Bomi find that even flustered she still finds Changsun rather attractive and she has now taken on the job of introducing him to as many puns as humanly possible tonight. Changsun will then become Bomi’s protege and they can spew puns off into the sunset. In the mean time, she should probably order.

Bomi looks back to the cashier, who now has a very bored look on her face but patiently waits for someone to order. Bomi looks over the menu quickly.“Okay, well I’ll just have a 16 piece chicken and me and my friend can share.” 

“Your total is $25.” The cashier drawls as she puts in the order. Bomi pulls out her wallet before he can protest because it’s the least she can do as she initiates him into her pun-loving world.

he really really didn’t know what he should say in this sort of situation. flirting normally just went right over his head, he was hardly someone who got flirted at a lot and most of the time he was just a bit oblivious to everything. but right now, while half-asleep he did pick up on it and didn’t know what he should say or how he should act about it. all he could do was stand there and cough a little awkwardly. 

and then, to him at least, the situation got from bad to worse as bomi ordered 16 pieces of chicken for the both of them and had already pulled out the money to pay for it as well. “no, don’t,” he cut in quickly, reaching for his pocket where he kept his wallet, “at least let me pay for my half.” not that he thought he was going to eat 8 pieces of chicken, but he at least wanted to pay for it and not get a free meal. 

pulling out his wallet, he opened it up, nose wrinkling up just a little as he realized he didn’t have the change and only had his cards on him. well, that was not going to work. “at least let me pay you back at some point,” he did have to insist with a small nod of his head, “i can’t let you just buy me food like this.”

“Maybe this is just my way of caring. It’s bad manners to just bring over snacks for myself, right?“ Hyungwon huffed, lightly bumping shoulders against the younger. Where was the appreciation for his goodwill or whatever? "Fine, next time I’ll get you something boring like apple slices or celery. There, then you can keep your muscle and I can keep my act of kindness.” The solution was actually a pretty good idea, if he did say so himself. It wasn’t like he couldn’t afford to pick up some fruits for Changsun, not with the amount of junk food he was buying anyway. For now, he’d just leave the chips around as revenge for being forced to eat something decent for once. Maybe he wanted to go to an early grave. How about that?

Shrugging, Hyungwon crunched down on another chip. “Ahh yes, I just happen to have money lying around for the specific use of taking a cooking class I will never use. That’s what delivery and the supermarket is for. If I want green in my diet that much I’ll just order it. It’ll probably be healthier than the burnt mess I’d make anyway.” He gasped at the ‘grandpa’ remark, putting a hand to his chest. How dare he! Changsun wasn’t even that much younger than him either! He was this close to throwing a chip at his head. “Just get cooking already, you peasant. You’re like two years younger than me!”

“you don’t have to bring anything, i have some stuff you could snack on if you wanted it in the cupboard,” he just admitted with a shrug of his shoulder. and he probably would have preferred if he didn’t bring anything because the snacks were just going to sit there and stare at him and make him want to eat them. but he would be strong and put it off. “just save your money and don’t bring me anything,” he did have to say with a small laugh and a shake of his head, “i don’t eat much anyways.” enough to keep him going and enough to stop him from starving to death, but not much else besides that. 

“i don’t think it’s that expensive to get some cooking lessons. and the delivery and supermarket is not going to teach you how to cook so you’ll still end up burning it,” unless he just stuck to ready meals you stick in the oven or microwave, which really wasn’t all too healthy. “i’m still younger,” he did point out with a cheeky grin, scampering off towards the kitchen area before he could get assaulted with a piece of food or maybe a pillow. “you just get in some practice games,” he called as he opened up the fridge, frowning a little as he looked over what was in his fridge. from the looks of things, he needed to go shopping again. “i have some chicken, if you want that.”

“Nightmares or night terrors? I mean, I’m not trying to pry or anything I just used to get both so I understand.” She gives him a small smile. “That’s a pretty unorthodox method of treatment but to each their own.” 

Bomi looks to the floor thoughtfully, looks up to meet his eyes again with something mischievous in her own. She cups her cheeks and smiles wider, “Well, at least you won’t have to pinch yourself awake now that you’ve seen the girl of your dreams.”

