan like it does for Haibara, just increases awareness.

L. Conan doesn't have a 'BO scent' he just has the ability sense to BO and KID... oh and his usual awareness is stronger so he learns to calm that down when it's not needed.

6. The Happy Shrunken Detective.

A Detective Conan AU where Shinichi was always very emotionally perceptive and expressive but ended up subconsciously locking most of that side of him away after an incident when he was 3(not the Kudo's fault). After becoming Conan, he regains that part of himself as well as certain memories of his family.

Key points:

A. Conan is more expressive and less secretive as he is able to read people better and has an easier time knowing who to trust.

B. Shinichi and Ran became a couple a bit before Tropical Land.

C. Ran and a few others know the truth behind Conan.

D. Ran treats Conan like a kid in public - except during cases where he's treated more like a little genius and helps him publicly solve the cases without needing nemuri no kogoro - but also pampers and shows him plenty of wholesome affection and... Conan doesn't mind since he's less emotionally pent up and more receptive to kindness. Ran also considers Conan/Shinichi mostly the same person but gives extra cuddles to 'Conan' due to being adorable and saves the Romance for full-sized Shinichi in public.

E. The wholesome moments is strong with this one and the Protect Conan Squad is in full force!

7. Red Fairy and Blue Dragon

Detective Conan/Magic Kaito Secret Magic AU where Akako is the one to find Shinichi when he shrinks after sensing a large concentration of magical energy while roaming Tropical Land alone.

Key points:

A. Magic and Magical Creatures are real but extremely rare. Most blend in to society well enough by hiding their powers and traits.

B. Akako is a lonely fairy - instead a witch with all that weird stuff - and barely has any magic despite being very talented.

C. Shinichi has dragon blood but was unaware of it until after shrinking when it awoke. Despite being shrunk, he has too high of a magical energy concentration which starts to overwhelm him.

D. Akako and Shinichi have a symbiotic relationship - which grows into a wholesome romantic one - for her to take the excess magic from him so that she has access to a larger pool of energy and so that he is able to relax.

E. The two live in the Kudo Manor with the Mouri's as 'legal guardians' and use a complex illusion spell by Akako with Shinichi's excess energy to fool intruders - BO - into thinking it's always been empty. They do stay with the Mouri's though for the first week so that Akako can prepare the spell. Due to that, Haibara notices the missing clothing detail like usual.

F. Akako casts an illusion to make her self look smaller so that she can stay near Shinichi/Conan - in case he has energy surges - and calls herself Natsume. Both attend Teitan Elementary.

G. Major Canon story points included, but with some magical mischief from the dual protagonists.

H. Ran, Kogoro, and Agasa learn the truth same day of the incident and assist with access to cases and gadgets.

I. Akako teaches Shinichi how to get a Psudo-Full Size form but both agree to it needing to be used sparingly to stay hidden from the BO.

J. Akako and Shinichi have fun playing/messing with KID without ruining the heists. Tricks are solved like usual but mischief ensues along the way or after. KID is having fun as well after getting scared witless by 'Conan and Natsume' tag teaming him on the ship with a combo of magic and gadgets. (Power Shoes + near endless munition of magic soccer balls = KID in danger)

K. Plenty of wholesome side stories and some Magic/Artifacts based Original 'Cases'. Ex, searching through ruins that house ancient spell books that Akako and Shinichi are curious about.

L. Akako and Shinichi team up with KID when they notice Snakes goons after a heist and learn about Kaito's situation regarding them and his past. Shinichi learns soon after that Kaito is his cousin. The heists continue as a way for the three to have fun and to hunt down and destroy the Pandora gem even after taking down Snakes organization. KID gets an official pardon and later heists get treated as shows thanks to Yusaku using his connections and having any damages caused covered with the abundance of non magical treasures Akako and Shinichi find on some adventures (some of them being with Kaito).

M. Akemi and Seji get saved.

N. Desperate revival still happens though as Akako is with Agasa and Haibara during the Cave Incident and Conan is unstable due to an energy surge. By this point, Ran starts to cheer Shinichi and Akako on as a potential couple due to the two growing closer and almost always hanging around each other.

8. Little Courage (baby sister AU)

One week after Shinichi had turned 10 years old, his mother Yukiko had given birth to his new sibling. An adorable little sister by the name of Koyuki (小勇気). Shinichi grows very close to his new sister who ends up inseparable from him to the point that Koyuki refuses to go traveling with the Kudo Parents and stays with him while occasionally living with Agasa or the Mouri's when Shinichi is busy.

Key points:

A. Koyuki looks like Yukiko and has a similar very loving personality, but has her moments of seriousness when she needs to be similarto Yusaku. She's very smart but still very relaxed and is very attached to/fond of Shinichi, her parents, Agasa, Ran, and Kogoro and Eri in that order.

B. Koyuki has excellent memory just like her dad and brother. Is extremely good at recognition and pointing out tiny details.

C. Shinichi sometimes takes her with him to investigate nonviolent cases as a "bonding activity". Due to this, he's spends more time assisting other divisions of the police and isn't as focused on just murders anymore(though he does help Division 1 when he's alone so Koyuki doesn't get scarred).

D. Thanks to Koyuki, Shinichi is already familiar with the Shounen Tantei Dan as she is the defacto leader of them.

E. Potential love interest between Mitsuhiko and Koyuki(?).

F. Koyuki has a gift for being able to read people really well even when the are putting up a facde/pokerface. Due to this, she ends up growing close to Kogoro due to realizing that he isn't a bad person and is very caring twoards his family and close associates. This also helps her instantly identify Conan as Shinichi when Agasa doubt him.

G. Shinichi softens up and becomes more gentle and caring due to his bond with his baby sister. This leads to him telling Ran the truth from the start as he doesn't want to hurt the ones he cares about.

H. Koyuki loves plants and while she enjoys playing Detective due to Shinichi (mostly safe cases at least until 'Conan' happens), her main specialty is studying and working with plants. She especially loves the little garden that Shinichi and Ran set up for her at the Kudo Manor on her 3rd birthday after noticing Koyuki's fascination with plants. Said Garden got expanded each year as an extra gift.

I. Koyuki sees past Akemi's lies and helps Conan save her.

J. Koyuki grows very close to Haibara and treats her like a sister(like Ran). Haibara joins the must protect precious child squad(founded by Shinichi and currently run by Conan) to keep Koyuki out of harms way.

9. Official Vigilanties

30 years before the events of Detective Conan, various politicians around the planet had secretly decided to set up 2 new systems for the sake of peace. The OTG or Official Thieves Guild and the YDA or Young Detectives Association. These two groups recruit, train, and officially license young talents with their respective skills sets to assist in cases where standard law officials will have a hard time acting or require assistance.

Key points:

A. Kudo Yusaku and Kuroba Toichi lead the first class/generation of Official Government Detectives/Thieves along side their respective spouses to deal with extra legal threats under the guise of their regular/secret jobs.

B. After encountering the case of Kurasuma Renya and his organization, Yusaku and Toichi decide to take measures to counter him. Said measures being Yusaku secretly contacting trusted associates like Hattori Heizo in order to train the next generation of potential Detectives to have strong morals and not fall prey to the Organization as well as Toichi eventually faking his death and passing on his mantle while also secretly investigating the two groups to make sure theirs no traitors.

C. Those that join the groups assist in dealing with rouge thieves and detectives without certification. To join, the groups scout out those with potential and for any young detectives, they must have at least one Police Guaranteer/Partner to show that they are trusted. There is a similar system for the OTG but more undercover. Any high level Thieves are classified as Official Phantom Thieves and are assigned Secret Police partners to target, recover, and returns stolen property amoung other things under the guise of the Thief committing a heist and the assigned officer 'chasing them down'.

10. Conan's Quests: A Tale of Aura's and Places of Calm

Takes place initially after the Air Walk KID heist with chapters following Conan's perspective of trying to understand the phenomenon of why the intensity and type of crimes seem to differ around certain folks. Then later his hunt for a certain person for sole reason of testing his theory and possibly having a new place to relax away from cases.

