gonna forgo the usual rage monologue about the pharmaceutical industry here and get right to it: a coworker just shared this fundraiser for a family they know whose kid has spinal muscular atrophy and needs a single dose of lifesaving gene therapy before his third birthday on may 27th (at which point he'll no longer be eligible).

they're just over seventy percent funded, but it costs just over two million dollars for this one-time treatment that can stop (and potentially reverse) the effects of SMA, which otherwise has pretty severe mortality rates. they need about $640k in the next week. only so much I can do on my little slice of the internet but if you can spare any kinds of donation here it'll put my own soul at ease and could make an immense difference for ayaansh.

Jokes on you, I hate everything on that list except one lol. My friend fits that damn stereotype though.. he snapchats me videos of his talking kratom with kombucha.. sigh.

I've had horrible heart palpitations and some electric nonsense happening all day that has made me feel like I wanna several my fucking spinal cord just so it would stop, but man, kratom is a miracle. Finally some goddamn relief.

My brother’s in town for a while and he’s been insistent on this new health tea thing he’s taking called kratom. I made myself some yesterday with a very very weak mix of it and despite tasting like the worst thing ever I did find myself in a very good mood. However it’s now almost 7pm and he said I should try it in the evening because it might help for sleep. I said yes but this time he was the one to mix it for me.

I think he clearly made it MUCH stronger than I did yesterday because it’s about 10 minutes after I’ve taken it and I’m feeling extremely EXTREMELY dizzy and my face feels so flushed.

My brother insisted this is a health drink and he’s been using it for weeks if not months but like…. this is probably not a good sign in regards to me drinking it too, huh? Is it worth trying a lower dose again or should I just stay away from the stuff. Anyone know?

Anyway. I dunno if you guys know anything about it. I’ve finished work for today so I’m just gonna lie and surf tumblr and youtube for a bit until the dizziness goes away.

a quick wiki search tells me that I am indeed suffering from the textbook side effects of it. It appears it’s safe though. I just did not think a health tea would cause such a reaction.

Some girls at work have been using Kratom for an energy boost (as a ‘safer’ alternative to other uppers like coke and adderall).

Anyone have any experience with it? I refuse to consume any altering substance until I know a decent bit about it, and the internet isn’t being so helpful. There are countless sites about Kratom’s use for opiate withdrawal, but not so much for energy/up lifting impacts.

It tends to be dangerous. It’s a natural drug derived from plants but it does have drawbacks. You can overdose from it and die, though I don’t know how much it takes for that to happen. My advice would be to just stay away from it.

I would just take a half or a whole caffeine pill for a tiring night tbh.

There are literally zero recorded deaths related to overdosing on kratom. The fact that it's natural literally makes it only as dangerous as any other plant. Caffeine is INSANELY easy to OD on! I literally know a person who did. Please don't spread misinformation. You can take too much, which causes headaches, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. But you literally cannot legally overdose on kratom. You would have to take so much it would be impossible to do without vomiting it up. There are risks to kratom, just like any other drug. Allergies, interactions with medication, it can worsen anxiety or depression rather than make it better. Basically the same issues antidepressants have. There is small to zero chance of physical addiction, with slight psychological addiction chances.

Kratom is so much better, it's basically non addictive, it feels great, it's legal in most states. The only issue is the amount you have to take, and the taste. There are ways to get past that, pill capsules and whatnot. I've been taking it for like a year or so now, and I love it.