“Ma’am, please get off the counter.”

“Huh?” Bomi turns in surprise to the voice that’s interrupted her, an irritated looking woman back to man the register. She jumps down from her perch and flashes a smile at her. “Yeah, sure, sorry.” She turns to look at Changsun. “Did you want to order first?”

he frowned for just a moment before shrugging his shoulders. “just bad dreams,” he decided to go with eventually, “bad enough to wake me up in the middle of the night.” and it was rather annoying to deal with, but he was coping just fine. well, just fine more or less so long as you didn’t count the having to snack on naughty things as not coping. 

though her next quip did leave him a little lost for words, blinking in confusion, jaw just flapping as he tried to come up with the right words to respond to that particular comment with. “i, um, right,” it was all he could manage to say, a slight blush dusting his cheeks as he anxiously rubbed the back of his neck with a hand. while he wouldn’t say that she was bad looking or anything, that was just a little too much even for him and he would have much preferred if she hadn’t said something like that. it didn’t really help that it was 3 in the morning and they were standing in a kfc, either. 

 he did have to offer his own little apologetic smile for bomi’s bad behaviour at the worker, but he didn’t say anything, just shaking his head again at the offer. “no, you’re in front so you can go first. i’m not in a rush.” while he would quite like to go back and get in some proper hours, it wasn’t that important and he could just make up for it by sleeping in later than he normally would.

“And I thought by now you’d know that I don’t care about your diet. And anyway, it’s the thought that counts, right? It’d feel weird to bring all this food over and eat it by myself. Just accept my generous heart already, Changsun.” Hyungwon smirked, eating some more chips. He wasn’t going to force Changsun to partake in the snacks as well, but… Well, he wasn’t going to stop snacking anytime soon either. “Something good. With shrimp, or meat. I’d say the less vegetables the better, but you’re going to make me, aren’t you?” It was a thought that made him sigh, especially as Hyungwon could be a rather picky eater. But if Changsun turned a pout at him, he knew he’d give in soon enough.

“I tried cooking class once,” Hyungwon claimed, pausing for a second. “I–okay, it was a friend who was teaching me, but. He watched me make instant noodles and pushed me out of the kitchen halfway. That’s pretty sad,” he stated, almost proud of himself. Hey, not just anyone could mess up ramyun. It took a special skill to be that bad. He’d be happier if his playing skill was special too, but it was just mediocre at best. Hyungwon managed to get a blue shell in before the end of the race, but he’d lagged so far behind it didn’t make a difference. He just used the shell out of spite. “Shut up, I’m older than you,” he grumbled. He shouted at the sharp elbow and whined, flailing his arm at Changsun’s face. “Get out of here and leave me alone to die already.”

“i know that you don’t care, but it’s nice to at least pretend you care a little and not try and dump all kinds of snacks on me,” especially seeing as he had no intentions of eating much of it if he could help it. maybe hyungwon would just take a lot of it away with him again, and if not, then changsun could always try and flog it off to someone who would want it all. “i’ll just see what i have in the fridge,” and with whatever was in there he supposed that he could make ‘something good’. though hyungwon was incredibly correct and he was going to make vegetables and he was going to eat them. he needed some greens in his diet if he wanted to avoid an early death from high cholesterol or something. 

the bridge of his nose wrinkled up as he frowned, shaking his head a little from side to side, “that’s not a proper cooking class, i’m talking about one with a professional who’s not going to kick you out of the kitchen when you get it wrong.” because not everyone was going to get it right 100 percent of the time, they were going to be mistakes, especially if you just happened to be a terrible cook. you had to start somewhere. “yes, grandpa,” he just said with a smirk, quickly standing up and making sharpish work of getting out of the way of any arms which might come in his direction for that particular quip, “you just sit there and get in some practice and i’ll go see what i have in the fridge.”

Bomi walks inside half-facing Changsun so that he can hear her but also because she just wants to look at him. “Of course it’s a good point. There have been worse ideas at 3:00 am. Like helping drunk people ‘rescue’ stray cats.” She shivers at the flashbacks of the scratches she nursed for months. Yeah not one of her better ideas.