11. Digital Detective

(Digimon X Detective Conan Crossover)

Takes place at the start of the Bourbon Arc

Intro:

Conan finds a strange colored giant egg the size off a soccer ball one day on his way home from school. Upon picking it up he feels an odd connection to it and the egg starts to glow faintly and emit a slight warmth. Considering the strangeness of said eggs' size,coloring, and the fact that it started glowing, Conan brings it to Agasa's place to see if the scientist might know what it is. When he arrives and shows Agasa Hakase and Haibara the odd egg, the professor tries to pick up the egg only for it to bounce away and hide behind Conan. Upon seeing such reaction, everyone there is stunned, especially after the egg bounces back into Conan's arms and then gives off a warm glow as if pleased.

Key Points:

A. Conan initially tries to leave the Strange Egg at the Professors place but it keeps following him around so he hesitantly brings it to the Mouri Detective Agency in a large backpack after failing to keep it confined in the lab as it ended up busting down the door.

B. Haibara is reminded of some strange rumors she heard a long while ago from some BO operatives about strange creatures and how they were not to be underestimated. Despite this, Conan gets an odd feeling the the egg/creature is not only not hostile but that it also seems to have bonded to him.

Chapter 3: Reintroductions with the East and The Dragon's encounter with the West

Back to present time

Once Shinichi had finished recalling what happened the day Raika and her dad visited him, he turned to Ran's direction with a familiar yet good natured mischievous grin. "So, Ran. Have you heard anything yet on your side?"

"Huh? What are you talking about Shinichi-kun? What does the offer have to do with Ran?" Sonoko asked with a genuine look of confusion at what seemed to be an odd segway.

The young detective in training turned back to her with a look of apology. "Ah, sorry about that. I meant more so her dad. You see, that day, Raika's dad had actually given a few hints as to who the new Detective Mentor would be. At the time I had an idea who it was soon after dropping everyone off at their places as Akechi no Ojisan is specifically looking for someone that would also fill a position for his Martial Arts Studio. As for how, if you keep in mind the desired profession as well as the list - which had a few martial arts highlighted and one in particular with an asterisk - that was shown then consider the detectives that would be easy for a middle schooler to consistently meet with and assist, the list boils down quickly. Although the list itself ended up being a bigger clue due to my personally knowing a detective that fit the bill perfectly and the extent of their skills - amoung other things, after spending lots of time at their place - especially in a certain Martial Art, namely Judo which was marked on the list. Now, who do you know that is a local Detective and can be called a Judo Master?"

"Ah! Ran's Dad!" Sonoko exclaims after realizing.

"Yup, as for Ran being the one I asked about this. That was more so my wondering if she heard anything from her dad regarding it since Akechi no Ojisan sounded like he was going to visit him that same day. So, heard anything yet Ran?" Shinichi asked.

"Un. Otou-san told me that come home right after school for something important and he looked very serious as well." Ran replied.

"Great! Let's test the theory then. I was gonna give my response to Akechi no Ojisan anyway so I may as well drop by your place first after school as it's across the street from your home Ran. Afterwards, if Mouri no Ojisan is indeed about to head to the Akechi Agency, than we can all go there together." Shinichi then turns towards Sonoko. "Will you be coming along as well? We can hangout afterwards if we have time at a nearby park." "Sure, no problem as my family didn't mention any plans for today." The young heiress replied with a smile.

After-school

At the Mouri Detective Agency

"Dad! I'm home. Also, Shinichi and Sonoko are here with me." Ran yelled out as the three entered the apartment on the third floor of the building.

Side Story 1: The Detectives Family

[Takes place a few months after Chapter 2]

[Spoilers for Chapter 2 ending as it is still WIP]

Kudo Manor

While the young 13 year old Kudo Shinichi was of playing with his new friend, Kudo Yusaku and Yukiko where discussing something that in another story would have had gone very different if not for Shinichi's early change at 4 which lead to him also being less emotionally pent up and more loving towards his parents.

"Ne, Yu-chan... I've been thinking..."

"Hmm, about what dear?

"Home... Shin-chan's home... OUR home."

"...ah, that's what you mean."

"I just... don't want to separate our family, and from especially our dear sweet Shin-chan as he's clearly attached to Beika. Honestly, even I've grown fond of it, especially as of recent. Living in the states isn't worth hurting Shin-chan at all, and we've made so many wonderful memories here that I can't bare to act like they aren't that big of a deal."

"That's not a problem at all dear, I care deeply about you and Shinichi as well and would always prioritize you two's happiness. The effect on work is not really a concern as I can just take advantage of being a freelance writer and if any of the editors or reporters become pesky, I can just turn to the Akechi's as they seem to be experts at dealing with nuisances very clean and legally."

"Oh, right! I wonder if I can get their help with some of the annoying contracts as well. I'd normally turn to Eri-chan for this, but she's finally started reconnecting with Kogoro-chan and being there more for Ran-chan after he started working with the Akechi's and began to turn his life around for the better."

"Mm, but that aside. Will you be okay with this Yukiko? You do get a bit antsy when stuck in one place for too long, although that seems to have been getting better recently. Your more calm nowadays."

"Oh, that, well seeing Shin-chan get another close friend just makes me happy, especially one so adorable! As for the other thing, I thought about that as well and had a brilliant idea! Beika will always be our home, but if any of us are in the mood for traveling, we can plan a trip together! Hopefully the only times we'll be separated is for short business trips that take no longer than a day or 2."

Chapter 2: New Friendships and Fresh Starts.

Morning

A few days after the Shopping District Incident

Teitan Middle School

Whispers are a bound in the halls and classes of the school today as talk is going round of the new shopping district as well as the transfer student that was spotted.

"Hey, did you guys hear about what happened at the new district?" Asked a random student.

"Totally! I heard from someone that says they saw the aftermath with their own eyes! A big scary group was surrounding some girl and a boy around her age was with her before he turned pale and ran off!" Answered another.

"I myself heard that the girl herself scared the boy off, and that she was some kinda strange foreigner." Added on a third.

Just then a certain girl with brown hair and yellow hairband walked in the class alongside another girl, but this one having long brown hair and also with a tuff of hair that resembles a horn. "So annoying! Will you guys stop yapping about this!? Especially since it's clear none of you saw it yourselves!" The first girl screamed in disapproval of the rumors.

"What's it to you Suzuki? It's not like you where there either." Then the sound of a sudden loud stomp reverberated through out the classroom, accompanied by a gentle voice with a dangerous undertone from the second girl. "You guys wouldn't mind being a bit more quiet, would you?" Just as she said that, a certain detective in training walked in to the classroom. Giving a quick glare to the rumor mongers - thus being the final strike and silencing the rumor mill - before turning to his friends.

"Sonoko, Ran... Thanks." The detective in training says with a small tired smile.

"No problem! No problem! I'm still ashamed to have been like that in the past myself..." Answered the young heiress.

"Your not like that Sonko. You and Ran have always been really kind and caring friends and it was further reinforced and made extra clear a few days ago when you two were able to instantly make a good impression at my place on those two during that surpise visit that we got while cleaning."

"Oh yah, speaking of which." Sonoko adds on. "I really hope she ends up in our class! Right Ran? All of us being in the same class would be amazing!"

"Yup, that would fantastic if it happens!" Replied the young karate prodigy.

"Well it looks like class will be getting more interesting then." Shinichi intercedes.

""Huh?"" Then he points forward to the front of the classroom - at the teacher that just walked in a few seconds ago - after receiving confused looks from Sonoko and Ran.

Almost immediately after, the teacher spoke up, causing the class to be quiet.

"Everyone! I have an announcement for you all.. Today we have a new transfer student joining our class! Come inside and introduce yourself!" The teacher said, with the last part in the direction of the door, after which the door opens and a blond girl wearing the same school uniform as the rest of the class - but with a long skirt reaching her ankles - walks in and writes her name on the chalk board.

"Hello there! My name is Akechi Raika! It's nice to meet you!

"Now, if you would Raika, please choose a seat and I'll start the lesson after a few minutes so that everyone can get situated." The teacher replied, after which Raika nodded and took a quick glance around the class before walking towards the three faces she recognized with a bright smile on her face. While at the same time, a certain trio of childhood friends wore similar smiles in recognition.

The class then broke into murmurs which was quickly silenced by three well placed glares from the detective in training, young heiress, and young karate prodigy - all aimed at the rest of the class - effectively muting the rumor mill once more before turning to their new but familiar classmate.

"Raika!" ""Raika-chan!"" Called out Shinichi as well as Ran and Sonoko as the girl walked towards them.

"Oh, does this mean you knew she was joining our class?" Sonoko asked Shinichi as Raika had just reached their group.

"Hm? What do you mean Sonoko?" Raika inquired with a hint of curiosity while she sat at the desk near the three with Sonoko to the top left, Ran to the top right, Shinichi bottom right, and now Rachel at the bottom left.

Shinichi himself then responded. "Ah, we where wondering if you would be joining our class, but then I noticed some stuff and pointed towards the teacher just before you where introduced.

"Stuff? OH! A deduction! Can you explain it us? Please! Detective Shinichi!" Raika asked eagerly while nearly jumping out of her seat.

This brought an embarrassed but happy grin to Shinichi as he scratched the back of his head and agreed to do a little deduction show. "Oh, eheh, sure! Alright then, to start. The teacher was just talking to someone outside the classroom, and from the posture of the teacher, she seemed to be getting ready to make an announcement. One that she was likely nervous about - since she was dabbing her forhead with a handkerchief yet the weather is not hot at all and she showed no signs of exhaustion from being in a hurry - as it may or may not be well received by the class. It can't be a holiday or school event as there's none planned for anytime soon, and judging by the fact that the - now known to be Raika - person she was talking to was still there as there hadn't been any footsteps - which would've been easily heard by me, Sonoko and Ran as we are sitting near the doorway - to indicate that said person left, then it's likely that the announcement relates to them. The teachers manner and tone of speech to the person also indicated someone young but not too young, not familial, and not a fellow teacher or school staff." With that in mind it would lead to the conclusion that it would be a student around our age. Likely a transfer student as well as there would be little to no other reason left for a student to be asked to wait outside before having even stepped in the classroom. As a bonus, I had a feeling it was you Raika, due to what your dad said as he was leaving for his errand. Oh yah, this deduction by the way is disregarding the many rumors that where floating around the school, as they are all over the place in accuracy and often lacking in respect."

Once he was done, Shinichi looked at his three friends to find three looks of amazement with Raika especially looking excited as a ting of pink colored her face. "So Cool!"

Then Sonoko added on. "Yup, it's fun listening to Shinichi-kun's deductions. Sometimes even inspiring the idea of wanting to try doing the same one day."

"Mhm, the way Shinichi does the deductions really does feel like it's teaching what to look out for - even if the level and speed of observation is not the same - without the arrogance that detectives are sadly labeled with." Ran, further supplied.

"Yah, just like at the shopping district and your place Shinichi.. oh, OH YAH!" Raika jumped up after remembering the events of a few days ago.

"Shinichi! did you make a decision regarding the offers that you got?" Asked the excitable blond.

"Hm? Oh yah... well." Then Shinichi thinks back to the events of that day with a small smile.

<The day after the Shopping District Incident>

Kudo Manor

After School

Shinichi, Ran, and Sonoko are helping Yukiko with some chores when the sound of something falling catches just about every one off guard as Shinichi places his right hand over his left arm and chest with a grimace.

"Shin-chan! I told you rest up and take it easy! Not to over extended yourself when your injured!" Yukiko goes over to check that her son didn't aggravate the injury, and then started to calm down once it was clear the wound didn't reopen. Then, just as Ran and Sonoko walked over to see what happened, Shinichi looked down sadly. "Sorry, Kaa-san, I just wanted to help out as well." Which lead to Yukiko grabbing Shinichi into a gentle hug. "Ah, Shin-chan, your such a nice boy! Though, you need to be more careful and learn to protect yourself as well, not just others. You don't want those you protect to worry, do you?"

After hearing that, Ran and Sonoko couldn't contain their concern in longer.

"What happened Shinichi? Are you okay?"

"Yah! How did you get hurt? Did something bad happen?"

"Ah.. no, well kinda, but everything is fine now."

"Really now, Shin-chan? Tell them! Tell them what you told me about..." Just as Yukiko was about talk about Shinichi's act of bravery the four of them where interrupted by the sound of the doorbell. "Hmm? Shin-chan, where you expecting anymore guests?"

Shinichi just looked confused and shook his head, but then started to walk to the intercom to see who it was. "No... it should've been just Ran and Sonoko. I wonder who it is... It can't be Agasa Hakase or Tou-san, since they have keys to the house and know about the secret key as well just in case, and from the sounds of it, you and Tou-san weren't expecting guests either." Yukiko, Ran, and Sonoko followed him to see who it is.

On the intercom was what looked to be a tall middle aged man - with short to medium blond hair, sharp pink eyes, wearing a brown suit, and holding two envelopes - and next to him, a girl around Shinichi and his friends' age - that had similar but bright pink eyes, blond hair going down to her mid-back with a sakura petal hair clip near left ear, and a light blue hoodie with a white shirt and white skirt that reached her ankles- that was instead holding on to a small gift box.

"Hello, is this the home of Kudo Shinichi?" The man's voice range though. Shinichi then proceeded to answer the intercom. "Yes... do you need something from... hold on... Raika!? Give me a minute, I'll be right there!" Then, as Shinichi turned around he was met with a mischievous smile from his mom and an even further confused look from Sonoko and Ran. Which Yukiko decided follow up with some light teasing. "Shin-chaan~" After which Shinichi broke into a light blush. "I'll explain later!" Then he proceeded to run the front entrance to let the guests in.

To say that Shinichi was surprised to not only see Raika again so soon, but at his front door as well would be an understatement. Needless to say that the reactions of the three behind him were interesting as well, with Yukiko having a warm smile at the scene while Sonoko and Ran stared at the girl amazement. Making her a bit nervous, before the two friends spoke up at the same time.

""So Pretty!!"" Sonoko and Ran having an identical reaction to the girl. Catching her off guard.

"Ne, Shinichi. You know these two?" Ran asked.

"Yah, introduce us Shinichi-kun!" Sonoko added.

The girl in question being surprised, but happy about the reactions had kick started the introductions her self. "I'm Raika, Akechi Raika, and this is my dad Akechi Tetsu, nice to meet ya'!" All while having a beaming smile on her face.

Said dad had chuckled a bit at his daughter's antics, having been pleased that she's already found two more folks that she's taken a liking to. "Like my daughter just said, I'm Akechi Tetsu. I mainly run a Law and Consultant Agency while assisting with some other businesses. It's nice to meet you."

Seeing as the introductions had begun, Shinichi realized the he should probably introduce him self as well as the ones behind him.

"I'm Kudo Shinichi. Behind me are my childhood friends Suzuki Sonoko and Mouri Ran, as well as my mother Kudo Yukiko." Saying that, while gesturing to each one who nodded and added their own short introductions before finishing.

"Well now!" Yukiko clapped her hands together to get everyones attention as the introductions were now finished. "Shall we head inside now so we can continue this in relaxation? Shin-chan, please lead everyone to the livingroom and everyone get comfortable while I bring some snacks and drinks." She said as she walked off to the kitchen.

...

Once Yukiko returned she quickly gave a few options to the new guests. "Would you two like orange juice, tea, or coffee?"

"Tea please, Yukiko-san."

"Orange juice please, Yukiko Onee-san!"

"O.. Onee-san? Awww!! Aren't you precious? You have a wonderful daughter, Akechi-san!"