She chuckles a little as she bounds over to the ordering counter. “Well you’re right but it wouldn’t have sounded as catchy yknow?” Bomi notices how there’s no one at the register or even manning the kitchen and decides to be ‘that person’ and perches herself on the countertop. Bomi leans against the wall next to her. “But that leads to a more interesting question. What brings you out so late anyway Lee Changsun?”

he was rather thankful that they were inside, and now the door was closed his face was already starting to warm up again. it was actually colder outside than he thought and you only really noticed once you got inside to the warmth again. “that must have... been an experience,” he stated with a small laugh and a shake of his head. it sounded like quite a bad idea in his opinion and he bet half the cats they were supposedly rescuing didn’t even need rescuing in the first place. she was quite right, there were certainly worse ideas you have at three in the morning. 

“that’s quite true,” he admitted with a small humming noise, nodding his head, “it wouldn’t have sounded half as good.” he shoved his hands back into the warm pockets of his hoodie, walking a little behind her towards the counter. though he couldn’t help but crinkle his nose a little as she hopped up onto the counter to perch on top of it because there was no one around. but he chose not to say anything about it, instead just focusing on the question he had been asked. “i get nightmares sometimes,” he gestured to his head with a hand, not really minding admitting that, “and stuffing my face with unhealthy food helps me feel better.”

With his question about her leg she paused, before nodding.  There was no use denying it.  He was right anyway, these kind of injuries did ache in the cold.  It wasn’t the type of ache that old people got, the kind where they said their knee was aching so rain must be on the way.  It was more that extreme temperatures affected the pins and rods that held her leg together.  In weather like this they froze and it was an intense metallic chill that she couldn’t get rid of.

“Yeah, the water should help though,” she said.  Already from just having it dangling in the warm water was starting to bring it closer to a regular temperature.  It was lucky that she existed in a period of time that heated pools were even a thing, otherwise she might be in a bit of trouble.

Eve laughed along with him at the mention of the class and nodded again, her cheeks blushing lightly.  She supposed it was pretty obvious, even if she hadn’t seen all the kids climbing out of the pool.  “Your younger classes… what do you do with the older one?”

he knew it must be hard to have that kind of injury, because while it heals so only a scar remains visible, people still had to struggle with inconvenience and pain for the rest of their lives. changsun knew that he would never want an injury like that, no doubt it would put an end to the constant swimming and he really didn’t know how he would cope without being able to swim for hours at a time. it was his way to relax and he loved it more than anything and losing that would be nothing sort of tragic. 

“well, the pool is nice and warm so i’m sure it will be feeling better in no time at all!” he beamed, trying his best to cheer her up a little and maybe take her mind off the pain she was feeling for a moment. “and you can stay as long as you like as well. it’s so warm in there that when you get in you don’t really want to get out again because it’s cold out of the water.”

and then she was asking about his classes and he grinned a little wider. now that was a subject he could honestly talk about for hours, but he would spare her from that and try and keep it short. “a lot of older kids still need to learn how to swim, not all of them know how to do it,” he had teenagers who had never been in the water before his lessons and didn’t know the first thing about swimming. “but i also do advanced swimming training for kids who compete and water aerobic things for the older generation.”

“Well, the plan was to share with you, but now I got to pick up the slack, right?” Hyungwon ignored the look Changsun was giving him, choosing to drop another chip into his mouth. Still, ugh… Did Changsun have to make him feel so guilty? “Okay, fine, I’ll just eat half of it. And whatever food you make later. But I’m leaving the rest here for next time. I did not buy all this junk food for it to be eaten alone.” Hyungwon waved another chip threateningly, following it up with a pointed crunch between his teeth. “And trust me, lessons wouldn’t do anything for me. Thank god for supermarket meals or I really would live off of junk food…” Okay, that thought was a bit nauseous even to him. Hyungwon shuddered, scooting closer to his friend to better elbow at his side. Or, at least try. It was a bit hard snacking, holding a conversation, trying not to fall off the road, and accurately elbow someone all at the same time. He tended to be a lot better at sticking all his focus in one thing. “Well… Respect me more. You’re supposed to… Like, automatically, come on! Stop leaving all the bananas there!” Hyungwon groaned as his character fell off the screen. And as hard as he tried to play catch up, Changsun still won the round. “You’re awful. Why do I play with you–One more time.”

“i thought you would know by now that I don’t really snack a lot,” that was normally one of the first things that people learned about him. and it was good that he didn’t eat a lot of junk during the day because that meant he could slip up from time to time and snack on large amounts of fried chicken with little repercussions. “talking of later, you want anything specific?” if there was a request then he would try and make it, but if not he would just look what he had in the fridge he could thrown together to call a meal. “and have you taken any cooking lessons to know they won’t do anything for you?” he did have to wonder, eyebrow inching a little up his face, “don’t bash what you haven’t even tried.”

the elbowing in his side, or the attempted elbowing, was only making him laugh a little harder. and that was ever so slightly putting him off the game, but he was finding that he was not going to be eating his words and was in the lead quite comfortably. just so long as no one harassed him with constant blue shells he’d be good. “you sure you don’t want to practice without me for a bit?” he did have to tease as he crossed the finish line, finally turning a little to give on hearty elbow to the side back. “it’s just embarrassing to see you lose so bad, hyung. i can always leave the room for a couple of minutes.”

“And I almost majored in law, but that doesn’t mean I understand my taxes.” Hyungwon scoffed, defiantly stuffing more chips in his mouth. He knew there was truth in what Changsun was saying, but just words didn’t feel enough to stop him. He still exercised everyday, and it wasn’t like he lived only off of junk food… It was just readily available and tasty. “I don’t do this everyday, just like… Once a week or something. You know I can’t cook,” he whined, jabbing weakly at his controller. “Remember that time I made watery ramyun and it was still the best I ever made?” Hyungwon blinked at the other for a moment before schooling his face to a blank scowl. He was not pouting. …Was he? Hyungwon really couldn’t tell half the time. Whatever his face did, it just… did. He never worked hard to control his emotions, really. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Have some respect for your elders, okay?” Changsun, no matter how much of a brat he was, was too cute to glare at though, so Hyungwon settled for glaring at the TV instead, starting up a round. “I’m gonna make you eat your words, that’s what. Get ready for a heart attack.”

“it’s not like i majored in ‘eating healthy’ or anything, but i still know that eating all of that isn’t going to be good for you,” he couldn’t help but point out, still serving hyungwon a rather disapproving look as he continued to shove chips in his mouth. but he supposed he couldn’t complain too much when he was the one who stuffed his face with fried chicken or something equally unhealthy when he had a nightmare, but that was beside the point. he still ate healthier than this and that was just occasionally, it was not like he had a nightmare every single night. “then take cooking lessons,” he offered with a shrug, “or buy ready meals or something. anything is better than what you’re eating now.” 

changsun could just smirk a little as he noticed that hyungwon was now trying to change his facial expression. not that he had been pouting before and his words had just been a lie, but that’s what made it all more amusing for him. “i do respect you... most of the time. if you want more respect you are going to have to earn it,” he was still just teasing him now, but it was just too much fun to pass up making fun of him. but his focus was still on the game as a round was set up, fingers already itching at the accelerator. “i still think you’ll find that you’re going to be the one with a heart attack if you keep this up,” he just pointed out with a grin, “and you can never make me eat my words.”

Ilhoon is out trying to get himself killed – or at least that’s what his friends say when he mentions that he’s been up at 4am the night before. They gush over the hectic life he has and that they are convinced to be full of parties and fun and weird stuff. They are only half right. Most of the time, Ilhoon feeds that idea to them instead of shrugging and telling them that he is, in fact, a chronic insomniac. They’d probably find the idea fascinating because he works so well during the wee hours of the night while they can’t function three straight days with only a couple of hours of sleep. It’s not that Ilhoon wants to go to bed at 5am or wake up at 2 and not be able to sleep again for the rest of the night. There’s hardly anything romantic or awesome about that notion. So he finds himself at his current spot, with a plate of chicken wings and a bottle of soju beside it. There’s no shame in saying he’s half way though and that he may have begged for a few fried legs as well. The chicken place’s owner is a cute auntie who obviously adores him (who doesn’t?), so she’s given in and sets the other plate in front of him soon after. He gives her his most blinding smile and offers to kiss her cheek, but she smacks him on the back and goes back laughing.