Tetsu then had a loving smile on his face as he looked at his daughter. "Indeed, Raika is quiet precious to me and the whole family, which is a very large part of why we came to talk to Shinichi today." He then had a serious yet calm look as he turned back to face the detective-in-training. "From what I've heard from my daughter and the folks at the new shopping district, Shinichi here had not only stood up for the folks there - whom might look frightening to the casual observer - without discrimination or fear and correctly deduced the situation, but he also saved my daughter with a well done soccer ball kick then even reacted quickly and protected her when the crook tried to grab her again. Thus leading to him sadly getting injured in retaliation before the cops caught the crook as he was running away." A frown falling on his face as he stated that.

"Yah! Shinichi was so awesome and smart when he saved me and stood up for the folks and... and.. I'm Sorry!" Raika blurted out. "You end up getting hurt when you saved me... I'm sorry... I really hope you can forgive me for not apologizing sooner and if you don't mind, continue being my first friend?" Raika looked at Shinichi with pleading eyes.

The detective-in-trainging himself grew flustered at the sudden outburst. "Ah, it's not problem at all, I don't mind! I just hope your not traumatized by what happened. Oh, and I'm still okay with being your first friend, though by the sounds of it there's some extra significance in that to you? So is it okay for me to be this 'First Friend' of yours?" He asked with a worried look.

Raika gave a strong nod with a look of determination. "Mm! I want you to be my 'First Friend'! So again, thank you so much Shinichi!" She said with an adorable grin - which had the young holmes blushing and his mother cooing at the sight - then with a look of excitement turned to Ran and Sonoko. "You two seem really nice as well, so I hope we can also be friends!"

"We'd love to be your friend Raika-chan!" Ran responded. "Yup! Same here! We're glad to have you!" Sonoko then added on.

Raika then jumped and hugged Ran and Sonoko. "Thank you, thank you, thank you! Ah, ehheh!" She then moved backed to to her spot with an embarrassed but happy look. Then remembering the small gift box she brought with her, Raika picked it up from the table in front and handed it to Shinichi. "Open it up! This is a very special gift that the Akechi family traditionally only gives to each of our 'First Friends', so keep it safe and hidden!" She added with a slight tease in her tone.

Inside the box was what appeared to be a small round silver pendant with a pair of feathers on the front and the initials 'K.S' on the back, as well as an intricate pattern - which seemed likely to be a unique identifier - along the edge of the pendant. Seeing this, Shinichi nodded with strong affirmation. "Thanks. Yah, I'll definitely keep it safe!" Then wondered about the image before asking about it. "Um, Akechi no Oji-san?

"Mmm, yes?" Tetsu had a feeling what Shinichi was about to ask, but decided to let him continue. "By chance is the Twins feathers on the pendant a symbol of your family? More specifically it seems to be a pair of white owl feathers. It being a pair likely represents closeness and trust and the fact that 'Akechi' can mean Bright and Wisdom which white owls would fit due how they are seen as wise in addition to their bright white of their feathers?" Shinichi asked while remembering one of the bird refrence books he got after reading 'The Hound of the Baskervilles'.

Seeing the little holmes' deductions in person had impressed the blond adult. "Yes, that is correct. Very well done!" Tetsu answered with a smile.

Hearing that and realizing the trust the Akechi's put in him, Shinichi silently reaffirmed his promise to keep the pendant safe with a strong appreciation for the trust he had received.

Seeing as he had the chance, Tetsu continued. "Now, once again thank you for this and for what you did at the shopping district, Shinichi-kun. I feel bad about what happened, but I'm far more grateful that it didn't end up worse than that for you, Raika, or anyone else. Now... while on the topic of your deductions and actions." Then Tetsu put on a serious face for a few seconds before swapping to a gentle smile as he put two envelopes - one red with a gold colored border and one dark blue with a silver colored border, with both having a pair of feathers as an insignia stamped on to them - on the table.

"I'd like to offer a few things myself. Partially as a gift and thank you, and the other part out of concern and admiration." Then he slowly slid the envelopes across the table to Shinichi. "Please open the blue envelope first, as it will likely be the easier topic"

Shinichi then opened the envelope up to find what looked an invitation.

《Dear, Kudo Shinichi

You are invited to join the White Feather Private Martial Arts Studio. If you choose to accept, please show this letter to the staff at the large building with the Twin Feather Insignia at the end of Beika-Cho 7-Chome.》

"A Martial Arts Studio? But, why..." Then a look of understanding appeared on Shinichi's face as he remembered yesterday's incident and Tetsu's earlier words as he turned to his injury. "...oh."

"I'm glad you caught on quickly. Yes, I wanted to offer you this as thanks and as a way to help you protect yourself and those around you. That way you don't have worry those who care about you as much. Now, as for the details" Tetsu then pulls a paper with a list of Martial Arts styles with a few particular ones highlighted and the last one having an asterisk. "The way this studio works is that those invited to join can train with fellow Instructors and students in the variety of styles listed here. You can choose to focus on one particular style that fits you, and then once you've gotten a good mastery of it, learn a bit from one of the other styles both for extra options and to protect yourself from."

"If you don't mind my personal opinion.." He waited for a signal to continue to which Shinichi gave a subtle nod. "For you Shinichi, I'd personally recommend Savate as it sounded like your pretty fast and have strong legs and great coordination. Also, and I mean no offense by this, if you where shorter, I would've recommended Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as it would be useful for dealing with larger threats."

Hearing the genuine concern from Tetsu had reminded Shinichi of his mother's similar words from earlier had him giving it heavy consideration and thought.

A thought then came to Tetsu's mind. "Ah, I should clarify the reason as to why it's private. It's actually for a few reasons. As this studio features many styles and appropriate training equipment. I want to make sure that those that use the facilities are highly vetted so that the knowledge and said equipment isn't abused. With that in mind, while the current building is new, the system I've built around the Martial Arts Studio has long since had the express goal of helping the Akechi Family and those close to us to protect ourselves and those we care for. It's kinda like a big extension of the family. Third part, - layering on the previous reasons - is simpler, I want to make it easier for those of us who are dealing with problems to have a safe space. That is why I make sure to keep the staff, students and even those that manage and guard the building, are strictly 'trusted associates of the Akechi Family'. Oh... and I may or may not have a hobby or collecting Martial Arts styles." he ends with a chuckle.

Tetsu then moved to a more relaxed position. "So, I won't push for a choice right now as I'm sure you probably want to discuss this with your parents, but in the mean time, shall we move onto the next offer, which I think may interest you a bit more." Tetsu adds with a mischievous grin and then jesters to the other envelope, as encouragement.

With that in mind Shinichi opens up the second envelope and his eyes slowly grow wider as he reads more and more of the letter that was inside it.

《Dear Kudo Shinichi

This is a formal invitation to join the Akechi Agency as the personal protégé of one Akechi Tetsu. With this comes many benefits including but not limited to being given the resources to help sharpen and support your detective skills and build a proper career in your free time. This also includes direct lessons, challenges, and advice from Akechi Tetsu that will hopefully help you grow as a detective and a person. In addition, joining the Agency will help to build a closer rapport with its trusted associates and open up access to other benefits later on. To close off, regardless either joining the Agency or not - and even if left for whatever reason - Kudo Shinichi will continue to receive support from the Akechi Family, especially in dire times of need as a friend of the family and perhaps more one day.》

Upon finishing the letter, Shinichi's expression shifted through various emotions - ranging from confusion and suprise, to thoughtfulness and intrigued, then wide eyed and wearing a brilliant shade of pink on his face.