He is distracted when the other shows up, busy with peeling the meat out of one of the freshly fried chicken legs but he still greets him, hands greasy and all. “When am I able to sleep at all, that’s the real question here. Grab a seat,” he says, pointing at the chair across from his “What’s keeping you up tonight?”

this was not the first time the two had met in this particular place at an odd hour of the morning. ilhoon was an insomniac and changsun woke up at odd hours thanks to nightmares from time to time, and they both had a fondness for fried chick and lives close to each other, so it would have been surprising if they hadn’t bumped into each other before now. but they had so at least there wasn’t going to be the awkward first time greeting and trying to explain what they were doing eating fried chicken at four in the morning. and it seemed that ilhoon was going further than that and was drinking soju as well, but changsun was going to skip on the alcohol as he didn’t really want to pass out drunk or get a hangover. (yes, he was a lightweight and he wasn’t ashamed of that, either.) 

“usual, please,” he just ordered with a cheerful smile, well, the best cheerful smile he could pull off this early in the morning before he slipped into the offered seat. though he was fighting back a yawn, hands tussling with his own hair as he just tried to keep it out of his face. this was probably sign he needed to get it trimmed back again, but at the moment, he really couldn’t be bothered to think about that and would just have to remind himself when he was a little more awake. 

he laughed a little at those words, shifting his shoulders at the posed question. “just the usual,” he responded with a small shake of his head, “sometimes i think my brain must hate me or something.”

Usually when Bomi falls for people this late at night they either A: ignore her completely and go about their day, or B: tell her to go away and go about their day. She can say its mostly fair seeing as its an hour of the night where people usually want be alone. But this guy isn’t doing the ‘going about his day’ part and just that serves as enough encouragement for Bomi.

“Yeah why not y’know. You were going to eat alone, I was going to eat alone. Why not eat together and make it a party.” Bomi says this as she enthusiastically gestures between the both of them, hoping she’s being convincing.

Bomi shivers slightly from the cold and remembers that they are in fact still outside and his hoodie isn’t nearly as thick as her jacket. She wonders if almost freezing him has made a bad impression. Reluctantly she steps out of his personal space and into the restaurant behind her.

“I’m Yoon Bomi by the way. Your potential midnight snack date.” She smiles and points finger guns at him for effect.

this was quite a weird predicament he found himself in. changsun never really thought he would be having this kind of conversation at this time of the morning with a girl he had never met before. but he couldn’t really say he was complaining all too much, it was amusing enough for him at the moment. though he wouldn’t lie and say he wanted to continue just standing around for much longer holding the door open, the smell of the food inside was wafting out and it was starting to make his mouth water even more. 

“i suppose that’s a good point,” he did have to consider, and he supposed he wouldn’t mind eating with someone else.eating alone could get a little boring, and while he was guaranteed to finish faster alone so he could go home and get in some more sleep, the sleep wasn’t all too important. his first class tomorrow wasn’t until noon so he could have some extra couple hours sleeping than normal if he needed them. 

finally, however, she did seem to remember that they were simply standing outside and he was just standing there like a lemon holding the door open and letting all the warm air out. so, when she moved past him to go inside, changsun did smile a little wider, letting out a small sigh of thanks as he could finally let the door go, slipping through the gap before the door closed again behind him. 

“lee changsun,” he responded with a small laugh and a shake of his head, “but i think it’s a little past midnight.”

oops. he realized too late that he was acting extremely weird around this stranger. the guy probably thought he was a creep or something.

sometimes, wonho’s tendency to be curious about people, or unnecessarily concerned, called for a few strange looks from them; it was only natural, considering he was usually seeing them for the first time. but he couldn’t help it; naturally caring at heart—or call it being nosy—had its difficulties as much as it had its benefits. 

he awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck.

“uh no,” wonho answered the question about something being on his shirt, then realized that the guy had asked whether wonho had been staring at him first. “uh, yes.”

great. he had just answered the two of them in opposite order.

“i was, uh, just noticing that you seem like an athlete,” wonho added some more detail to this insanely awkward and sudden conversation. “a runner or swimmer?” 

at this point, wonho was getting ready to dig his own grave for giving the guy so much discomfort, and he could only pray that the stranger was as much of a kind soul as he looked like.

changsun was sort of convinced that there was something on his shirt at this point even if the other man had said there wasn’t. so, he couldn’t really help but just stare down at himself to try and see what he might be staring at. though he had been quite sure that this was clean when he had put it on. he was always good with no wearing dirty clothes. but people could make mistakes, especially people who were still half asleep. 

but he really couldn’t see anything on his shirt so he looked up again, a small frown still on his face as he waited to see what he had been staring at. 

he hadn’t been expecting that question, however, brows furrowing just a little as he tried to work out how he had worked that out about him. “i used to be a swimmer, still am, i suppose. but i just teach now,” his days of competing were behind him, he had only competed during his school days because the swimming teacher sort of pushed him into doing it. and while he enjoyed it and was told he could be one of the greats, it wasn’t what he wanted to do with his life so had decided to just stick to the teaching. 

“why?” he did have to pry a little more, still unsure as to why that equalled to this man just staring at him. it had been a little uncomfortable and he just wanted to know his motives was all, nothing too threatening about wanting to simply know that.

Bomi offers a small chuckle as she looks to the owner of the voice, “Well I wouldn’t be standing here if … I wasn’t,” The sarcasm dies in her throat as she takes in his features and does the thing that Circe loathes about her. Bomi for maybe the fourth time this week is enamored by a stranger’s appearance and has now entered lovestruck Bomi mode. Which Circe characterizes by stalker-ish tendencies, loud obnoxious laughter and bad pickup lines. But honestly that’s Bomi on a daily basis so she simply waves the thought off mentally.

Turning fully to the stranger she gives him a warm smile and realizes she doesn’t know what he’s said but she fears it might have been important because he’s staring at her expectantly, waiting for her to react. Oh right, they’re standing outside KFC in the middle of the night. She guesses he’s expecting her to go inside. Bomi decides that can wait though and steps closer to the man holding the door rather than into the restaurant.

“Are you eating alone?” Bomi blurts out as she fidgets with the hairpin she wears to keep her bangs out of her face during work. Usually it’s her favorite because it’s a nice shade of purple, her favorite color, but for right now she hates it and the way it’s probably making her look ridiculous.

“Because, uh, you don’t have to. I’m here, you can definitely eat with me.” 

he did pick up on the slight pause at the end of her speech, though he didn’t think too much about it. she was probably confused about how much of a mess he looked right now. hair still all mussed up from bed and glasses probably half-way down his nose and no doubt there was sleep in his eyes as well. and the fact he was still wearing the clothes he had gone to bed in and had just put a jumper over the top to try and keep warm. this was the hardly the best he ever looked. 

and he was still holding open the door. she had made it clear with the previous comment that she was going in, and yet she didn’t seem to be doing that. so, needless to say, changsun was just a little confused about what she was doing. but he still kept holding onto the door because that was the polite thing to do in this situation and he was nothing but polite. and it was not like the door was heavy so he didn’t have to worry about his arm staring to ache, and besides, he had strong arms from swimming so wouldn’t really have to worry about that anyway. he could manage holding open a door. 

though what he hadn’t really been counting on was the sudden question. “i was planning to yeah,” he did reply with a small nod of his head, “i live alone and it is pretty late. or early?” it was both, late night and early morning as well. but either way, it was still nighttime and after he had his chicken he was going to go back to sleep for as long as possible before he had to wake up for his first class in the morning. 

“you want to eat with me? why? we just met.”