"Ahem, while it feels a bit presumptuous, I had the letters and Raika's gift prepared upon hearing about you and had decided to trust in my daughter's intuition. Even then, seeing your respectful attitude and skills at work myself, I feel it wasn't a mistake to be ready this quickly. Now, to clarify a few things." Tetsu spoke up once it was clear Shinichi was done reading the letter. "First of all, like it was stated near the end of the letter, regardless of whether you choose to accept the offers, the Akechi Family will still consider you a friend and will look out for you if you ever need our help. Second, it might help to clarify that if you do join, you are not under any obligation to do anything that makes you uncomfortable, quite the opposite infact. This is meant to help and work with you, not use you like a tool. Third, and I hope this won't be a problem; I want to work on setting up a sort of... detective mentor for you. I have someone in mind already due to them also being a great candidate for my... hobby... of getting Martial Arts Instructors for my studio. If I can convince this person, then I want you to work as their assistant when you have time and for you two to grow as detectives with support from The Agency.

Shinichi lifted his head from thought after realizing something strange about those last words. "By 'The Agency', do you mean your law office?"

"Hm? Ah, I should've clarified, while I do deal in 'law' and have certification in Criminal Law among other things... I primarily work on referrals and simple consultations nowadays using the past reputation that has been garnered to direct business and folks that ask for help to those I trust would be fit for the job and handle some smaller tasks myself so long as they don't take longer than a day. I do have a few folks with the agency though that I can reach out to if a client needs a good lawyer that can handle 'odd or unwanted' cases. That's actually the reason why I specifically called it a Law and Consultant Agency."

Then Tetsu sent a soft smile to his daughter. "I made promise to myself along time ago to treasure my family and those close to us, so I try to avoid being too busy and to spend time with them more. On occasion I may take on complex jobs, but I usually limit those to cases and otherwise with certain levels of importance or benefit."

"Oh, and don't worry about the money, as between the agency, the new shopping district that I helped invest in for some associates, and many other business ventures in and out of the country, I have garnered more than enough healthy sources of income that I don't have to worry about supporting my family and anyone close." The consultant says as he then turns back to Shinichi to continue. "Keeping that in mind, detective jobs like investigations, research, and many others are decently common so I thought that this would be an excellent chance to send them in a trusted direction. That being you and the other I have in mind if I can get them to agree. I hope that clarifies things well enough for you?"

"Ah, yes, thank you sir! I'll try to respond as soon as I can after discussing this with my parents." Shinichi responded.

Now that the discussion was finished, Tetsu looked to check the time then stood up and got ready to leave with a few last words. "Good to hear! Now, I'm sorry for this but I have to get going now so I can work on the last part as soon as possible. Take your time, and don't worry about rushing to choose. Oh, and if may ask one last favor. This one being to you, Yukiko-san as your currently watching over those three kind children. I'm enrolling Raika in Teitan Middle School, but I'm not sure how they will react to her so would you mind letting Raika play here for a bit? She's quickly gotten new friends and I want her to have some time together with them when she has the chance. We live decently close so distance to get home isn't an issue."

"Oh that isn't a problem at all. Better yet, Teitan is the school Shin-chan and his friends are attending so they may even see each other there often! In any case, I can walk her home with Shin-chan when it gets late so don't worry!" Yukiko reassured with a smile that earned her a surprise hug from Raika. "Thank you, Yukiko Onee-san!" Raika chirped as Yukiko reciprocated the hug and then secretly plotted to have her as a daughter in law one day.

Raika then turned to her dad and gave him a hug before running to join the other teens. "Thank you, dad! Take care and see you later!"

"Alright then, see you at home Raika." Tetsu then left with a smile on his face as he headed straight for a certain detective agency.

Mouri Detective Agency

Evening

Mouri Kogoro was half asleep at his desk when a knock on his door woke him up. "Uhgh!? Huh? Ran? Is that you? Did you forget your keys or something?" The ex-policeman asked as he slowly went to the door and opened it only to be surprised by a tall blond middle aged man in a brown suit.

"Umm, may I help you sir? The Detective Agency is still open for a few hours but I'm afraid an requests will have to begin tomorrow as I'm waiting for my daughter to return home after visiting someone and I don't wish to leave her alone afterwards for too long." Kogoro said in a respectful manner to a potential customer.

"Oh no, quite the opposite Mouri-san. I actually have an important offer for you." The mysterious man said.

This causing the Detective to raise an eyebrow in suspicion but nonetheless lead the man into the office so they can properly discuss the 'offer' and it's implications.

Once both parties were seated - after some quick refreshments prepared by Kogoro - the introductions and discussion had begun.

Same day

Kudo Manor

Evening

After the kids had fun playing and chatting with Yukiko for a few hours - with Shinichi showing Raika around the manor and Yukiko inviting her to visit any time she wants just like with Sonoko and Ran - the young teens were safely escorted to their homes by the mother and son. When the two got home they noticed that Yusaku was back already from his meeting (read: headache) with a half dozen editors and publishers.

"Ah, Yukiko, Shinichi. Welcome back, I see that everything went well with escorting Sonoko-kun, Ran-kun, and our third guest home? Though there seems to have been a forth at some point that was with the third." Yusaku stated after welcoming his family back.

Yukiko had a confused look after hearing Yusaku's quick deduction then after he pointed in the direction of the kitchen, Yukiko quickly understood how he noticed while being a bit embarrassed.

"Ah! Ehehe, sorry about that Yu-chan. I got so excited with Shin-chan's new friend being here that I had delayed cleaning the cups and dishes until after Shin-chan and I got home and had just left them in the sink." Yukiko stated while heading to go take care of the task.

"Oh yah, Tou-san! I actually wanted to discuss something with you and Kaa-san." Shinichi spoke up after Yukiko returned from the quick cleanup. "That forth guest..."

...

After Shinichi finished happily explaining everything - with him noticing Yusaku's very slight surprise at the guests' names - he showed the letters and pendant to the mystery novelist, who took a look at them with obvious amusement on his face before returning them to his son.

"Hmm... and Yukiko, your okay with this?" Yusaku asked.

"Of course! Both offers seem like an excellent opportunity for our dear Shin-chan! This way he can protect himself better and also pursue his dream with even more support and what looks like a stable career path! We both wanted to make sure to get your opinion though as you might notice if there's a problem with this." The Retired Actress replied.

"I see." Yusaku said while leaning back into his chair then looking at his son. "While normally the wording this would be suspicious, since the ones you mentioned are those Akechi's, I'm more than inclined to approve."

Rather... Shinichi, I believe you may have just gained some very powerful allies. Yusaku thinks to himself.

"Really!? Thanks Tou-san, Kaa-san! I'll tell them that next chance I get." Shinichi says as he goes to give his parents a hug.

The Yakuza and the Detective

Chapter 1: The Choice

At 4 years old child genius Kudo Shinichi met Mouri Ran.

...and nearly made her cry by calling her a crybaby despite impressing her and the other kids with his deduction. Seeing Ran's smile after giving up and apologizing, Shinichi decided that it wouldn't hurt to be less arrogant and more compassionate and kind, while unknowingly having a tiny smile of his own.

9 years later

A 13 year old Shinichi was walking home from the park with his soccer ball when he heard some commotion from the new shopping district and got curious. Deciding to approach while unaware of what this choice would lead to.

Once he got closer, Shinichi saw a large group of what initially seemed to be thugs - ranging from early 20s to late 40s in age and various ethnicities - surrounding a middle age man that's holding on to the arm of a blond girl around Shinichi's age. The man screamed at the group while moving his other hand to his pocket to grip something that looked long, wide, and sharp. "You thugs get back, or I'll call the Police! Between you dangerous looking folk, and a normal Japanese salary man, who do you think the cops would trust!"

"Probably these 'thugs' as you so rudely put it." Shinichi said as he walked a bit closer.

Then after taking a careful look around, he continued speaking. "Considering they haven't taken a step - despite most of them clearly being well built and observant - and look more nervous and upset rather than angry and aggressive. Likely out of worry for the girl and her safety." He says, whilst turn tword the blond girl.

"Said girl, by the way looks more afraid of you then the group, but is not able to run away due to how tightly your gripping her arm and a worried look of her own aimed at the group who are more than likely the shop keepers for the district based on their outfits and the items - ingredients, tools, and cooking utensils among other things - that they are carrying. Oh, and just in case you try to pull a fast one, I already called the police myself and am recording this conversation." This being said as Shinichi holds up his phone.