“What are you talking about?” Hyungwon looked at his friend, a truly confused look on his face. “Wait, do you seriously get sick from eating this much junk food? Because I can promise you, I do this all the time. And it’s not like it has to do with metabolism ‘cause we both move around a lot so… Got bad news for you, Changsun. Maybe you’re just weak. Maybe this is just natural selection, and I’m winning.” Satisfied with his explanation, Hyungwon grinned smugly as he popped another chip in his mouth. Changsun was just sad because he had a diet or something.

He picked out his favorite character, weakly elbowing Changsun with a small huff. “I did not pout. I don’t pout. What are you talking about? If there’s anyone who pouts between the two of us, it’s definitely you.” In contrast to the other, Hyungwon leaned forward, ready to put all his attention on the game. As much as a cooked meal kind of appealed to his stomach, he also loved his snacks a lot. “Then just lemme win and gorge myself.”

god did he seriously know how much risk to his health he was creating just from eating this much crap? “yes, people have heart attacks because they end up eating too much junk foot and barely any vegetables. i know this kind of thing, i volunteer at a hospital, remember,” not that he thought that made him an expert on how to eat well or anything, but he did think he knew what he was talking about. eating this much junk all the time was going to give him problems in the future. “with the rate you are going, hyung, you’re going to end up kicking the bucket before me. When you have a heart attack in the near future, don’t come running to me.” 

changsun didn’t even have to look as he picked out his character, instead turning to look over at hyungwon. “you’re pouting right now,” he did have to point out with a teasing smile, “and, for your information, i do not pout.” he had no reason to pout... unless he was trying to pull of some ‘cute dongsaeng’ act, then he could pout if it was going to help him out. “i can’t just sit here and watch you stuff yourself closer to death. besides, i’m not going to just let you win that easy.”

If nothing lasts forever, will you be my nothing? (Changsun & Bomi)

Closing at the Dim Share BBQ is nothing new for Bomi. She is painfully aware that she is not a morning person and so chose the 2:00PM to 2:00 AM shift accordingly. Other than the fact that the smell of beef might as well have seeped into her bones, it’s an alright job. Today is no exception, in fact it might even be rule because today for Bomi is payday.

Payday is always a joyous occasion for Bomi because it means one more month where she doesn’t have to live the life of a nomad anymore. Because of this, payday is always full of loud laughter, bad puns and constant pleas to cease and desist by her coworkers. Bomi promptly ignores them and by the time she and the other closer are done for the day she tries for another pun and is met with a “dear god please go home” before they part ways.

Bomi is still too excited about getting paid for the month to go home and settle for treating herself to a nearby fastfood restaurant. Preferably chicken because even Bomi has her limits. So Bomi pulls her coat tighter around her form and makes her way to the nearest and cheapest chicken place around. This happens to be KFC and as she walks closer she is slightly disappointed about how empty it is at almost 3:00AM. This means she’ll have to just take it to eat at home, she’s got a thing about eating alone.

late nights and early mornings was just something he was used to. these days it was almost like he couldn’t sleep without having some sort of bad dream which woke up again again. and seeing as he couldn’t sleep again without snacking on something less than healthy, it was not going to do very well for his physique. changsun had worked hard to get to where he was and looking like he did, but friend chicken was always calling to him, or just something else equally unhealthy he was going to regret shoving in his mouth later on. 

but, once again, with more bad thoughts in his head and nothing but the moon and dim street lamps lighting up the sidewalk, changsun once again found himself half-asleep and on the hunt for something to much on. and his usual place was closed now as they were going through some refurbishments, meaning that he had to find somewhere else. but only fried chicken would do for him, so it wasn’t all too hard to take himself to a more expensive chicken place, but he did suppose it tasted nicer. though normally he didn’t care what it tasted like so long as it was unhealthy. 

and because it was so late, the place was basically empty, which was great because he didn’t like standing around in line. but he did notice someone else lingering around outside the door. “are you going in?” he wondered with a smile as he moved towards the door, holding it open and standing aside a little so she could get past if she was going in. “you might want to hurry up, i bet its warmer in there than it is out here.”