The suspicious middle aged man then starts to panic. "What are you talking about boy? These scary folks here are the ones trying to kidnap this girl... right?" The man leans down as he says the last part to the girl making her blanch and shake her head.

"Help me!" The blond girl screamed to Shinichi. Prompting him to kick the soccer ball at his feet towards the man. Hitting the arm that was holding the girl and letting her run to the group.

"Why you! Don't think I'll let you get away!" The man grows enraged and pulls out the knife he was hiding. Lunging with it at the girl to grab and threaten her, but as he is about to Shinichi pushes the girl out of the way. Further angering the kidnapper who then slashes at him - grazing his upper left arm and chest and making him stumble back on to the ground - before running away. Only to run into Inspector Megure and two uniformed officers.

"That's more then enough, your under arrest for attempted kidnapping as well as assault of a minor! Men, take him away and call an ambulance! We have a wounded!" The officers then proceeded to do so as Megure approached Shinichi who is calmly being treated by some of the group and fussed over by the blond girl.

"Ahem. Well, I see that you all are handling the treatment well enough, but despite that I hope you don't mind if we get him checked out just in case? We can handle the question at a later date, though I suspect it is largely unneeded due to the nature of the incident." This being said as Megure tilts down his hat while remembering a slightly similar incident from the past.

"I appreciate that Megure-Keibu. Oh yah, just in case I have the incident recorded." Then Shinichi hands his phone to Megure with his uninjured arm.

"Thank you Shinichi-kun. I'll make sure to return this as soon as possible."

About an hour later

The paramedics are finishing up checking on Shinichi and the blond girl just in case but aside from a bruise where the kidnapper gripped her arm she is cleared as okay. Once they head back to the group the blond girl turns around and looks straight at Shinichi with her bright pink eyes.

"Thank you so much for saving me and for sticking up for my fam.. I mean friends! I'm Raika, by the way! Akechi Raika! Nice to meet yah!"

"Friends? Oh, you mean the shop keepers. No problem, just doing my duty as a detective in training and those folk clearly care about you as they could obviously handle them selves but didn't want to risk you getting hurt."

Then it dawned on him that he hadn't made a proper introduction himself. "Oh yah I'm Shinichi, Kudo Shinichi. Nice to meet you as well."

"Kudo Shinichi... okay!" Raika then looked like she was thinking about something. "Umm, if you don't mind can you be my friend? I don't have any friends from here yet and would love it if you was my first friend!" Raika asked with the little bit of initial hesitation quickly changing into a look of determination and hope.

"Hm? Sure. I don't mind. I'm glad to make a new friend." Shinichi smiles upon saying that then pales as he sees the time on a nearby clock. "Crap! It's getting late and I didn't tell mom what happened! I gotta go! I hope I see again soon Raika" Then he hurries home while hoping his mom Yukiko isn't too mad.

Little did Shinichi realize the interesting secret nature of his new friendship and the strange new allies he unwittingly gained.

*Ring Ring* *Ring Ring* *Click* "Hello, Raika? Is everything okay? I heard from the folks that something happened earlier... what, really? Hmmm, well I'm glad everything seems to have turned for the for the better and congratulations on getting your 'First Friend'. Hey, something good actually happened for me as well. I have a 'job offer' in Osaka. I won't be as close by, but we can still visit each other easily as it's only a few hours away... yah, I'll miss you to Raika, but at least now you have another person to support you. Honestly... I'm really glad that your okay and that you seem much happier now... I... I don't know if I could handle even thinking about the 'job offer' if something worse happened. I'm gonna have to meet this 'First Friend' of your one day and thank him. Bye bye Raika, I need to finish the talks with a certain Family Friend, but I think I'll be able to see you at home before I leave.

A certain blond girl enters and heads to the third floor of the recently completed new building across from the street from the Mouri Detective Agency after smiling at it's freshly placed sign.

"Daaaaad! Mom! Nii-san! I'm HOOOOOME!"

As she's heading to the living room she encounters a slightly dark skinned man.

"Oh, Lil Mis'! It's nice to see ya here afta so long!"

"Nice to you to Heizo-Ojihan! You here to see dad or Ryuji-Nii?"

Abit ta' both actually, I actually wanted to visit your family and lefta' house warming gift since your back in Japan after 8 years. That and aside from talking to Boss Tetsu, I was able ta' convince ya' dad an' Ryuji-han to have ya' brother work with me in Osaka as a special envoy for your dad's 'Agency'. I hope ya' don't hold it against me Raika-chan."

"No prob Ojihan! I might miss Nii-san a bit, but Osaka's only a few hours away if I ever feel like seeing him!"

With that, the guest left and Raika wandered into the dinning room to find a miniature of Osaka Castle with a bow tie and a box of various home made ohagi. Just as she was about to grab one, a tall blond man with blond hair and sharp pink eyes walked in.

"Welcome back, did you wash your hands Raika?" Then upon noticing the bandages near her wrist, raised an eyebrow. "Is everything okay? I thought you was at 'The District' today?"

"Huh, oh this" Raika realized as she saw her dad's gaze on her arm. "There was some trouble, but it got handled nice and legally just like you like it dad. Oh, but because of that something really nice happened!" As Raika thinks back to earlier in the day, she get sparkles in her as and a light blush.

"I finally found my own 'First Friend' and was even saved by him! He's an amazingly amazing boy my age! He confronted the creep that grabbed me with a wonderful deduction and even stood up for 'The Family' even though they would USUALLY look scary to anyone that doesn't realize they're sweethearts!"

"Raika, breath." The man laughs as he reminds his daughter to breath due to getting so excited.

Raika took a deep breath then continued. "This boy... oh yah, his name is Kudo Shinichi! Not, only did he stand up for me and the others, he never even commented on my hair and treated me normally! He even did a cool kick with his soccer ball and made the guy release me then when the creep tried to grab me again - but this time with a knife- Shinichi pushed me out the way and got hurt... instead..."

Then the horror dawned on Raika after the realization. "I never apologized to him! I was really glad he helped, but I totally forgot to apologize for him getting hurt while saving me! I really hope I can apologize and that he forgives me..."

After hearing the story, Raika's dad grew curious about this Kudo Shinichi. "Don't worry Raika, from sounds of it, he seems to be a very nice fellow."

"Really, dad? Oh, that's good to hear! I can't wait to see him again!"

"Same here Raika, I'd love to personally meet him and thank him myself. In fact, I have a few ideas in mind..."

Arrival and Prep(The start of the main story and mostly the Twins heading to Yusaku's hideout to setup as their temporary base while getting/making sure they are ready to save Akemi when her case starts)

Life in Hiding(Living and solving/preventing cases - which requires research and far too much time to write - in hiding with Akemi till the week after Desperate Revival.)

Meeting the Past-Version Kudo Grandparents(Yusaku and Yukiko meeting the Twins and Akemi after realizing one of the anti-editor hideouts is in use)

2. Purple Cure Arc(Vermouth Arc):

Meeting with Vermouth 1 (The Twins and Vermouth - disguised as Araide- briefly encounter each other the day after the Bus Jacking Incident and the Twins - knowing that Vermouth can see through their light disguises and is suspicious of them - confront her directly at the Araide Clinic and easily convince her to ignore their presence due to by revealing their relations to Vermouth's treasured Conan and Ran)

Meeting with Vermouth 2 (At the end of the Vermouth Arc, the Twins track the wounded Vermouth to a Phonebooth before she calls for a ride, and give her a Modified Apotoxin - that simply cancles out the age-paralysis - that Future Haibara made. When they are leaving Vermouth asks why they took the risk to do this, to which they respond 'People can come up with many excuses to someone, but kindness is simple and doesn't need a complex reason' and that they their beloved Auntie Haibra told them that it was a lesson she learned from her closest friends. After the Twins leave her with those words and the cure, she decides that she's just gained two more 'treasures' and to forgive the Miyano Family)

A Better Life 1 (The Twins decide to talk to Conan and Haibra about the existence of the Full Cure in the Future and say that because of that - and even regardless of it - they should appreciate their current life as many good things have happened as a result. They especially address Conan and teach him to try and appreciate 'Conan' and not be spiteful because it lead to him becoming a better person and gain many more friends as well as become closer to his family.)

A Better Life 2 (The Twins give Conan and Haibra each one of the Modified Apotoxin after their talk then clarify that Sumire learned from Future Haibara how to make stable temp antidotes - can last for various longer, and more consistent times depending on the formula - for Apotoxin, but they will only give they will mostly only give it during the times they learned that Conan uses past Haibara's version so as to not take needless risks. Right after, the Twins clarify that they will otherwise keep it locked up in a custom safe - that only the Twins can access- so that no accidents happen - and that while a permanentcure does eventually happen, )

"It's almost time Shiryu Nii-chan! I can't wait!"

"Same here, Sumire. I'm excited to finally see their younger selves in person. Especially Papa due to his... situation. We've heard a lot about what Papa had to deal with from him and many of our friends and family, but it's a whole nother thing to interact with."

"Ne ne, nii-chan?"

"Yes, Sumire?"

"Nii-chan, do you think that Papa and Mama will be happy to see us here?"

"No problem, Sumire. Though I do suspect that their gonna need a minute... or a day to recover from the shock. Especially Papa, thanks to our "prank". Otherwise I'm sure that they'll be happy to see us as Haibara Onee-sama told us that Papa and Mama where just as kinda and loving in the past as they are in the future."

"Hmmm, that makes me happy to remember. Thanks again nii-chan! Though I hope Mama doesn't stay mad at Papa for to long after the reveal."

"It should be fine Sumire, especially since I remember hearing that Mama ended up forgiving Papa fairly quickly."

Meanwhile

In front of the Mouri Detective Agency

Conan POV

Conan and Ran are back from shopping with both having had the feeling of being watched for the past 30 minutes, but sensing no hostility. Having looked all around them yet not finding anyone suspicious they entered the agency stairway and where about to open the apartment door only to notice that there was a note on the the door. The note had a a small purple dragon and a violet next to each other with an arrow pointing up.

"Hmmm? What's with the note? Conan-kun, did you put this here?"

"No? I've never seen that before, Ran-neechan. Hmm, I wonder if this is related to the strange presence that we've been noticing. Whoever it is seems harmless enough, and since it seems that we are being directed to the roof we should be safe as it is wide open and easy to view from the street in case something does happen."

"Huh... that's quite the observation Conan-kun."

"Ah... eheheh, well I've been learning a lot from Shinichi nii-chan, and have lived here for a while! Right? Anyways! Let's go see who it is that left this note!" Hold on.. the roof is locked, how would someone get to the roof then?

On the rooftop

"Huh, there's no one here? Ran nee-chan, do you see anyone near the entry way?"

"No? I don't see any here? Oh, there's another note. [Turn around, and go back to the apartment]?"

Immediately after they headed back downstairs they found another note on the apartment door. This time with the little purple dragon and the violet next to each other then an arrow pointing horizontally to a house. Above the arrow is an open door and below it a numberless clock face with just the hour hand pointing straight up and 30 degrees being written to its side. At the bottom only the note there's also another set of images. A big heart containing a familiar looking pair of glasses(that has the number 1 on the right lens with the other being white like a lens glare) next to a karate gi wrapped around an orchid that has a blackbelt. From the heart an arrow is pointing to another house, but inside the doorway there's the same glasses and karate gi with the purple dragon and violet.

Conan ended up breaking into a blush after realizing the implications of the message and didn't realize until a bit later that Ran was giving a subtle glance after blushing herself.

"Huh... noway..." Hahaha, this has gotta be a prank cause that's not possible right? Otherwise this means some one found out the truth behind 'Conan' and if that was the case... no wait, solve the message first instead of panicking. If they meant anyharm then they wouldn't go through all this trouble to tease me and Ran. Interesting though that this is slightly reminiscent of KIDs riddles, but different enough to not really be his style. It's almost... childish?

Alright, so the the first half of the riddle is simple enough. This 'purple dragon and violet' are likely two people and will be entering - likely expecting to be let in to - the apartment as no other location is indicated in what seems to be an hour given how the clock face only contains the hour hand with 30 degrees meaning 1 hour and not an actual time. This likely means that as soon as we enter the apartment the timer starts that way they don't need to account for time to solve the riddle... in which case... are they watching!? Calm down... they seem harmless so continue.

Okay the next part of the riddle... the Glasses and Karate Gi wrapped around an Orchid in the heart... they likely indicates me and Ran - Orchid literally being 'RAN' in Japanese- and the 1 behind the lens is the 'one behind the lens' or 'the persons true self' perhaps also referring to the Ichi in Shinichi as this riddle does have that childish air about it. Childish... hmmm. Next, the arrow from the heart to the house with the glasses, gi, purple dragon, and violet. That means that Ran and Me... being together leads to that house that has the those four. Does that mean, they'll be living here? No it can't be that simple, the fact that it's lead from the heart mean... they're our kids somehow!? If... if that's the case then HOW??? Also, that would mean the 'purple dragon and violet' would be a key trait to them -like with the glasses and gi- and an identifier to there names. Purple... both are purple.... like... Ran's eyes. I guess that's the trait, as for the names... Purple Dragon...Shiryu? The Violet seems a bit more simple. If taken as a direct Japanese word, then Sumire? Shiryu and Sumire, a boy and a girl?

Well, all that's left now is to enter the apartment and wait... preferably with the door closed as... if someone does arrive then it's likely that rest of the 'riddle' is true and it's not just a prank from someone in the know like my parents or Haibara(it's not their style anyway). In which case, I need to confess the truth to Ran before anyone else does - children or not - the second that there's a knock after an hour.

Now to just distract Ran until then... Ah, perfect the door!

"Ran-neechan? Did you leave the door unlocked?"

"No... I'm fairly certain I locked it after putting the groceries away"

Slowly, Ran and Conan entered the apartment while looking for any sign of an intruder, but found no disturbances. About an hour later they settled down in the living room.

Knock Knock

Oh... I guess it's time... Takes a Deep Breath

"Umm, Ran...?"

"Yes... Shinichi?

"I'M SORRY! I'm really, really sorry! I can explain later, but I swear I didn't mean to hurt you have felt absolutely terrible every time I had to lie and.. and I LOVE YOU RAN!! I've loved you since we were four and still do! I missed my chance to say this at the restaurant and I'll explain that as well later, but... Ran! Will you please Marry Me!

Ran starts tearing up

"Umm Ran...?"

"...Shinichi"

"Ran, are you okay?"

"Yes!"

"Huh?"

Then Ran look straight with a big teary smile just like when she was a kid.

"YES! Yes, I accept, Shinichi! You better properly explain later, but yes! I've loved you for so long that despite all the questions I could have the first thought the comes to mind is 'Finally! Finally it happened'!

"Thank you, Ran." I'm so glad that went better than expected! Although, I'm likely in for a lecture later on about self preservation.

With a bright smile of his own, Conan no, Shinichi breathed an immense sigh of relief before getting startled by the sounds from the front door.

Knock Knock

After taking a deep breath Shinichi and Ran give a subtle nod to each other carefully approach the door, and then slowly open it to find what seemed to be a 10 year old boy and girl each with purple eyes, a baseball cap with their hair tucked in, and a familiar air about them looking straight at Shinichi and Ran.

"No way... Um... Shiryu and Sumire? I can't believe this...

The boy and girl took a look at each other grew bright adorable grins and then looked back to Shinichi and Ran before tackling them to the ground in a big hug together.

On the other side of the apartment door at the Mouri Detective Agency

"Oh! It's time! Can I do the honors Nii-chan?"

"Hm? Sure thing, Sumire!" Some how I get the feeling the secret weapon won't be needed.