“Hey, stop insulting my feast. If you’re not going to eat any then you can just say that,” Hyungwon complained. He pulled he bag of junk food closer to him , grabbing a chip bag to defiantly yank it open. Oh yeah, he knew that this was far from the healthiest thing to be eating. But it wasn’t like this was his every meal… Just, more like, every once in a while. Like every other day, but like once every other day! Whatever, he could just work it off in the studio. He dropped the snack bag off to the side of the couch a d got up to put on a racing game for now, AKA Mario Kart That Ends All Friendships. Because why not. His chips got insulted. He wanted to blue shell Changsun.  "Shut your mouth, I won last time.“ Like once, and it might have been out of pity, but shh. Hyungwon huffed as he sat down again, making himself comfortable. "Best out of  three. If you win, I’ll eat whatever sad thing you want then. Okay?”

“i will continue to insult your ‘feast’ until i am sure it’s not going to give you a  heart defect,” he just scoffed in response with a rather judgemental look on his face. and while he didn’t normally get very judgemental about things, the food he had brought was just way too much unhealthy stuff. “you don’t eat it all at once,” he did have to add with a small sigh and a shake of his head, “you’ll be sick.” and he really didn’t want to have to deal with watching his sick friend buckle over the toilet because he had eaten all of this unhealthy stuff at once. 

scrunching his nose up a little, changsun leaned forward and grabbed one of the controllers, tilting his head a little at the response. “i let you win out of pity last time because the pouting was pathetic,” he just responded, leaning back in his seat once again. and he really didn’t mind telling him that, either. “and that doesn’t sound very fair, really. even if i win, then i still have to do the cooking.” not that he minded because he quite liked cooking, it was just a downside that he was not the best chef out there and, more often than not, something ended up going wrong.

Jieun rested her head in that palms of her hands, staring out at the droplets of water skipping off of the already wet pavement. She didn’t understand why this man was standing out in the pouring rain just watching her cry. Was it a sick sadistic pastime this strange man had? Like schadenfreude had gripped this man and Jieun was the lowly subject.·

No. Perhaps this poor guy just had an ounce of chivalry in him, something Jieun was just beginning to think didn’t truly exist anymore. That glimmer of a cheery thought brought a weary smile to her face.·“Alright, I won’t worry then.” Jieun acknowledged, giving a tired nod to him. She couldn’t help but continue feeling guilty though. She should have at least waited to get back to her apartment to breakdown. Instead she was causing both her trampled self and some kind stranger to get soaked.·

Jieun wanted to pull herself together, if not for herself than for this guy who didn’t deserve to be kept from his evening. She made a move to stand up but a dizzy wave knocked her back on to the bench. Alcohol with no food in the stomach was hitting her more than she’d even originally anticipated. Balancing her self back onto the wet bench, she shut her eyes to regain composure.·

“I’ll get up in one moment.” She promised, giving a few full-bodied breaths before turning up to look at him. She was making out what she could of his figure in the dark, as he was also partially blocked by the umbrellas canopy. She wiped what remaining tears she could from her cheeks, but they still stung of sadness.

in these kinds of situations, changsun didn’t really know what he should say, or could say, to make the situation better. if it were a subject he was more versed in he might be offering advice or saying something to try and lighten the mood, but relationships was something he knew next to nothing about. he’d never had a girlfriend in his life, but he did know he wouldn’t want to do anything to hurt her, not so she ended up getting drunk and just sitting in the rain in the dark, anyway. 

“i should be the one worrying about you, really,” he did have to offer after a moment with a small smile and a laugh, shifting the umbrella in his hand so it was a little more comfortable, “you are the one sitting here crying, after all.” and he would ask more about it, but he didn’t want to be rude and pry too much into her personal business when it might not be something she wanted to talk about or tell some stranger. it was not like the two of them were friends or anything, this was their first meeting and the problem seemed rather personal, not really something you would start sharing with someone you had never met before. 

frowning deeper as he noticed the failed attempt to stand up again, his head cocked a little to the side as he looked at her. “do you want some help getting home?” he did have to offer. in the state she was currently in, he was worried that she wouldn’t be able to make it by herself. and she didn’t have an umbrella or anything so she would only up getting even wetter than she already was. “i really don’t mind,” he added with a smile, trying to press the idea on her, “i was only heading home myself, i’m not in a rush and you look like you need the help.”