Sumire then proceeded to knock on the door as Shiryu placed the family photo of them - as babies playing while their parents sat next to each other with peaceful smiles next to a tree in the Kudo Houses yard - back into his pocket.

After a few seconds, Shiryu and Sumire could lightly hear their Past Version Parents conversations and gave a cheeky grin to each other.

"It worked Nii-chan! It worked!"

"Heh, Yup!" Wow... Papa and Mama really were just as lovey dovey in the past they are in our time. Funny how so similar to Yusaku Oji-san and Yukiko Oba... Onee-san... Even the past versions of them where obviously head over heels for each other when we met them after saving Akemi Onee-san.

"Alright, Sumire. Knock on the door again."

"Got it, Nii-Chan! Oh, yah! If Papa gets our names right on the first guess then I'm totally tackle hugging them!"

"Funny, I was just about to say the same thing!"

"Ready, Nii-Chan?"

"Ready, Sumire!"

A few seconds later, the door slowly opens and the Twins look at their past version parents.

"No way... Um... Shiryu and Sumire?"

Light sounds can be heard from inside the house.

"Ai-kun? Can you get the door please?

Just as Haibara was thinking that and opened the door, she was greeted by the one face she never expected to see.

"O... Onee-san?

Akemi gives a teary and undeniably real smile to her little sister and bends down to hug Ai. Only after standing paralyzed for a few seconds does Ai... no, Shiho realize that this really is her beloved big sister and not some ghost or imposter and hugs her back while both cry tears of joy at this wonderful reunion.

"I'm back, Shiho."

And with tears in her eyes, Shiho responds with a bright smile.

"Welcome back, Onee-san!"

Aoko is deadly with a mop(read: basically a polearm)

Ran can break walls (and bend a light pole)

Sato, Yumi, and Miike Naeko all know Judo and have folks that will also back them up(especially Sato)

Eri knows a bit of Judo and come up with a hundred and one ways to send up to jail(further proof she loves Kogoro - who will also run to protect her - as she still puts up with him)

Ayumi... I'm half convinced she's the true danger magnet of the Shonen Tantei Dan given how she hardly shyes away from trouble and has SUCCESSFULLY gotten the friendship of Conan and Haibara, with Ayumi becoming the laters best friend.

Akako... well... I think Kaito has dealt with her nonsense enough to flinch at the word magic.

Kazuha knows Aikido and is dangerous calm under pressure.

Vermouth, Chanti, Kir, and Curacao... yah that's more than self explanatory if you know detective conan.

Sonoko is money dangerous and even though she doesn't really abuse that, she still has Makoto and Ran to sic on any jerk that messes with her.

Detective AU Fanfic idea I had:

Shinichi and Ran's 10 year Twins Shiryu(boy) and Sumire(girl) from the future come to take care of Certain Tasks while eventually hanging out with their Shrunken Papa and Teenage Mom(as well as many of their families close friends and relatives) while simultaneously indulging in helpful "mischief". Chief of which being them instantly outing Conan as Shinichi to Ran using themselves and knowledge that only Shinichi and Ran should know as proof.

There are two strong focuses of this story. One is the Twins being involved in many of Conan's cases along side him while sometimes outright taking over the majority of a case due to being able to handle certain tasks safer and with better results thanks to their skill sets. The second strong focus is lots of wholesome moments and sidestories with Conan, Ran, various members of the Twins' extended family -Kogoro and Eri, Yusaku and Yukiko, and even Kaito and his Mom then later Toichi after they get Chikage get to convince Toichi to properly reunite with Kaito without tricks or excuses- as well as hanging out with various family friends like the Shounen Tantei Dan, Sonoko, Haibara, Masumi, and many more.

Some of the people, they eventually tell about who they really are, for those that are not in the know, the Twins go under the family name of Edogawa(while wearing light disguises of a wig(Sumire, who also normally needs glasses) and color contacts to hide their similarity to Ran and limit their explain as "relatives of Conan" so they don't need complicated lies.

On occasion, the Twins would participate in some heists and hang out with Kaito and the Ekoda Crew. I'm debating on whether to have Aoko be distantly related to Ran through their mother's being cousins just so the Twins have more family(all of the Nakamori's) to bond with although that might not be needed if with Kaito and Aoko being paired up.

The Twins' main missions that they feel is safe to go through without negative reprocussions if done carefully:

1. Save Akemi: When the Twins arrive they convince her to let them help her Fake her death with a pre-made death certificate that they sneak into the appropriate registries, bloodbags/Kevlar set, and a disguise set for making one of the unidentified bodies in the morgue with a similar enough build look like Akemi.

During the plan and after which the Twins and Akemi(who now wears a disguise in public to look similar to the Twins) live together in one of the many pre-stocked hide aways belonging to Yusaku and Yukiko - that they learn about from them in the future - but get caught by the Kudo Couple at the first week after saving Akemi, due to the Yusaku noticing the charges on account linked to the hide out. They make a deal with Yusaku(after he figures out who they are and some of their skills like acting, sneaking and Shiryu's highly advanced disguises) as well a Yukiko to help them mess with Yusaku's editors and then hangout(read: play with) with them(especially Yukiko) in exchange for continued use of the out whenever needed. Once they Twins feels it's the right time(by secretly keeping track of Conan' cases) then soon after Desperate Revival, the Twins and Akemi finally meet/reunite with Conan and Ran, as well as Haibara whom they reveal was their favorite "Auntie" and wanted to make her happy by reunite her with her sister.

Thus ending the intro Arc, that I dub "Purple Reunion". An important thing during the Arc though like I said before is that the Twins assist with preventing some miserable cases(Like the Ray Curtis Case), but at this point they can't do much do to being mostly in hiding. After they meet Conan and move in with Agasa though(cause the Agency would be a tad suspicious) they get publicly established as Conan's relatives and enroll in Teitan Elementary/Middle School as 5th graders so they don't have to hide anymore(but they still need the wig and contacts in public due to their similar looks to Ran)

2. Vermouth Arc:

This Arc is kinda the same on the Main story side except for Shiryu and Sumire participateing in the cases and later directly meeting Vermouth twice. Once when she is disguisd as "Araide" after the Bus Jacking Case as they realizes it will difficult to fool her with with the disguises and alias' (although they do get a funny reaction and then a hug from her after she figures them out) ;During said meeting, they easily convince her to act as if they don't exist and cover up any suspicion that heads their way which she agrees to due to being the children of her treasures. During the Second Mainstory - have to be specific about this - Direct encounter with Vermouth, they Twins go to the phone booth she is at using a tracker they had Conan(begrudgingly) plant on her and before she calls Gin, they give her a Modified Apotoxin made by future Haibara that can simply remove the unwanted psudo-agelessness as well as allow Vermouth to have kids of her own since the drug won't be flowing through her blood anymore. In exchange, they have Vermouth agree to not only leave Haibara alone, but to forgive the Miyano Family as they didn't want to hurt anyone but was rather forced. Afterwards Vermouth asks why the Twins went out of their way to do this despitethe risk, and the Twins leave Vermouth with the words that they heard from Future Haibara, "One can come up with a thousand reasons to hurt someone, but a reason is simply not needed to show kindness". These words end up bringing a tear to Vermouth's eye and she thinks to herself the she just gained two more precious treasures.

In regards to the Modified Apotoxin. Conan and Haibara also receive one each with Sumire telling them that she learned enough from Future Haibara to help work on a semi-antidote that has less stressful activation and deactivation as well as calculated amounts of time, but the condition for working on the semi formula as well as the Perfect Antidote is Conan agreeing to two conditions. One being that "Kudo Shinichi" and any one else that was shrunk can not make a "full" return until after the BO is taken down. Two is that Conan agrees to stop worrying about returning to normal and appreciate that he is still alive as well as the fact he will only get the semi-antidote during the times he supposed to in the original timeline, with a few exceptions if he is on good behavior. And to avoid potential mistakes, the antidotes are always kept in a safe that only the Twins can access in Agasa's Lab.
